Respir Res

January 2025

Shaanxi Provincial Key Laboratory of Bioelectromagnetic Detection and Intelligent Perception, Department of Biomedical Engineering, Air Force Medical University, Xi'an, 710032, China.

Background: Acute pulmonary embolism represents the third most prevalent cardiovascular pathology, following coronary heart disease and hypertension. Its untreated mortality rate is as high as 20-30%, which represents a significant threat to patient survival. In view of the current lack of real-time monitoring techniques for acute pulmonary embolism, this study primarily investigates the potential of the pulsatility electrical impedance tomography (EIT) technique for the detection and real-time monitoring of acute pulmonary embolism through the collection and imaging of the pulsatile signal of pulmonary blood flow.

Sci Rep

December 2024

National Engineering Research Center for Miniaturized Detection Systems, College of Life Sciences, Northwest University, Xi'an, Shaanxi, China.

Glioma is the most common malignant brain tumor. Previous studies have reported that calnexin (CANX) is significantly up-regulated in a variety of malignant tumors, including glioma, but its biological function and mechanism in glioma is still unclear. In this study, differentially expressed proteins in 3 primary glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) tissues and 3 paracancer tissues were identified by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry-based proteomic and bioinformatic analysis.

Peking University People's Hospital, Peking University Institute of Hematology, National Clinical Research Center for Hematologic Disease, Beijing Key Laboratory of Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation, Beijing, China.

Article Synopsis
  • Chronic myelomonocytic leukemia (CMML) is a type of blood cancer where allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) is currently the only curative treatment, although not suitable for all patients, and relapse is a common issue.
  • A nationwide study analyzed data from 238 CMML patients who underwent allo-HSCT across 27 medical centers and 307 patients from a research database to establish a risk scoring system to predict early relapse based on certain prognostic factors.
  • Four key factors were identified that significantly increased the risk of relapse: bone marrow blasts over 10%, age greater than 60 years, low hemoglobin levels, and specific gene mutations, leading to a scoring system that categor

Numerous studies have elucidated the intricate relationship between bronchial asthma and small cell lung cancer (SCLC), as well as the role lipid metabolism genes play in transitioning from bronchial asthma to SCLC. Despite this, the predictive power of single gene biomarkers remains insufficient and necessitates the development of more accurate prognostic models. In our study, we downloaded and preprocessed scRNA-seq of SCLC from the GEO database GSE164404 and severe asthma scRNA-seq from GSE145013 using the Seurat package.

Impact of a novel prognostic model on allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation outcomes in patients with CMML.

Am J Hematol

September 2023

Peking University People's Hospital, Peking University Institute of Hematology, National Clinical Research Center for Hematologic Disease, Beijing Key Laboratory of Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation, Beijing, China.

Chronic myelomonocytic leukemia (CMML) is a clonal hematopoietic stem cell malignancy, and allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) is the only curable treatment. The outcomes after transplant are influenced by both disease characteristics and patient comorbidities. To develop a novel prognostic model to predict the post-transplant survival of CMML patients, we identified risk factors by applying univariable and multivariable Cox proportional hazards regression to a derivation cohort.

It has been noted that temozolomide resistance occurs in a number of malignancies, including glioma, although the underlying cause of this is unknown. The goal of the study in vivo investigation to show that increased CD147 expression in glioma cells is a factor in their resistance to the chemotherapy drug temozolomide. Proliferation assays, TUNEL assays, reactive oxygen species assays, protein degradation assays, immunohistochemistry, Western blotting, quantitative polymerase chain reactions, and tumorigenicity assays were all carried out.
