Type 2 diabetes has become a significant global health challenge. Numerous drugs have been developed to treat the condition, either as standalone therapies or in combination when glycemic control cannot be achieved with a single medication. As existing treatments often come with limitations, there is an increasing focus on creating novel therapeutic agents that offer greater efficacy and fewer side effects to better address this widespread issue.

The antioxidant/antiapoptotic features of dapagliflozin (DPG) have mediated its beneficial actions against several experimental models. However, no studies have been conducted to determine whether DPG mitigates the renal injury triggered by cadmium (Cd). Herein, DPG was studied for its potential to attenuate kidney damage in Cd-intoxicated rats, as well as to unravel the mechanisms involving oxidative events, autophagy, and apoptosis.

In this study, new monolithic poly(9-anthracenylmethyl methacrylate-co-trimethylolpropane trimethacrylate (TRIM) columns, referred as ANM monoliths were prepared, for the first time, and were used for the separation media for biomolecules and proteomics analysis by nano-liquid chromatography (nano-LC). Monolithic columns were prepared by in situ polymerization of 9-anthracenylmethyl methacrylate (ANM) and trimethylolpropane trimethacrylate (TRIM) in a fused silica capillary column of 100 µm ID. Polymerization solution was optimized in relation to monomer and porogenic solvent.

: Invasive breast cancer (BC) was traditionally investigated visually, and no technique could identify the key molecular drivers of patient survival. However, essential molecular drivers of invasive BC have now been discovered using innovative genomic, transcriptomic, and proteomic methodologies. Nevertheless, few evaluations of the prognostic factors of BC in Saudi Arabia have been performed.

COVID-19 has significantly impacted lives, and data show that receiving a booster vaccination has been demonstrated to lower the spread of COVID-19 and reduce the severity of the risk of infection. The Saudi government has actively promoted booster dose vaccines among university students who can spread the virus to older populations, especially in high-density environments, where the risk of virus transmission and spread is elevated. This study focuses on the acceptance of COVID-19 booster shots among students at Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University.

This study investigated the biosynthesis, statistical optimization, characterization, and biocontrol activity of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) produced by newly isolated sp. The strain TA-3N was identified based on the ITS gene sequence, together with its phenotypic characteristics (GenBank accession number: OM321439). The color change from light yellow to brown after the incubation period indicates AgNPs biosynthesis.

: In the United States, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a significant cause of mortality. As far as we know, it is a chronic, inflammatory lung condition that cuts off airflow to the lungs. Many symptoms have been reported for such a disease: breathing problems, coughing, wheezing, and mucus production.

Many existing control techniques proposed in the literature tend to overlook faults and physical limitations in the systems, which significantly restricts their applicability to practical, real-world systems. Consequently, there is an urgent necessity to advance the control and synchronization of such systems in real-world scenarios, specifically when faced with the challenges posed by faults and physical limitations in their control actuators. Motivated by this, our study unveils an innovative control approach that combines a neural network-based sliding mode algorithm with fuzzy logic systems to handle nonlinear systems.

This study introduces a novel synchronous spectrofluorimetry coupled with chemometric tools for the determination of tenofovir and dolutegravir antiretroviral drugs. Utilizing partial least squares regression (PLS) fine-tuned by genetic algorithm as variable selection tool, the developed models demonstrate greater sensitivity, cost-effectiveness, and reduced environmental impact compared to traditional HPLC methods. The model's validation was further confirmed using external validation in addition to QC samples as per ICH M10 guidelines, which yielded high accuracy ranged between 94.

Background: Attentional engagement, the ability to maintain focus on relevant tasks, plays a crucial role in optimizing human performance. Studies have shown that athletes exhibit superior attentional engagement compared to non-athletes; however, it remains unclear if these benefits persist in non-sport-related tasks or differ across types of sports expertise, such as open-skill versus closed-skill sports.
Methods: Ninety-three young adults, divided into open-skill athletes ( = 31), closed-skill athletes ( = 31), and a control group ( = 31), completed an auditory oddball task while the P3 component of event-related potentials was measured to assess attentional processing.

Background: Despite numerous genetic studies on Infectious Bronchitis Virus (IBV), many strains from the Middle East remain misclassified or unclassified. Genotype 1 (GI-1) is found globally, while genotype 23 (GI-23) has emerged as the predominant genotype in the Middle East region, evolving continuously through inter- and intra-genotypic recombination. The GI-23 genotype is now enzootic in Europe and Asia.

This paper seeks to enhance the performance of Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficients (MFCCs) for detecting abnormal heart sounds. Heart sounds are first pre-processed to remove noise and then segmented into S1, systole, S2, and diastole intervals, with thirteen MFCCs estimated from each segment, yielding 52 MFCCs per beat. Finally, MFCCs are used for heart sound classification.
