Evaluation of ganglion cell complex and retinal nerve fiber layer in children with spina bifida using optical coherence tomography.

Purpose: Spina bifida (SB) is a congenital disorder caused by the incomplete fusion of the embryonic neural tube during spinal cord development. In this study, we used Spectral Domain Optic Coherence Tomography (SD-OCT) for retinal nerve fibre layer (RNFL) and ganglion cell complex (GCC) analyses and compared the results of healthy children and SB patients in a similar age group.

Methods: Our study was planned prospectively and conducted between June 2017 and July 2019.
