Center for Reproductive Medicine, Department of Reproductive Endocrinology, Zhejiang Provincial People's Hospital (Affiliated People's Hospital, Hangzhou Medical College), Hangzhou, China. Electronic address:

Stress urinary incontinence (SUI) is a common disease that seriously affects the quality of life of patients. In recent years, studies have shown that apolipoprotein E (ApoE) plays a role in neuroprotection and repair, but its specific role in SUI remains unclear. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of macromolecular protein ApoE related markers on the prognosis of rats with SUI treated by modified Buzhong Yiqi Decoction (MBZYQD), in order to provide a new target for the treatment of SUI.

Purpose: The clinical, pathological, gene expression, and prognosis of invasive mucinous adenocarcinoma (IMA) differ from those of invasive non-mucinous adenocarcinoma (INMA), but it is not easy to distinguish these two. This study aims to explore the value of combining CT-based radiomics features with clinic-radiological characteristics for preoperative diagnosis of solitary-type IMA and to establish an optimal diagnostic model.

Methods: In this retrospective study, a total of 220 patients were enrolled and randomly assigned to a training cohort (n = 154; 73 IMA and 81 INMA) and a testing cohort (n = 66; 31 IMA and 35 INMA).

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the relationship between cartilage endplate (CEP) degeneration and intervertebral disc degeneration from a biomechanical perspective.
  • Four advanced finite element models were developed to assess the impact of CEP degradation through various loading tests.
  • Findings indicate that while daily loading affects disc degeneration significantly, CEP degeneration has a minor effect, highlighting the importance of glycosaminoglycan content and CEP permeability in disc biomechanics.

Volume overload in peritoneal dialysis patients is a common issue that can lead to poor prognosis. We employed a group trajectory model to categorize volume load trajectories and examined the factors associated with each trajectory class to explore the impact of different trajectory groups on clinical prognosis and residual renal function (RRF). This single-center prospective cohort study included 214 patients on maintenance peritoneal dialysis within a tertiary hospital.

Introduction: The objective of this study is to develop a model based on indicators in the routine examination of neonates to effectively predict neonatal apnea.

Methods: We retrospectively analysed 8024 newborns from the MIMIC IV database, building logistic regression models and decision tree models. The performance of the model is examined by decision curves, calibration curves and ROC curves.

Article Synopsis
  • * The study involved creating three types of PEGylated acacetin to improve its solubility and anti-inflammatory properties, with PEG-Acacetin showing the most promise by significantly boosting plasma levels and demonstrating increased anti-inflammatory effects.
  • * In tests on mice, PEG-Acacetin effectively reduced bone loss caused by both lipopolysaccharide and ovariectomy, outperforming naked acacetin and suggesting it could be a strong candidate for osteoporosis treatment.

Background: Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a severe lung condition, and finding better ways to diagnose and treat the disease is crucial for improving patient outcomes. Our study sought to develop an artificial neural network (ANN) model for IPF and determine the immune cell types that differed between the IPF and control groups.

Methods: From the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database, we first obtained IPF microarray datasets.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the connection between neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and long-term mortality in patients who experienced acute ischemic stroke (AIS), focusing on a five-year follow-up.
  • Analysis of 416 AIS patients revealed that elevated NLR is significantly linked to an increased risk of both all-cause and vascular mortality over five years.
  • Multivariate analysis highlighted that factors like stroke history, NIHSS score, and NLR quartiles consistently predict higher mortality rates, with specific NLR cutoff values identified for better risk assessment.

This study examines the therapeutic effects of Shengmai Powder (SMP) on both in vitro and in vivo models of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and the underlying mechanisms. Cigarette smoke and cigarette extracts were used to create in vitro and in vivo models of COPD. ELISA was used to measure the levels of pro-inflammatory factors (IL-6, TNF-α, and IL-1β) in mouse lung tissue and alveolar macrophages.

Objectives: This study aimed to explore the effect of longitudinal body composition changes on mortality risk in patients undergoing hemodialysis and identify whether changes in body composition can more accurately predict mortality than baseline status.

Methods: A prospective cohort study was conducted on 340 patients undergoing hemodialysis. Lean mass and body fat were determined using a bioimpedance spectroscopy (BIS) device and expressed as the lean tissue index (LTI) or fat tissue index (FTI), respectively.

The nervous system interacts with the immune system through a variety of cellular regulators, signaling pathways, and molecular mechanisms. Disruptions in these interactions lead to the development of multiple neurological diseases. Recent studies have identified that specialized pro-resolving mediators (SPMs) play a regulatory role in the neuroimmune system.

In the context of the development of intervertebral disc degeneration (IDD), inflammatory mediators play a pivotal role. Nevertheless, due to the influence of the inflammatory microenvironment, the causal relationship between specific inflammatory mediators and the development of IDD remains uncertain. The understanding of the causal relationship between inflammatory mediators and IDD is of great importance in preventing and delaying disc degeneration in the future.
