Mixed dentition analyses are used to determine possible tooth-size and arch-length discrepancies during the transition from primary to permanent dentition. Prediction methods using a probability table or linear regression equation use the sum of the mesiodistal widths of mandibular permanent incisors to predict the mesiodistal width of unerupted permanent teeth. Racial and sexual variations and sexual dimorphism in tooth size have been reported.

Emphysema of the subcutaneous tissue is an uncommon complication of dental procedures. Certain dental surgical procedures, such as extraction of teeth using air-driven handpieces and endodontic procedures are more prone to cause subcutaneous emphysema. Subcutaneous emphysema is typically self-limiting and only in a few instances has an impact on the long-term health of the patient.

Introduction: Following Lefort I osteotomy, widening of the alar base is the most common secondary postoperative change resulting in deepening of the alar facial groove, which may be unaesthetic. Therefore, various surgical techniques to control lateralization of the alar base have been widely described in the literature. The purpose of this study was to analyze the cause and to prevent the changes in the nasolabial region, especially excessive widening of the alar base following Lefort I osteotomy by using modified alar base cinch suture.

Introduction Calcium trisilicate derivatives have widely been used as dentin and enamel substitutes recently. These cements have excellent biological properties, but they do not show fluoride release. The release of fluoride from dental materials is a very important property of a material in restorative applications as fluoride confers antibacterial and anti-cariogenic properties.

When teeth have responded poorly to conventional endodontic treatment or when they cannot be treated adequately by nonsurgical means, surgical endodontics remains the treatment of choice. Healing of apical lesions occurs by repair, most of the time. "Repair is the healing of a wound by tissue that does not fully restore the architecture or function of the affected unit".

Objectives: Oral and maxillofacial surgeons must gain mastery of various approaches to the midface due to the increasing incidence, complexity, and severity of presenting midfacial fractures. Unlike in the case of other body parts, the need to preserve facial aesthetics makes it more difficult for the surgeon to select an approach for managing the facial injuries. The midfacial degloving (MFD) approach is a combination of intraoral and intranasal incisions made to access the midface without any external incision.

To predict the laser ablation profile on dental hard tissue which will enable the user to optimize laser parameters so as to carry out the laser treatment with minimal tissue damage. The present study constructs a mathematical model to predict the ablation profile based on Gaussian beam distribution of laser intensity and correlates the model with experimentally obtained ablation parameters (effective Gaussian beam radius, ablation threshold fluence, and effective energy penetration depth). To obtain the ablation parameters, laser ablation experiments were carried out on dental hard tissues using Ti:Sapphire femtosecond laser (800 nm, 100 fs, 10 kHz).
