An upward trend of dyslipidemia among adult population in Vietnam: Evidence from a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Introduction: It is critical to assess the progress toward achieving the national goal of reducing premature mortality from non-communicable diseases (NCDs) by one-third by 2030 in Vietnam. This study aimed to examine the pooled prevalence of dyslipidemia among the Vietnamese adult population.

Method: Five databases, PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, CINAHL, Google Scholar, and local peer-reviewed journals were searched from inception to May 2024 without language restrictions.

Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH) is a rare disorder characterized by the proliferation of Langerhans cells, a type of dendritic cell essential for immune response. While LCH predominantly affects children, its manifestation in adults, especially within the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, is exceedingly rare. We present a unique case of a 56-year-old female with rare GI manifestations of LCH.

Association between dietary factors and breast cancer risk: a matched case-control study in Vietnam.

Background: The role of diet in breast cancer prevention is controversial and limited in low-middle-income countries (LMICs). This study aimed to investigate the association between different dietary factors and breast cancer risk in Vietnamese women.

Methods: Three hundred seventy newly histologically confirmed breast cancer cases and 370 controls matched by 5-year age from September 2019 to March 2020 in Ho Chi Minh City were recorded dietary intake using a validated food frequency questionnaire.

Esophageal achalasia compressing the left atrium and mimicking an extracardiac tumor on the transthoracic echocardiography: A case report.

Achalasia is an uncommon disorder affecting esophageal motility. Occasionally, the appearance of a dilated esophagus in achalasia may resemble an extracardiac tumor when observed through transthoracic echocardiography. Left atrial compression due to extensive esophageal dilation is also rare, potentially leading to hemodynamic compromise.

Objective: This study aims to evaluate the safety and immunogenicity of the SKYVaricella vaccine in healthy Vietnamese children aged 12 months to 12 years.

Methods: This open-label, single-arm study involved 201 children divided into two groups: 60 children aged 12 months to 5 years and 141 children aged 6 to 12 years. Safety was assessed through immediate reactions, solicited adverse events within 7 days, and unsolicited events up to Day 42.

Subcutaneous panniculitis-like T-cell lymphoma (SPTLP), a unique variant of primary cutaneous T-cell lymphomas, clinically mimics subcutaneous panniculitis. It is typified by the development of multiple plaques or subcutaneous erythematous nodules, predominantly on the extremities and trunk. Epidemiological findings reveal a greater incidence in females than males, affecting a wide demographic, including pediatric and adult cohorts, with a median onset age of around 30 years.

Purpose: To evaluate the effectiveness of the progestin-primed ovarian stimulation (PPOS) protocol versus the gonadotropin-releasing hormone antagonist (GnRH-ant) protocol in ovarian stimulation.

Methods: In this retrospective cohort study, we included 804 patients who were treated between January 1, 2022, and July 1, 2023. Outcomes of ovarian stimulation were compared between the PPOS (n = 206) and GnRH-ant (n = 598).

In a cohort pregnancy with abnormal sonograms, affected cases were confirmed by invasive diagnostic tests concurrently, with NIPT-SGG targeting 25 common dominant single-gene diseases.

COPD patients with asthma features usually benefit from inhaled corticosteroids (ICS)-containing regimens, but their burden and diagnostic criteria remain to be established. The aims of this study were to estimate the proportion of patients with asthma features among patients with physician-diagnosed COPD and to investigate differences in clinical characteristics and current medications between COPD patients with asthma features and patients with COPD alone. A cross-sectional study was conducted at two respiratory out-patient clinics at the University Medical Center in Ho Chi Minh City and Bach Mai Hospital in Ha Noi, Vietnam.

Methods: Prevalence of dense breasts (heterogeneously or extremely dense) according to Breast Imaging Reporting and Data System and obesity (BMI > 30 kg/m2) were estimated from 2,667,207 mammography examinations among 866,033 women in the Breast Cancer Surveillance Consortium (BCSC) from January 2005 through April 2021.
