Article Synopsis
  • Super enhancers (SEs) are essential for cell identity and can activate oncogenes in cancer, particularly in T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL).
  • A new SE has been found in T-ALL that regulates the gene IRF2BP2, influenced by key transcription factors like ERG and ELF1.
  • While IRF2BP2 does not significantly affect normal T cell development, it is vital for T-ALL cell growth and survival, implicating it as a potential target for treatment options.

Background: The clinical effectiveness of enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) strategy, which emphasizes a comprehensive intervention without highlighting key points, seems to have reached a bottleneck. This study focuses on surgery, anesthesia and postoperative analgesia as the three key factors, to observe the related manifestations of ERAS in patients undergoing lung surgery with minimal intervention throughout the perioperative period.

Methods: All patients who underwent lung surgery by micro-invasive video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) at Taizhou Municipal Hospital from August 2018 to August 2019 were consecutively enrolled in the study.

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is the most common chronic liver disease. Hepatic lipid deposition is a key factor in the development of NAFLD. N-methyladenosine (mA) modification, the most prevalent mRNA modification in eukaryotic cells, plays an important role in regulating hepatic lipid metabolism.

Background: Neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) for breast cancer enables pathological complete response (pCR) in patients initially diagnosed with axillary lymph node metastases, potentially obviating the need for axillary lymph node dissection (ALND). Current targeted axillary dissection (TAD) techniques, guided by traditional tissue markers placed prior to NAC, face challenges such as marker loss and high costs. Carbon nanoparticle suspension injection (CNSI) offers a stable and reliable alternative for marking, which could enhance the TAD procedure.

Investigation of gut microbiota disorders in norovirus infected children patients based on 16s rRNA sequencing.

Ann Med

December 2024

Supervision Section No. 4, Taizhou Customs, Taizhou City, Zhejiang, China.

Article Synopsis
  • Norovirus is a major cause of viral gastroenteritis and can disrupt the gut microbiota, which is important for immune health.
  • A study analyzed stool samples from 31 norovirus-infected children and 25 healthy controls to understand the differences in gut microbiota composition and function.
  • The findings revealed that norovirus infection results in reduced species diversity in gut microbiota and alters functional profiles, suggesting it negatively impacts children's gut health.

Antioxidant and free radical resistance has been a key concern of tissue engineering. In this study, Hydroxyapatite (HAp) with osteogenic activity and Oligomeric Proantho Cyanidins (OPC) with antioxidant activity were chemically grafted to prepare gelatin-based biofunctional aerogel (GHPOS). SEM results confirmed that these aerogels exhibited obvious macroporous structure and could provide a suitable microenvironment for bone cell growth.

Use of high-resolution fluorescence in situ hybridization for fast and robust detection of SARS-CoV-2 RNAs.

Sci Rep

September 2024

School of Medical, Molecular and Forensic Sciences, Murdoch University, 90 South Street, Murdoch, WA, 6149, Australia.

Early, rapid, and accurate diagnostic tests play critical roles not only in the identification/management of individuals infected by SARS-CoV-2, but also in fast and effective public health surveillance, containment, and response. Our aim has been to develop a fast and robust fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) detection method for detecting SARS-CoV-2 RNAs by using an HEK 293 T cell culture model. At various times after being transfected with SARS-CoV-2 E and N plasmids, HEK 293 T cells were fixed and then hybridized with ATTO-labeled short DNA probes (about 20 nt).
