Purpose: To evaluate the effectiveness of WeChat-based continuing care services in enhancing maternal parenting competence.

Design: This study included 524 primiparas who underwent obstetrics department from June 2022 to June 2023. 286 women were assigned to the intervention group, receiving WeChatbased continuing care services, while 238 women were assigned to the control group, receiving traditional care services.

Associations between air pollutant and pneumonia and asthma requiring hospitalization among children aged under 5 years in Ningbo, 2015-2017.

Introduction: Exposure to ambient air pollutants is associated with an increased incidence of respiratory diseases such as pneumonia and asthma, especially in younger children. We investigated the relationship between rates of hospitalization of children aged under 5 years for pneumonia and asthma and the concentration of air pollutants in Ningbo between January 1, 2015 and August 29, 2017.

Methods: Data were obtained from the Ningbo Air Quality Data Real-time Publishing System and the big data platform of the Ningbo Health Information Center.

Depletion and Reversal of Hepatocellular Carcinoma Inducing CTL through ER Stress-Dependent PERK-CHOP Signaling Pathway.

Aims: In this report, it was investigated that hepatoma cells can cause downregulation of cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) function and tea polyphenols (TPs) can reverse downregulation of CTL function.

Methods: The expression of GRP78, PD-1, and TIM-3 was detected by western blotting in CTLL-2 cocultured with Hepa1-6 cells. Moreover, perforin (PRF1) and granzyme B (GzmB) protein levels and ER morphology were examined by ELISA and TEM, respectively.

In the present study, 144 isolates were collected from the samples of blood, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), and fetal membrane/placenta in China for 12 years from 2008 to 2019.

Metabolic engineering of Bacillus amyloliquefaciens LL3 for enhanced poly-γ-glutamic acid synthesis.

Poly-γ-glutamic acid (γ-PGA) is a biocompatible and biodegradable polypeptide with wide-ranging applications in foods, cosmetics, medicine, agriculture and wastewater treatment. Bacillus amyloliquefaciens LL3 can produce γ-PGA from sucrose that can be obtained easily from sugarcane and sugar beet. In our previous work, it was found that low intracellular glutamate concentration was the limiting factor for γ-PGA production by LL3.

Microbiological and clinical characteristics of Group B Streptococcus isolates causing materno-neonatal infections: high prevalence of CC17/PI-1 and PI-2b sublineage in neonatal infections.

Purpose: Group B Streptococcus (GBS) is one of the major pathogens in severe materno-neonatal infections. We aimed to describe the clinical and molecular characteristics of GBS isolates causing infections in 45 maternal and 50 neonatal subjects, collected from eight healthcare centres in mainland China over the period 2010- 2017.

Methodology: The phenotypic and genotypic features of the GBS isolates, including capsular polysaccharide (cps) serotypes, pilus island (PI) genes and antibiotic resistance profiles and genes, were characterized by both conventional and molecular methods.

A bivalent vaccine against both EV71 and CVA16 is highly desirable. In the present study, on the bases that an experimental bivalent vaccine comprising of inactivated EV71 and CVA16 induces a balanced protective immunity against both EV71 and CVA16, we compare the immunogenicity and reactogenicity of one fourth of a full dose of an intradermal vaccine administered by needle-free liquid jet injector with a full dose of an intramuscular vaccine administered by needle-syringe in monkeys.
