Neuroticism and openness exhibit an anti-correlation pattern to dissociable default mode network: using resting connectivity and structural equation modeling analysis.

The default mode network (DMN) can be subdivided into ventral and dorsal subsystems, which serve affective cognition and mental sense construction, respectively. An internally dissociated pattern of anti-correlations was observed between these two subsystems. Although numerous studies on neuroticism and openness have demonstrated the neurological functions of the DMN, little is known about whether different subsystems and hubs regions within the network are engaged in different functions in response to the two traits.

Objectives: Small vessel cerebrovascular disease (SVCVD) accounts for 35% to 67% of vascular dementias, and may be overlooked by healthcare providers due to its insidious onset. SVCVD involves chronic cerebral ischemia and hypoperfusion, endothelial dysfunction, blood-brain barrier disruption, and interstitial fluid reflux. The purpose of this study was to investigate the clinical efficacy of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) combined with donepezil hydrochloride compared to donepezil alone in the treatment of mild-to-moderate cognitive impairment in patients with SVCVD.

Extraskeletal myxoid chondrosarcoma of the buttock: a case report and literature review.

Background: Extraosseous myxoid chondrosarcoma (EMC) is extremely rare, and the case we report is of a particular site with partial bone destruction.

Case Presentation: This case report can further strengthen the understanding of EMC and guide clinical treatment. The patient presented with a right buttock mass that was present for 1 year and that had gradually enlarged with tenderness for 6 months.

Cortical structural changes of morphometric similarity network in early-onset schizophrenia correlate with specific transcriptional expression patterns.

Background: This study aimed to investigate the neuroanatomical subtypes among early-onset schizophrenia (EOS) patients by exploring the association between structural alterations and molecular mechanisms using a combined analysis of morphometric similarity network (MSN) changes and specific transcriptional expression patterns.

Methods: We recruited 206 subjects aged 7 to 17 years, including 100 EOS patients and 106 healthy controls (HC). Heterogeneity through discriminant analysis (HYDRA) was used to identify the EOS subtypes within the MSN strength.

Effect of various Er:YAG laser conditioning energies on dentin surface: micromorphological investigation and dentin-resin shear bond strength test.

The aim of this study is to assess the influence of various Er:YAG laser energies on dentin surface micromorphology and dentine-resin shear bond strength (SBS). Eighty dentin specimens were prepared and divided randomly into ten groups: control group (CG), phosphoric acid-etched group (AG), four laser-conditioned groups treated with various pulse energies of 40, 60, 80, and 100 mJ (L40, L60, L80, L100), and four laser-conditioned acid-etched groups (LA40, LA60, LA80, LA100). Two specimens from each group underwent scanning electron microscopy examination, while the remaining six were subjected to the dentin-resin SBS test.

Effects of biological agents on glycogen metabolism in psoriasis patients: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

The effectiveness and safety of biological agents for treating psoriasis have been confirmed; however, their effects on glucose metabolism biomarkers in psoriasis patients remain unclear. A systematic review and meta-analysis were performed according to PRISMA guidelines. The final analysis enrolled 12 studies, including eight randomized controlled trial (RCT) (n = 5628 patients) and four observational cohort studies (OBSs) (n = 393 patients).

Biomechanical evaluation and optimal design of a pedicle screw with double bent rods internal fixation system based on PE-PLIF fusion.

Problems, such as broken screws, broken rods, and cage subsidence after clinical spinal fusion surgery affect the success rate of fusion surgery and the fixation effect of fusion segments, and these problems still affect the treatment and postoperative recovery of patients. In this study, we used the biomechanical finite element analysis method to analyze and study the fixation effect of three kinds of spinal internal fixation systems on L4-L5 lumbar spine segments in percutaneous endoscopic posterior lumbar interbody fusion (PE-PLIF). The three different fixation systems compared in this study include bilateral pedicle screw fixation (M1); bilateral pedicle screw with cross-link fixation (M2); bilateral pedicle screws with double bent rods fixation (M3).

IL-17A is involved in the hyperplasia of blood vessels in local lesions of psoriasis by inhibiting autophagy.

Objective: Increased angiogenesis is a pathological feature of psoriasis, but the pathomechanisms of angiogenesis in psoriasis are not clear. Interleukin-17A (IL-17A) is the major effect factor in the pathogenesis of psoriasis. Our results showed that IL-17A can promote angiogenesis and cause endothelial cell inflammation.

Plasma exosomes lncRNA-miRNA-mRNA network construction and its diagnostic efficacy identification in first-episode schizophrenia.

Background: The exosomal lncRNA-miRNA-mRNA networks in first episode schizophrenia (FOS) have not reported yet. This study examined the lncRNA, miRNA and mRNA expression level in exosome derived from first episode schizophrenia (FOS) patients, and explored the the potential of exosomes as biomarkers for schizophrenia.

Methods: We recruited 10 FOS patients and healthy controls (HCs) respectively, examined the lncRNA, miRNA and mRNA expression level of plasma exosome by high throughput sequencing, constructed lncRNA-miRNA-mRNA network, and performed correlation analysis, GO and KEGG pathway analysis, PPI network construction and ROC analysis.

EDIL3 and VEGF Synergistically Affect Angiogenesis in Endothelial Cells.

Background: Angiogenesis is one of the histologically predominant characteristics of psoriasis. Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and epidermal growth factor-like repeats and discoidin I-like domains 3 (EDIL3) have critical effects on angiogenesis. Both these proteins are vital proangiogenic factors in tumor occurrence and progression; however, the relationship between EDIL3 and VEGF with psoriasis remains unclear.

Introduction: The platelet-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), and systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) are markers for systemic inflammatory responses and have been shown by numerous studies to correlate with the prognosis of gastric cancer (GC). However, the diagnostic value of these three markers in GC is unclear, and no research has examined them in combination. In this study, we investigated the value of the PLR, NLR, and SII individually or in combination for GC diagnosis and elucidated the connection of these three markers with GC patients' clinicopathological features.
