Background: Primary hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and colorectal liver metastases (CRLM) represent the liver's two most common malignant neoplasms. Liver-directed therapies such as ablation have become part of multidisciplinary therapies despite a paucity of data. Therefore, an expert panel was convened to develop evidence-based recommendations regarding the use of microwave ablation (MWA) and radiofrequency ablation (RFA) for HCC or CRLM less than 5 cm in diameter in patients ineligible for other therapies.

Congenital urethral atresia is generally considered to be incompatible with life unless there is either a patent urachus or vesicoamniotic shunt. Here we present the case of a male neonate with anhydramnios detected at 28weeks gestation due to urethral atresia, who was born without evidence of either a patent urachus or vesicoamniotic shunt, who has survived and is not requiring respiratory support at age 5months. While this is a thought-provoking clinical case, it also highlights the importance of early and effective parental engagement in cases of complex congenital anomalies of the urinary tract.

Clusters that can be experimentally precisely characterized and theoretically accurately calculated are essential to understanding the relationship between material structure and function. Here, we propose the concept of "supraclusters", which aim to connect "supramolecules" and "suprananoparticles" as well as reveal the unique assembly behavior of "supraclusters" with nanoparticle size at the molecular level. The implementation of supraclusters is full of challenges due to the difficulty in satisfying the ordered connectivity of clusters due to their abundant and dispersed hydrogen bonding sites.

Introduction: Robotic-assisted total knee arthroplasty (RA-TKA) has become increasingly popular, although an associated learning curve can be a deterrent for some surgeons. Prior studies have addressed this learning curve in fellowship-trained arthroplasty surgeons, however the learning curve among non-fellowship-trained surgeons remains unclear. The objective of this study was to investigate the learning curve for imageless RA-TKA related to operative time and rates of complications among two non-arthroplasty-trained orthopedic surgeons.

Transition metal phosphides are highly efficient catalysts that do not rely on noble metals, which have shown great potential in replacing noble metal catalysts and contributing to the advancement of the electrocatalytic hydrogen production industry. To further enhance the catalytic performance of transition metal phosphides, researchers have discovered that cationic vacancy defects can be utilized to regulate their electronic structure, thereby improving their catalytic properties. In this research, we present the successful synthesis of a bifunctional NiP electrocatalyst (V-NiP) with cationic vacancy defects through electrodeposition and acid etching techniques.

Background: Granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF)-mediated mobilization of hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) is a well-established method to prepare HSCs for transplantation nowadays. A sufficient number of HSCs is critical for successful HSC transplantation. However, approximately 2-6% of healthy stem cell donors are G-CSF-poor mobilizers for unknown reasons; thus increasing the uncertainties of HSC transplantation.

Lymphedema and specifically cancer-related lymphedema is not the main focus for both patients and physicians dealing with cancer. Its etiology is an unfortunate complication of cancer treatment. Although lymphedema treatments have gained an appreciable consensus, many practitioners have developed and prefer their own specific protocols and this is especially true for conventional (manual) versus surgical treatments.

The human brain comprises an intricate web of connections that generate complex neural networks capable of storing and processing information. This information depends on multiple factors, including underlying network structure, connectivity, and interactions; and thus, methods to characterize neural networks typically aim to unravel and interpret a combination of these factors. Here, we present four-dimensional (4D) Shannon's entropy, a novel quantitative metric of network activity based on the Triple Correlation Uniqueness (TCU) theorem.

Fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) is a life-changing treatment for people with recurrent Clostridioides difficile infection (rCDI). Frequently acquired in the hospital, CDI can cause serious gastrointestinal symptoms, including persistent watery diarrhea, abdominal pain, and severe dehydration. Antibiotics, the primary treatment, can unfortunately disrupt the gut microbiome and lead to antimicrobial resistance.

Mid-systolic notching (MSN) of the pulmonary valve Doppler signal represents a reflected systolic pressure wave from the pulmonary vasculature and is often seen in pulmonary hypertension (PH). We hypothesize that MSN is associated with a higher pulmonary vascular resistance (PVR) and mean pulmonary artery pressure (mPAP), and a diagnosis of PH in pediatric patients. This was a retrospective study of patients ≤ 18 years who had an echocardiogram obtained ≤ 30 days before catheterization for suspected PH.

The importance of developing a robust remote workforce in academic radiology has come to the forefront owing to several converging factors. COVID-19, as well as the abrupt transformation it precipitated in terms of how radiologists work, has been the biggest impetus for change; concurrent factors such as increasing examination volumes and radiologist burnout have also contributed. How to best advance the most desirable and favorable aspects of remote work while preserving an academic environment that fulfills the tripartite mission is a critical challenge that nearly all academic institutions face today.

Kidney dysfunction is common among liver transplant candidates with decompensated cirrhosis and has a major impact on pre- and post-liver transplant survival. Updated definitions of acute kidney injury and criteria for the diagnosis of hepatorenal syndrome allow for early recognition and intervention, including early initiation of vasoconstrictor therapy for hepatorenal syndrome. The rise of the metabolic syndrome and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease as a cause of cirrhosis has coincided with an increase in intrinsic chronic kidney disease recognized in transplant candidates and recipients.
