As the world was still recovering from the 2020 pandemic, the devastating impact of Covid-19 driven by the Delta variant shook the world in 2021. As the second wave was declining, there was an unusual surge in Covid-19 positive cases by the end of 2021 which led to global concern about the change in virus characteristics. Whole genome sequencing is critical for understanding a rapidly progressing pandemic.

Perception of educational environment as a predictor of academic performance in physiotherapy students.

Background: Students' perception of their academic environment has a substantial influence on their actions, academic accomplishments, satisfaction, goal attainment, and behavior. Contained cardiac rupture: an autopsy case.

Rupture of the myocardium due to myocardial infarction is often fatal but when such patients survive, they present with a pseudoaneurysm where the defect is sealed by the pericardium preventing the complete rupture. This is described as a 'contained myocardial rupture'. We describe here a case of left ventricular contained myocardial rupture following an acute myocardial infarction.

A prospective study of adverse drug reactions to artemisinin-based combination therapy in a tertiary care hospital in India.

Membranous variety of rectal atresia - primary management in a neonate.

Traumatic optic neuropathy - our experience.

A great deal of controversy surrounds the physiology and management of traumatic optic neuropathy. Needless to say, it has formed the topic of much debate in the past, especially with regard to its surgical management. With the advances in sinus endoscopic procedures, and their extended applications to the orbit and optic nerve, endoscopic optic nerve decompression offers a very good chance for salvaging vision in patients with traumatic optic neuropathy.

A rare case of primary pancreatic Burkitt lymphoma in a young Indian male. Case report and review of the literature.

Context: Lymphomas of the gastrointestinal system are usually of a non-Hodgkin's type. Primary lymphomas of the pancreas are uncommon and Burkitt lymphoma involving the pancreas is very rare. It is important to recognize this entity because it can mimic adenocarcinoma but its management is entirely different.

Familial type IV hypertriglyceridemia presenting as hemiparesis with cerebellar signs.

Stroke in pediatric patients is distinctive as compare to adults. The authors report a rare case of familial hypertriglyceridemia type IV who had left hemiparesis with cerebellar signs. There was no history of oral trauma, head injury, convulsions, acute gastroenteritis, meningitis or otitis media.

Nasopharyngeal angiofibroma with cavernous sinus involvement - An unusual presentation.

Juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibrama (JNA) is a benign vascular tumour which is locally aggressive and occasionally extends intracranially. It occurs mainly in adolescent males. We report an interesting case of a targe JNA with intracranial extention encroaching on the cavernous sinus which we treated surgically by the conventional lateral rhinotomy and transpalatal approach.

Retraction pockets in chronic suppurative otitis media- our experience.

Retractions of the tympanic membrane constitute a large proportion of ear diseases causing concern to the otologist. The clinical features in a case of retraction pocket are varied and cholesteatoma. Also, that a retraction pocket in the posterosuperior region and pars ftaccida is a precursor of cholesteatoma is now well recognized.

Anaesthetic considerations of temporomandibular joint ankylosis with obstructive sleep apnoea: a case report.

The peroperative management of a 4 1/2 yr old child having bilateral recurrent temporomandibular joint (TMJ) ankylosis and obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) is presented here. From the anaesthesiologist's point of view, the patient demands special considerations as regards difficulty in intubation, high sensitivity to all central depressant drugs, awake extubation, and post-operative maintenance of a clear airway. It is to be concluded that these conditions call for strict adherence to the basic principles of airway management and close observation extending into the post-operative period.

Surgical decompression in bell's palsy - our viewpoint.
