This prediction evaluates the different physical characteristics of magnetic materials XFeO (X = Mg, Ca and Sr) by using density functional theory (DFT). The generalized gradient approximation (GGA) approach is chosen to define the exchange and correlation potential. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of a 7-week supplemental BFR training intervention on both acute and chronic alterations in salivary testosterone (sTes) and cortisol (sCort) in collegiate American football players.

Methods: 58 males were divided into 4 groups: 3 completed an upper- and lower-body split resistance training routine (H, H/S, H/S/R; H = Heavy, S = Supplemental, R = BFR), with H/S/R performing end-of-session practical BFR training, and H/S serving as the volume-matched non-BFR group. The final group (M/S/R) completed modified resistance training programming with the same practical BFR protocol as H/S/R.

Ultrahigh piezoelectric performances of (K,Na)NbO based ceramics enabled by structural flexibility and grain orientation.

(K,Na)NbO-based ceramics are deemed among the most promising lead-free piezoelectric materials, though their overall piezoelectric performance still lags behind the mainstream lead-containing counterparts. Here, we achieve an ultrahigh piezoelectric charge coefficient d ∼ 807 pC·N, along with a high longitudinal electromechanical coupling factor (k ∼ 88%) and Curie temperature (T ∼ 245 °C) in the (K,Na)(NbSb)O-BiNaZrO-BiFeO (KNN-xSb) system through structural flexibility and grain orientation strategies. Phenomenological models, phase field simulations and high-angle annular dark-field scanning transmission electron microscopy reveal that the structural flexibility originates from the high Coulomb force between K/Na ions and Sb ions in the KNN-xSb system, while the grain orientation promotes the displacement of B-site cations leveraging the engineered domain configuration.

Context: Inspired by the newly synthesized endohedral fullerene T CH@C (1) and based on extensive density functional theory calculations, we predict herein a series of endohedral borafullerenes C CH@BC (4), T BH@BC (5), C HO@BC (6), C NH@BC (7), and T C@BC (8) which possess a BC (3) shell isovalent with C, with the neutral D C@BC (9) obtained from C@BC (8) by symmetric C─B substitutions. Detailed adaptive natural density partitioning (AdNDP) bonding analyses and iso-chemical shielding surfaces (ICSSs) calculations indicate that these core-shell species are spherically aromatic in nature, rendering high stability to the systems. More interestingly, based on the calculated effective donor-acceptor interaction between LP(O) → LV(B@BC) in HO@BC (6), we propose the concept of boron bond (BB) in chemistry which is defined as the in-phase orbital overlap between an electronegative atom A as lone-pair (LP) donor and an electron-deficient boron atom with a lone vacant (LV) orbital as LP acceptor.

Emergent superconductivity driven by Van Hove singularity in a Janus MoPS monolayer.

Two-dimensional (2D) Janus structures with the breaking of out-of-plane mirror symmetry can induce many interesting physical phenomena, and have attracted widespread attention. Herein, we propose a MoPS monolayer with mirror asymmetry, identified by first-principles structural search calculations, which demonstrates high thermodynamic and dynamic stability. Our findings reveal that Mo 4d-orbitals dominate the metallicity, significantly enhancing the density of states near the Fermi level due to Van Hove singularities (VHSs), leading to the existence of phonon-mediated superconductivity.
