Objectives: Endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) is the gold standard for the treatment of noninvasive large colorectal lesions, despite challenges associated with nonlifting lesions and a high rate of local recurrence. Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) offers the possibility of overcoming these EMR limitations. However, a higher risk of complications and longer procedure time prevented its dissemination.

The brachial plexus nerves originate from the cervical (C5-C8) and first thoracic (T1) spinal nerves, and innervate muscles and skin of the chest, shoulder, arm and hand. Brachial plexus injuries can occur as a result of shoulder trauma and inflammation. Malignant tumors can also cause neoplastic brachial plexopathy (NBP), and refractory neuropathic pain is the most common symptom of NBP.

Plateau is a prognostic factor of lenalidomide therapy for previously treated multiple myeloma.

Hematol Oncol

August 2021

Department of Hematology and Rheumatology, Faculty of Medicine, Kindai University, Higashi-osaka, Japan.

The plateau phase emerging during the treatment of multiple myeloma (MM) is known to last steadily for a certain period, even without treatment. Therefore, the treatment started at plateau phase is expected to be associated with a better outcome. In this study, this hypothesis was evaluated retrospectively for previously treated MM patients in Kansai Myeloma Forum database who received lenalidomide (LEN) with or without dexamethasone for the first time.

Mesalazine is the gold standard drug for treatment of ulcerative colitis (UC). Here, we describe 4 cases of familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP) patients with UC that showed reduction of intestinal polyp diameter by mesalazine treatment. Of note, the effects of mesalazine on the development of intestinal polyps in FAP patients have not been reported, and we further investigated whether the short-term use of high-dose mesalazine (4 g/day) has harmful effects on FAP patients or not.
