Ledipasvir/Sofosbuvir Is Effective for Relapsed Genotype 1b Hepatitis C Virus Patients after Achieving a Sustained Virological Response at Post-treatment Week 12 with Glecaprevir/Pibrentasvir.

A patient with genotype 1b chronic hepatitis C virus who had been treated with pegylated interferon and ribavirin (RBV) was treated with glecaprevir/pibrentasvir (GLE/PIB) for 12 weeks. A sustained virological response at post-treatment week 12 (SVR12) was achieved, but relapse occurred approximately 31 weeks after the end of treatment. The patient had a history of allergy to RBV and was treated with ledipasvir/sofosbuvir (LDV/SOF), achieving SVR12 and remaining hepatitis C virus-negative until 24 weeks after the completion of treatment.

Comparison of robot-assisted partial nephrectomy with soft coagulation and double-layer technique for complex and non-complex tumors.

Objectives: To compare the postoperative outcomes of robot-assisted partial nephrectomy when only the inner layer is sutured (single-layer technique with soft coagulation) with those when sutures are placed in the inner and outer layers (double-layer technique) in patients with and without complex renal tumors.

Methods: This retrospective three-institution study included 371 patients with renal tumors who underwent robot-assisted partial nephrectomy with a double-layer technique or a single-layer technique with soft coagulation. Tumors that were cT1b, completely embedded, located in the renal portal, or had a RENAL score of ≥10 were considered complex.

The second nationwide surveillance of antibacterial susceptibility patterns of pathogens isolated from skin and soft-tissue infections in dermatology departments in Japan.

The present study compared trends in antimicrobial resistance patterns in pathogens isolated from skin and soft-tissue infections (SSTIs) in Japan with those of a nationwide survey conducted in 2013. Three organisms that caused most of the SSTIs were collected from 12 dermatology departments in medical centers and 12 dermatology clinics across Japan between April 2019 and August 2020. A total of 390 strains, including 267 Staphylococcus aureus, 109 coagulase-negative staphylococci (CNS), and 14 Streptococcus pyogenes strains were submitted to a central laboratory for antimicrobial susceptibility testing.

Clinical application of virtual imaging guided Robot-assisted partial nephrectomy.

Materials & methods : We retrospectively analyzed 36 patients who underwent robot-assisted partial nephrectomy (RAPN) between 2016 and 2017. Aim: Cabozantinib (CAB), a multiple kinase inhibitor, has been approved for use in patients with previously treated unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (uHCC). However, real-world clinical data are lacking, particularly clinical data regarding dose modifications of CAB. We analyzed the clinical outcomes of CAB in uHCC and compared treatment outcomes between the full- and reduced-dose groups.

General anesthesia with remimazolam for a pediatric patient with MELAS and recurrent epilepsy: a case report.

Progressive Multifocal Leukoencephalopathy in a Patient with Multifocal Neurological Manifestations Caused by Solitary Brainstem Involvement.

A Japanese man in his 60s on medication for chronic lymphocytic leukemia presented with progressive, multifocal neurological manifestations. Magnetic resonance imaging showed a small, solitary region of brainstem involvement. Sensitive real-time polymerase chain reaction testing detected a small amount of JC virus (JCV) DNA (170 copies/mL) with pathogenic mutation in cerebrospinal fluid.

Short tandem repeat polymorphism analysis for primary peritoneal choriocarcinoma: A case report and literature review.

The peritoneum is an extremely rare site for primary choriocarcinoma development. Primary peritoneal choriocarcinoma could be either gestational or nongestational, whereas it is straightforward to ascribe uterine or tubal choriocarcinoma to the gestational origin. Herein, we report a case of primary peritoneal choriocarcinoma that is genetically diagnosed as a gestational subtype originating from an occult complete hydatidiform mole.

Orofacial Dyskinesia and Intractable Hiccups in a Patient with Varicella-zoster Virus Encephalomyelitis.

A 73-year-old Japanese man with diabetic complications presented with involuntary lip movements and long-lasting hiccups after developing zoster rash. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed lesions involving the medial temporal lobe and C1 level of the spinal cord. Varicella-zoster virus (VZV) encephalomyelitis was diagnosed.

Methods: This retrospective study included 214 patients who underwent aortic arch surgery requiring hypothermic circulatory arrest between 2007 and 2019. Patients who required preoperative renal replacement therapy and patients who died within 7 postoperative days were excluded.

Methods: A total of 911 patients who achieved SVR with DCV/ASV were assessed. A rare case of intestinal lymphangiectasia induced by pazopanib.

A 62-year-old man underwent left radical nephrectomy for left renal cell carcinoma at our hospital in 1999. At the age of 79 years, he was diagnosed with intra-abdominal disseminations, lung metastases, pancreas metastases, and bilateral femoral muscle metastases during a routine follow-up computed tomography scan. The patient began treatment with pazopanib.

Surgical management and outcomes of obstructive colorectal cancer in elderly patients: A multi-institutional retrospective study.
