Metadherin (MTDH) is a protein that is also named astrocyte elevated gene-1, and is highly expressed in a number of different tumor tissues. Although the expression of MTDH is associated with tumor invasion and recurrence, the expression of this protein in perihilar cholangiocarcinoma (PCCA) and its clinical use have not yet been investigated. In the present study, the expression of MTDH in patients with PCCA was investigated in order to determine its clinicopathological use.

Radiotherapy is an important treatment modality for laryngeal carcinoma, however, some patients with early stage laryngeal carcinomas showed resistance to radiotherapy. Survivin overexpression is associated with radioresistance of laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma. We speculated that the inhibition of survivin expression might improve the radiosensitivity of laryngeal carcinoma.

Department of Chemical Biology, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Peking University, Beijing 100191, China. Electronic address:

A novel 2-pyridinone scaffold was rationally designed and synthesized based on the active anti-HIV agent 1 (LAM-trans) via an efficient method. The biological results revealed that some target compounds inhibited HIV-1 reverse transcriptase in the lower micromolar concentration range (IC50 0.089-0.

Background: Numerous studies have investigated the association of matrix metalloproteinase 1 (MMP1) rs1799750 single nucleotide polymorphism with lung cancer susceptibility, but the findings are inconsistent. Therefore, we performed a meta-analysis to comprehensively evaluate any possible association.

Methods: We searched publications from MEDLINE, EMBASE and CNKI databases which assessed links between the MMP1 rs1799750 polymorphism and lung cancer risk.
