Adaptation is essential to mitigate the effects of climate change, such as increasing flood risk. In response to widespread maladaptation, citizen-led approaches are increasingly championed, whereby people on the frontline of climate change determine their own objectives and strategies of adaptation. Enabling equitable and effective citizen-led adaptation requires an understanding of the barriers for different groups of people but this is currently lacking, especially in low- and middle-income countries.

Energy application potential from the abundant biomass residues is inadequately exploited. Over-dependence on forest trees, its negative environmental impacts, and ever-rising energy costs require alternative production technologies including briquetting. The physico-mechanical and combustion properties of binderless and bindered Alstonia boonei sawdust and Theobroma cacao (cocoa) pod briquettes, carbonized in a steel kiln (at 410±5°C, and a heating rate of 4°C/min from the ambient temperature of 25°C), piston-pressed at 9.

Purpose: The health of people living in prisons (PLP) frequently remains marginalised in national development discourse, particularly in resource-constrained settings like Ghana. This study aims to determine the prevalence of cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk factors among PLP at a prison facility in the Northern Region of Ghana.
Design/methodology/approach: A cross-sectional study involving 134 male persons in prison, aged 18-79 years, was conducted to assess their dietary habits, tobacco use, alcohol consumption, sleep behaviour and physical activity practices.

Background: Stunting and wasting are key public health problems in Ghana that are significantly linked with mortality and morbidity risk among children. However, information on their associated factors using nationally representative data is scanty in Ghana. This study investigated the influence of Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) indicators, socio-demographic and economic related factors, and water and sanitation on stunting and wasting, using nationally representative data in Ghana.

Objective: YAP1 plays a dual role as an oncogene and tumor suppressor gene in several tumors; differentiating between these roles may depend on the YAP1 phosphorylation pattern. The specific function of YAP1 in B cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL), however, is currently unclear. Thus, in the present study, the role of YAP1 in B-ALL was investigated using relevant cell lines and patient datasets.

Audio classification and retrieval has been recognized as a fascinating field of endeavor for as long as it has existed due to the topic of identifying and choosing the most useful audio attributes. The categorization of audio files is significant not only in the area of multimedia applications but also in the disciplines of medicine, sound analysis, intelligent homes and cities, urban informatics, entertainment, and surveillance. This study introduces a new algorithm called the modified bacterial foraging optimization algorithm (MBFOA), which is based on a method that retrieves and classifies audio data.

Introduction: Despite the gains on exclusive breastfeeding (EBF), recent nationwide surveys have consistently revealed a decline in EBF rates in Ghana. The World Food Programme implemented an intervention for Enhanced Nutrition and Value Chain (ENVAC) which was based on three pillars including pregnant women, lactating women, adolescent and children under two years old being beneficiaries of the third pillar since the first 1000 days are critical for averting malnutrition. The social behavior change communication (SBCC) interventions implemented as part of this project have a potential to increase EBF among beneficiaries but this has not been measured.

This study investigates the compressive deformation and the effect of structural architecture on the compressive strength of bioprocessed mycelium biocomposites reinforced with laterite particles. In the mycelium blocks, lignocellulosic hemp hurds function as reinforcing and nutritional substrates. The mycelium acts as a supportive matrix, binding the hemp hurds and the laterite particles which are integrated for further reinforcement to improve the compressive strength of the composite.

A significant study has been undertaken in the areas of health care and administration of cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI) technologies throughout the previous decade. Healthcare professionals studied smart gadgets and other medical technologies, along with the AI-based Internet of Things (IoT) (AIoT). Connecting the two regions makes sense in terms of improving care for rural and isolated resident individuals.

Using Least Square Residual Minimization techniques, this paper develops an optimal reserve model, known as the OPREM model, which is essential in optimizing the costs of reserve holding. The paper also sets-out to test and compare the relative predictions of economic trends of the OPREM model as well as the predictions of alternative models in literature. Establishing the predictive accuracy of economic trends of these models are crucial for the gradual and cost-effective accumulation of reserves.

Cervical squamous cell carcinoma (CSC) is expected to rise to become the fourth most prevalent cancer in women globally and to replace breast cancer as the top cause of death in women in the future years, according to the World Health Organization. According to the World Health Organization, developing countries are responsible for 86 percent of all cervical cancer cases globally in women aged 15 to 44 (WHO). Cancer mortality is associated with the largest amount of monotonous antecedent in low- and middle-income nations, while cancer mortality is associated with the least amount of monotonous antecedent in high-income countries.

The Internet of Things, sometimes known as IoT, is a relatively new kind of Internet connectivity that connects physical objects to the Internet in a way that was not possible in the past. The Internet of Things is another name for this concept (IoT). The Internet of Things has a larger attack surface as a result of its hyperconnectivity and heterogeneity, both of which are characteristics of the IoT.

Numerous forms of disasters and vandalism can occur in transmission lines, which makes them vulnerable. As a result, the transmission pipes must be protected by a reliable monitoring system. When a wireless sensor network is built from disparate devices that are positioned at varying distances from one another, it can be used to monitor physical and environmental conditions in the surrounding environment.

ECG (electrocardiogram) identifies and traces targets and is commonly employed in cardiac disease detection. It is necessary for monitoring precise target trajectories. Estimations of ECG are nonlinear as the parameters TDEs (time delays) and Doppler shifts are computed on receipt of echoes where EKFs (extended Kalman filters) and electrocardiogram have not been examined for computations.

As a result of their natural capacity to recover harmonic current and reactive power from alternating current sources, power electronic devices utilized in conjunction with nonlinear loads have the potential to generate significant harmonic problems within the power system when employed in this way. When this occurs, voltage instability occurs, which must be avoided in order to maintain the consistency and dependability of the power system's power flow. With this approach, the series controller has been replaced by a multilevel modular controller in order to improve power handling capability and achieve higher modular levels with minimal distortions.

A flood is defined as a surplus of water or sludge on parched soil, and a flood has originated through the runoff of water inside the water route from the various water sources like canals, etc. Intense rainfall, deforestation, urbanization, deprived water and sewerage administration, and lack of concentration toward the environment of the hydrological scheme have been the causes of urban flooding. In addition, there is a deficiency in flood assessment due to the impediment in getting data on floods to the control room from the flood-affected area.
