Background: The clinical effects and detailed roles of long non-coding RNA (LncRNA) steroid receptor RNA activator 1 (SRA1) in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) remain ambiguous. In the present study, the complementary sites between lncRNA SRA1, miRNA-363-5p, and phospholysine phosphohistidine inorganic pyrophosphate phosphatase (LHPP) predicted bioinformatics analysis stimulated us to hypothesize that miRNA-363-5p/LHPP axis might be required for SRA1-mediated ESCC progression.
Aim: To investigate the molecular events of SRA1 in the malignant behavior in ESCC.

Ferroptosis as an iron-dependent lipid peroxidation process causes sevely oxidative damage of cell, but lack of highly efficient and recycable antioxidant agents. To this end, cerium doped carbon dots (Ce-doped CDs) with radical scavenging activity were synthesized using a simple microwave-assisted hydrothermal carbonization. The resultant Ce-doped CDs exhibited an ultra-small size of only approximately 2.

Long non-coding RNA FENDRR is implicated in progression of several cancers, but its exact role and mechanism in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) are largely unknown. In this study, we investigated the expression and biological roles of FENDRR in HCC tissues and cell lines. We found that the expression levels of FENDRR were significantly down-regulated in HCC tissues and cells.

Background: The objective of this study was to investigate the role and mechanism of long non-coding RNA MIAT in gastric cancer (GC).
Methods: Real-time PCR was used to determine MIAT level in 120 GC tissues, and in two gastric cancer cell lines. The clinicopathological characteristics of MIAT in GC patients were analyzed.

To investigate the expression of miR-212 and miR-132 in the serum of patients with primary liver cancer and their targeted regulation of GP73. The patients with liver cancer, chronic hepatitis B, or liver cirrhosis who were hospitalized in Taizhou People's Hospital from January 2015 to December 2016 were enrolled, and healthy volunteers were also enrolled as controls. Quantitative real-time PCR was used to measure the serum levels of miR-212 and miR-132, and the association between the expression of serum miR-212 and miR-132 and the clinicopathological features of patients with liver cancer was analyzed.

Artesunate (ART) has anti-cancer activities for a variety of solid tumors. The aim of this study was to investigate the anti-metastatic effect of ART on cervical cancer cells. In vivo anti-metastatic effect of ART was investigated in mice with the lung metastasis model by the subcutaneous injection of ART.

HOTAIR, a long noncoding RNA, regulates development and progression of tumor cells and function of normal stem cells. However, the role and the molecular mechanism of HOTAIR in the spermatozoa of patients with asthenozoospermia and oligoasthenozoospermia are still unclear. Herein, 45 healthy control, 45 asthenozoospermic patients and 45 oligoasthenozoospermic patients were enrolled.

Artesunate (ART), derived from a common traditional Chinese medicine, has beeen used an antimalarial for several years. In this study, the effect and mechanism of ART on anti-human cervical cancer cells was examined. The level of prostaglandin E2 (PGE2 ) and the population of CD4+CD25+Foxp3 regulatory T cells (Treg) in peripheral blood were detected by flow cytometry.

Objective: In this article, the effects of CD33 expression from peripheral blood granulocytes and monocytes on inflammatory response in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) were examined.
Methods: CD33 and CD64 expression on peripheral blood granulocytes and monocytes from patients with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and healthy control were detected by flow cytometry. To evaluate the effect of CD33 on inflammation immunity in COPD, the correlation between CD33 expression and CD64 expression, as well as inflammatory indices were investigated.

Background: Celastrol, a plant triterpene, is known to play important role in inhibiting proliferation and inducing apoptosis of gastric cancer cells. In the present study, the mechanism of celastrol on gastric cancer cells apoptosis was examined.
Methods: We assessed effect of celastrol on NF-κB signaling pathway in gastric cancer cells using western blot and luciferase reporter assay.
