Clarifying multifactorial musculoskeletal disorder etiologies supports risk analysis, development of targeted prevention, and treatment modalities. Deep learning enables comprehensive risk factor identification through systematic analyses of disease data sets but does not provide sufficient context for mechanistic understanding, limiting clinical applicability for etiological investigations. Conversely, multiscale biomechanical modeling can evaluate mechanistic etiology within the relevant biomechanical and physiological context.

Traditional, 8-week, mindfulness-based interventions can effectively treat chronic pain, but require a time and resource investment too burdensome for many patients and providers. The solution to this logistical challenge may be to distill the core, therapeutic elements of an efficacious 8-week, mindfulness-based intervention, Mindfulness-Oriented Recovery Enhancement (MORE), into a 2-h, single-session intervention. In this study, the authors conducted a waitlist-controlled, randomized clinical trial to assess the impact of a 2-h, single-session adaptation of MORE (i.

Significance: Knee osteoarthritis (OA) is a disease that causes chronic pain in the elderly population. Currently, OA is mainly treated pharmacologically with analgesics, although research has shown that neuromodulation via transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) may be beneficial in reducing pain in clinical settings. However, no studies have reported the effects of home-based self-administered tDCS on functional brain networks in older adults with knee OA.
