Introduction: Laennec's capsule serves as a critical anatomical landmark in anatomical liver resection. Despite its potential, a lack of large-scale prospective studies limits the widespread use of the Laennec approach for minimally invasive hepatectomy. This multicenter cohort study aimed to compare the outcomes of the traditional and Laennec approaches in minimally invasive anatomical hepatectomy across multiple centers in China.

Objective: The objective of this study was to rigorously investigate and elucidate the genetic mechanisms underlying the formation of the RH blood group in a specific case and to systematically analyse the RH blood group genes among the family members of the proband.
Methods: Serological methods were used to determine the RH blood group phenotype of the proband. To elucidate the underlying genetic mechanism responsible for the RH phenotype, a comprehensive approach was undertaken, including RHCE genotyping, sequencing of RHD and RHCE genes, and exon sequencing of RHAG.

Lysine lactylation plays critical roles in various diseases, including cancer. Our previous study showed that lactylation of non-histone ABCF1 may be involved in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) progression. In this study, we evaluated the prognostic value of ABCF1-K430la in HCC using immunohistochemical staining and performed amino acid point mutations, multi-omics crossover, and biochemical experiments to investigate its biological role and underlying mechanism.

The high mortality rate of chronic heart failure (CHF) makes it a primary battlefield in the field of cardiovascular diseases. Qiangxin Lishui Prescription (QLP) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) prescription used clinically for treating CHF, but its underlying mechanism remains unclear. This study integrated plasma metabolomics, network pharmacology, and experimental validation to reveal the pharmacological effects of QLP and its potential mechanism of anti-CHF.

Aim: To evaluate the impact of different b-value combinations on synthetic diffusion-weighted imaging (sDWI) and determine the sDWI with an optimal b-value combination for prostatic cancer (PCa) diagnosis.
Material And Methods: A retrospective analysis of 68 patients with abnormal prostate-specific antigen (PSA) was conducted. The sDWI images with b value of 1500 s/mm were separately reconstructed by the following five b-value combinations: b=0, 200s/mm (sDWI); b=600, 800s/mm (sDWI); b=0, 600s/mm (sDWI); b=200, 800s/mm sDWI); b=0, 800s/mm (sDWI).

Background: As a novel blocker of vascular endothelial growth factor receptor (VEGFR), fruquintinib has been approved for treating colorectal cancer (CRC). However, its dosage and therapeutic efficacy are limited by its widespread adverse reactions. Venetoclax, recognized as the initial inhibitor of B-cell lymphoma protein 2 (BCL2), has shown potential in boosting the effectiveness of immunotherapy against CRC.

Background: In the past several decades, cisplatin (DDP), in combination with other drugs, has been used as the mainstay chemotherapy drug for the treatment of gastric cancer (GC). However, the clinical application of DDP is restricted because of its toxic side effects, it is imperative to explore less toxic and more effective treatment strategies. Dihydroartemisinin (DHA) has been shown to exert potent anticancer effects through ferroptosis in multiple malignancies and has shown high efficacy and safety.

Nanomaterial-biomembrane interactions constitute a critical biological process in assessing the toxicity of such materials in theoretical studies. However, many investigations simplify these interactions by using membrane models containing only one or a few lipid types, deviating significantly from the complexity of real membrane compositions. In particular, cholesterol, a ubiquitous lipid essential for regulating membrane fluidity and closely linked to various diseases, is often overlooked.

High glucose (HG) induced endothelial senescence is related to endothelial dysfunction and cardiovascular complications in diabetic patients. Humanin, a member of mitochondrial derived peptides (MDPs), is thought to contribute to aging-related cardiovascular protection. The goal of the study is to explore the pathogenesis of HG-induced endothelial senescence and potential anti-senescent effects of Humanin.

Ferroptosis is a novel type of programmed cell death dependent on iron and is characterized by the accumulation of lipid peroxides, which is involved in acute lung injury (ALI). Brazilin, an organic compound known for its potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, has not been thoroughly studied for its potential impact on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced ALI. Here, we found that pretreatment of brazilin mitigated LPS-induced lung injury and inflammation by inhibiting mitochondrial oxidative stress and ferroptosis, both in vivo and in vitro.

Histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitors are a promising class of epigenetic modulators in cancer therapy. This review provides a comprehensive analysis of recent synthetic strategies and clinical applications of key HDAC inhibitors for oncology. HDACs play a critical role in modulating chromatin structure and gene expression by removing acetyl groups from histone proteins, leading to transcriptional repression of tumor suppressor genes.

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) remains a principal factor in neurological disorders, often resulting in significant morbidity due to secondary neuroinflammatory and oxidative stress responses. While circular RNAs are recognized for their high expression levels in the nervous system and play crucial roles in various neurological processes, their specific contributions to the pathophysiology of TBI remain underexplored. In this study, the possible molecular mechanisms through which circMETTL9 modulated oxidative stress and neurological outcomes following TBI were investigated.

Immune checkpoint inhibitors have demonstrated remarkable efficacy across various cancer types. However, immune-related adverse events (irAEs) pose a significant challenge in immunotherapy, particularly the associated pneumonia as the primary adverse reaction, which can lead to irreversible pulmonary fibrosis. Additionally, monotherapy with programmed death ligand (PD-L1) inhibitors has shown limited effectiveness.

Given that overexpression of Poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase-1 (PARP1) and Neuropilin-1 (NRP1) is implicated in the pathogenesis of human breast cancer, the design of dual PARP1/NRP1 inhibitors has wide therapeutic prospect. However, there have been no reports of such inhibitors so far. Herein, we discovered novel small molecule inhibitors that simultaneously target PARP1 and NRP1 using structure-based virtual screening for the treatment of breast cancer.
