Objectives: This single-arm, open-label, single-center observational pilot study assessed the safety and efficacy of ultrahigh-frequency dorsal root ganglia (UHF-DRG) stimulation in patients with chronic leg pain with or without low back pain. Such high-frequency electrostimulation had not been conducted in the human central nervous system previously.
Materials And Methods: The primary objective was to evaluate the safety of UHF-DRG stimulation (2 Hz pulses with 50 msec pulse-width and 500 kHz intrapulse sine waves, 5-min duration per stimulation) by identifying incident adverse events (AE) and severe adverse events (SAE) during the trial.

Patients And Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted with 83 patients who had multiple chronic diseases. Variables from patients included age, gender, severity of clinical dementia rating, feeding, hypnotics, mobility, getting lost, mood symptoms, and behavioral and psychological symptoms.

Aim: Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ), commonly used to treat patients with primary Sjögren's syndrome (pSS), has been shown to delay the development of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). This study aimed to explore the association between HCQ use and future development of SLE in pSS patients based on a nationwide nested case-control study.
Method: Based on the National Health Insurance Research Database of Taiwan, those patients who were diagnosed with SLE at least 1 year after the diagnosis of pSS were identified as cases.

After admission to emergency department (ED), patients with critical illnesses are transferred to intensive care unit (ICU) due to unexpected clinical deterioration occurrence. Identifying such unplanned ICU transfers is urgently needed for medical physicians to achieve two-fold goals: improving critical care quality and preventing mortality. A priority task is to understand the crucial rationale behind diagnosis results of individual patients during stay in ED, which helps prepare for an early transfer to ICU.

Objective: To retrospectively analyze the outcomes and complications of patients with metastatic thoracic spinal tumors (MTTs) who underwent posterior corpectomies.
Methods: Ninety patients with MTTs who underwent posterior corpectomies were retrospectively analyzed. Characteristics evaluated included number of MTTs per year, location, involved vertebrae numbers, sex, histology, pre- and postoperative American Spinal Injury Association (ASIA) grade, visual analog scale (VAS) pain scores, operative time, blood loss, and length of hospital stay.
