Background: In this case series, we present longitudinal imaging surveillance of 6 cases of osseous sarcoidosis, each of which was effectively treated with tumor necrosis factor (TNF) inhibition.

Methods: We identified 6 patients from Brooke Army Medical Center with osseous sarcoidosis, who were treated with TNF inhibition and followed with longitudinal imaging studies. Cases of osseous sarcoidosis were defined as having pathologic evidence of noncaseating granulomas on bone biopsy and evidence of osseous lesions on imaging attributable to sarcoidosis by the radiologist, treating clinician, and reviewer.

While our understanding of the neurobiological mechanisms underlying cocaine and opiate reward has historically been dopamine-focused, evidence from genetic and pharmacological approaches indicates that µ-opioid receptors (MORs) in the striatum are important contributors. Near-infrared (NIR) chemiluminescent probes have attracted increasing attention in recent years due to their attractive properties for imaging. Herein, we developed a NIR chemiluminophore silicon rhodamine (SiRCL-1) based on the intramolecular energy transfer process from excited state benzoate to a silicon rhodamine emitter under aqueous conditions. SiRCL-1 exhibited dual emission peaks at 540 nm and 680 nm with a high signal penetration through tissue at 680 nm (>30 mm) and long-lasting luminescence (>50 min), demonstrating its significance as a chemiluminescence scaffold for biological application.

Objective: This article organizes and summarizes the evidence describing CVD risk factors in AI/AN children, discusses the social drivers of health impacting these risks, and highlights several programs that have demonstrated effectiveness in improving AI/AN child health.

Background: Computed tomography (CT)-guided hook-wire localization is currently the most commonly used technique for preoperative localization of pulmonary nodules in clinical practice. With the increasing incidence of multiple primary lung cancers and the increasing occurrence of second primary lung cancers or local recurrences after lung cancer surgery, some patients need to undergo an ipsilateral or contralateral second pulmonary resection. Despite declines in child mortality rates, experiencing a child death remains a common feature of motherhood in many contemporary African populations. Yet, we lack population insights into the consequences of child death for mothers' well-being in the high-mortality regions where it concentrates. Contrasting an extensive psychology literature on the severe and long-lasting consequences of child death for parents in low-mortality settings, a long-standing thesis in multiple social science literature is that the normativity of child death in high-mortality settings can lead to a numbing effect-muting parents' reactions to child loss.

This article describes a pediatric diabetes center quality improvement initiative to switch youth with type 1 diabetes and diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) from insulin glargine to longer-duration insulin degludec to determine whether this change would reduce DKA recurrence. Overall, the change in DKA recurrence with degludec was not statistically significant. However, subgroup analysis showed that race/ethnicity and insurance status were significantly associated with change in DKA rates.
