Lung adenocarcinoma is the most common and aggressive type of lung cancer with the highest incidence of bone metastasis. Epidermal growth factor-like domain multiple 6 (EGFL6) is an exocrine protein, and the expression of EGFL6 is correlated with survival of patient with lung adenocarcinoma. However, the association between EGFL6 expression in lung adenocarcinoma and bone metastasis has not been investigated.

Department of Gastrointestinal Surgery, Key Laboratory of Minimally Invasive Techniques & Rapid Rehabilitation of Digestive System Tumor of Zhejiang Province, Taizhou Hospital of Zhejiang Province affiliated to Wenzhou Medical University, No. 150, Ximen Street, Linhai, Taizhou, 317000, Zhejiang, China.

Article Synopsis
  • * Research involved injecting MSC-exos into mice with RE and analyzing the effects on intestinal stem cells, revealing MSC-exos reduced inflammation, promoted stem cell marker expression, and maintained intestinal tissue integrity.
  • * The study concluded that MSC-exos help treat RE by stimulating the proliferation of intestinal stem cells and regulating key pathways (miR-195, Akt, and Wnt/β-catenin) that influence cell growth and inflammatory responses.

Modeling study of divertor particle flow pattern and in-out plasma density asymmetry due to drifts with SOLPS and BOUT+.

Sci Rep

June 2023

Key Laboratory of Radiation Oncology of Taizhou, Radiation Oncology Institute of Enze Medical Health Academy, Department of Radiation Oncology, Taizhou Hospital Affiliated to Wenzhou Medical University, Taizhou, 317000, Zhejiang Province, China.

A study of the effects of drifts on the particle flow pattern and in-out divertor plasma density asymmetry for L-mode and H-mode plasmas is carried out for EAST discharges by the edge plasma transport codes SOLPS and BOUT++ . The simulation of L-mode plasmas is done by SOLPS while the simulation of H-mode plasmas is done by BOUT++ . The toroidal magnetic field direction for the simulated discharge is artificially reversed in the codes to study the effects of different drift directions on the divertor particle flow pattern and the in-out asymmetry of divertor plasma density.

Article Synopsis
  • The study explores the role of TREM-1 as a potential new biomarker for clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) by analyzing its relationship with the tumor immune microenvironment and patient prognosis.
  • Using algorithms like ESTIMATE and CIBERSORT, researchers found that TREM-1 is linked to the presence of various immune cells and plays a role in important immune pathways.
  • Increased levels of TREM-1 were observed in higher tumor grades and were associated with poorer patient outcomes, suggesting it could be valuable for enhancing immunotherapy strategies.

LAMP2A regulates the balance of mesenchymal stem cell adipo-osteogenesis via the Wnt/β-catenin/GSK3β signaling pathway.

J Mol Med (Berl)

July 2023

Department of Orthopedic Surgery of the Second Affiliated Hospital, School of Medicine, Zhejiang University, No. 88, Jiefang Road, Hangzhou, 310009, China.

Chaperone-mediated autophagy (CMA) plays multiple roles in cell metabolism. We found that lysosome-associated membrane protein type 2A (LAMP2A), a crucial protein of CMA, plays a key role in the control of mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) adipo-osteogenesis. We identified a differentially expressed CMA gene (LAMP2) in GEO datasets (GSE4911 and GSE494).

In the sulfotransferase (SULT) superfamily, members of the SULT1 family mainly catalyse the sulfonation reaction of phenolic compounds, which is involved in the phase II metabolic detoxification process and plays a key role in endocrine homeostasis. A coding variant rs1059491 in the SULT1A2 gene has been reported to be associated with childhood obesity. This study aimed to investigate the association of rs1059491 with the risk of obesity and cardiometabolic abnormalities in adults.

Aspartate β-hydroxylase (ASPH) Accelerates Intrahepatic Cholangiocarcinoma Metastasis Upregulating SHH Signaling Pathway.

Curr Protein Pept Sci

July 2023

Department of Hepatic Surgery, Eastern Hepatobiliary Surgery Hospital, Naval Medical University, Shanghai, 200438, China.

Background: Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) is a highly aggressive malignancy with a poor prognosis. Aspartate β-hydroxylase (ASPH) is an α-ketoglutarate-dependent dioxygenase involved in the post-translational hydroxylation of target proteins. ASPH has been demonstrated to be upregulated in ICC, yet its role remains to be elucidated.

Purpose: to develop a radiogenomic model on the basis of F-FDG PET/CT radiomics and clinical-parameter EGFR for predicting PFS stratification in lung-cancer patients after SBRT treatment.

Methods: A total of 123 patients with lung cancer who had undergone F-FDG PET/CT examination before SBRT from September 2014 to December 2021 were retrospectively analyzed. All patients' PET/CT images were manually segmented, and the radiomic features were extracted.

Objectives: Waning vaccine-induced immunity and emergence of new severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) variants which may lead to immune escape, pose a major threat to the COVID-19 pandemic. Currently, enhanced efficacy of the neutralization antibodies (NAb) produced after the booster dose of vaccinations against the Omicron variant is the main focus of vaccine strategy research. In this study we have analyzed the potency of the NAbs and IgGs produced after the third vaccine dose in patients infected with Omicron variant and wild-type (WT) SARS-CoV-2.

Hepatocyte-derived extracellular vesicles miR-122-5p promotes hepatic ischemia reperfusion injury by regulating Kupffer cell polarization.

Electronic address:

Ischemia reperfusion injury remains a major barrier to liver transplantation, especially using grafts from donation after circulatory death, and it is also a pressing issue to be solved in clinical practice. Kupffer cell polarization toward a proinflammatory M1 phenotype is an early trigger of liver ischemia-reperfusion injury. However, the molecular mechanism regulating Kupffer cell polarization has not yet been fully elucidated.

Whether thymectomy (TM) or thymomectomy (TMM) is better for non-myasthenic patients with early-stage thymoma. We conducted a meta-analysis to compare the clinical outcomes and prognoses of non-myasthenic patients with early-stage thymoma treated using thymectomy versus thymomectomy. PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library and CNKI databases were systematically searched for relevant studies on the surgical treatment (TM and TMM) of non-myasthenic patients with early-stage thymoma published before March 2022.

Radiother Oncol

June 2023

From Department of Radiation Oncology, Taizhou Hospital Affiliated to Wenzhou Medical University, Zhejiang Province 317000, China; Department of Radiation Oncology, Xi'an No.3 Hospital, the Affiliated Hospital of Northwest University, Xi'an, Shaanxi 710018, China. Electronic address:

Background: Although adaptive radiotherapy (ART) has many advantages, ART is not universal in the clinical appliance due to the consumption of a lot of labor, and economic burden. It is necessary to explore a CT stimulation-based radiomics model for screening who can get more benefits from ART in locally advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients.

Method: 183 cases of NSCLC patients receiving concurrent chemoradiotherapy with an adaptive approach were enrolled as a primary cohort, while 28 cases from another hospital served as an independent external validation cohort.
