It was reported that serum apurinic/apyrimidinic endodeoxyribonuclease 1 (APEX1) level was higher in acute myocardial infarction (AMI) patients than in angina. This study aimed to investigate the role and mechanism of APEX1 in AMI progression. The mRNA and protein levels of APEX1 and zinc finger CCHC domain containing 9 (ZCCHC9) in blood specimens of AMI patients and normal controls were determined by RT-qPCR and Western blot assays, respectively.

On this basis, several surgical procedures for preserving the anal sphincter have been proposed. The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of transanal opening of intersphincteric space for treating HCAF.

Improving drug response prediction via integrating gene relationships with deep learning.

Predicting the drug response of cancer cell lines is crucial for advancing personalized cancer treatment, yet remains challenging due to tumor heterogeneity and individual diversity. In this study, we present a deep learning-based framework named Deep neural network Integrating Prior Knowledge (DIPK) (DIPK), which adopts self-supervised techniques to integrate multiple valuable information, including gene interaction relationships, gene expression profiles and molecular topologies, to enhance prediction accuracy and robustness. We demonstrated the superior performance of DIPK compared to existing methods on both known and novel cells and drugs, underscoring the importance of gene interaction relationships in drug response prediction.

Efficacy and safety of video-assisted anal fistula treatment in anorectal fistula: a meta-analysis.

Introduction: By searching relevant literature, the recurrence rate, complication rate after video-assisted anal fistula treatment (VAAFT), and efficacy and safety of the treatment were analyzed.

Evidence Acquisition: Articles that reported the outcomes of VAAFT up to December 2020 were searched in PubMed (Medline) and Cochrane Library, in accordance with the preferred reporting items for systematic review and meta-analysis (PRISMA) screening guidelines. Two researchers independently completed the whole process from screening and inclusion to quality evaluation and bias risk assessment, and the data was included in the RevMan 5.

The posttraumatic cognitive appraisal inventory (PTCAI): development and validation.

Objective: This study aims to develop and validate the Posttraumatic Cognitive Appraisal Inventory (PTCAI) for accidental trauma survivors.

Method: Based on interviews and expert feedback, the initial item pool was generated for the Negative Cognitive Appraisal Inventory of Loss and Feeling Threatened, and the Positive Cognitive Appraisal Inventory of Positively Face, Self-Sense, and Relationships. Then, we recruited two groups of accidental trauma survivors to examine the reliability and validity of the PTCAI.

Background: The triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index is regarded as a sophisticated surrogate biomarker for insulin resistance, offering a refined means for evaluating cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). Hospital biosecurity capacitation: Analysis and recommendations for the prevention and control of COVID-19.

The outbreak of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in December 2019 highlighted several concerns regarding hospital biosafety capacitation in the People's Republic of China, although the epidemic is now under control. This study examined the primary problems related to hospital biosecurity, including the absence of a hospital emergency system, inadequate management and control of nosocomial infection, limited hospital laboratory capacity, and poor hospital admission capacity. Accordingly, this study puts forward the following countermeasures and suggestions for hospitals to deal with future biosecurity events, such as a major epidemic: first, biosecurity management systems and emergency response mechanisms in hospitals need to be set up; second, the investment and guarantee mechanisms for hospital biosecurity construction should be improved; third, the capacity building of biosecurity incident management requires special attention in general hospitals; and finally, comprehensive plans need to be developed for the integrated construction of medical treatment and prevention facilities through disease-control systems.
