Background: Eating disorders are more prevalent in Western countries and their prevalence is on the rise in India, mainly due to peer pressure and the influence of media. However, research on eating disorders is limited in India. The aim of this study is to estimate the prevalence of eating disorders among senior college students and to ascertain factors for eating disorder risk.

Background: With aging, women face various health issues, the most common of which are musculoskeletal disorders. Osteoarthritis accounts for 15% of all musculoskeletal disorders in patients above the age of 45 years but receives little attention. This study aims to estimate the proportion of women above 45 years suffering from Osteoarthritis (OA) knee and to ascertain its risk determinants.

Phosphaturic Mesenchymal Tumor in the Proximal Femur Presenting as Tumor-induced Osteomalacia: A Case Report and Literature Review.

Introduction: An uncommon medical disorder known as tumor-induced osteomalacia (TIO) is characterized by severe hypophosphatemia, renal phosphate wasting, and osteomalacia due to a tumor. TIO has recently been linked to a particular kind of tumor known as phosphaturic mesenchymal tumor (PMT). PMTs release phosphatonins, such as fibroblast growth factor-23 (FGF23), which elevates serum levels of FGF23, leading to phosphate wasting and osteomalacia.

Background: Phototherapy in its different forms, is mainstay of vitiligo management. Combining treatment modalities like topical calcipotriol (for quicker, more intense repigmentation), Low dose azathioprine with PUVA have proven to be beneficial in management of vitiligo due to different mechanisms of repigmentation and their synergistic effects. Topical bFGF-related decapeptide (bFGFrP) application followed by sun exposure/ UVA phototherapy yields effective repigmentation.

Public disclosure of clinical trial results at Clinical Trial Registry of India- Need for transparency in research!

Introduction: Since June 15, 2009, clinical trial registration in the Clinical Trial Registry-India (CTRI) has been made mandatory by the Drugs Controller General of India to improve transparency, accountability, conform to accepted ethical standards and reporting of all relevant results of registered trials. In this study, we planned to evaluate the compliance of Indian and global sponsors with clinical trials conducted in India in terms of reporting of clinical trial results at the CTRI.

Methods: We included trials registered in the CTRI between January 2018 and January 2020.

Anti-retroviral Therapy-Induced Multiple Pathological Fractures in a HIV-Positive Young Female: A Case Report and Review of Literature.

Introduction: A higher prevalence of osteoporosis and osteopenia, as well as an increased risk of fracture is seen in patients with HIV infection. Anti-retroviral therapy (ART) is the one of the factors associated with pathological fractures in those patients. We present one case with multiple pathological fractures secondary to severe osteoporosis in a known case of HIV on Tenofovir-based ART.

A comparative analysis of the second and third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic: an experience from a tertiary care hospital in Western India.

As the world was still recovering from the 2020 pandemic, the devastating impact of Covid-19 driven by the Delta variant shook the world in 2021. As the second wave was declining, there was an unusual surge in Covid-19 positive cases by the end of 2021 which led to global concern about the change in virus characteristics. Whole genome sequencing is critical for understanding a rapidly progressing pandemic.

Outcomes of Tendon Transfer Surgery for Correction of Ulnar Claw Hand: A Case Series.

This case series presents detailed postoperative physiotherapeutic rehabilitation and functional outcomes of 3 patients following tendon transfer surgery for the correction of claw hand due to traumatic nerve injury. Three patients with different etiologies of claw hand and sociodemographic characteristics presented to the hand therapy center after claw correction surgery. Two patients underwent flexor digitorum superficialis 4-tail tendon transfer, and 1 patient underwent the Zancolli lasso procedure.

An Autopsy Study of Cerebrovascular Atherosclerosis in the Elderly.

Background: Stroke is an important cause of mortality with intracranial atherosclerosis as an important risk factor. Geographical variation in the pattern of atherosclerosis is well documented with various studies in stroke patients showing that African Americans and Japanese people tend to have intracranial vascular occlusion, whereas Caucasians more often have extracranial atherosclerotic lesions.

Methods: This is a prospective study of 50 cases of Indian elderly patients over 60 years of age where we have studied the CNS vasculature in detail including intracranial atherosclerosis with regards to its incidence, severity, distribution, plaque composition and associated risk factors.

Perception of educational environment as a predictor of academic performance in physiotherapy students.

Background: Students' perception of their academic environment has a substantial influence on their actions, academic accomplishments, satisfaction, goal attainment, and behavior. The study was carried out to evaluate the perception of academic environment in physiotherapy students, and to identify the specific domains which could act as predictors of academic performance.

The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic highlights the need to tackle viral variants, expand the number of antigens, and assess diverse delivery systems for vaccines against emerging viruses. In the present study, a DNA vaccine candidate was generated by combining in tandem envelope protein domain III (EDIII) of dengue virus serotypes 1-4 and a dengue virus (DENV)-2 non-structural protein 1 (NS1) protein-coding region. Each domain was designed as a serotype-specific consensus coding sequence derived from different genotypes based on the whole genome sequencing of clinical isolates in India and complemented with data from Africa.

World Health Organisation-Caregiver Skills Training (WHO-CST) Program: Feasibility of Delivery by Non-Specialist Providers in Real-world Urban Settings in India.

The World Health Organization-Caregiver Skills Training Program, a parent-mediated early intervention facilitated by non-specialist providers piloted in urban India was evaluated using mixed-methods for feasibility and effects on child and caregiver outcomes. Caregivers (n = 22) of children (2-9 years) with social-communication delays participated in a single-group pre-post study. High rates of caregiver attendance, improved caregiver fidelity, and facilitator competency suggested program feasibility.

Test anxiety and procrastination in physiotherapy students.

Background: Short-term academic procrastination may be accompanied by negative outcomes such as anxiety, stress, and depression. The current study aims to evaluate the two parameters of procrastination and test anxiety in physiotherapy students and explore whether a relationship exists between them.

Multilevel and Multifactorial Interventions to Reduce Alcohol Consumption and Improve ART Adherence and Related Factors Among HIV Positive Men in Mumbai, India.

Alcohol use has a deleterious effect on the health status of persons living with HIV, negatively affecting antiretroviral adherence and increasing the risk of transmission. Alcohol use is not an isolated behavior but intimately linked to stigma and poor psychological status among other factors. This paper utilizes a crossover design to test the efficacy of three multilevel interventions, individual counselling (IC), group intervention (GI) and collective advocacy (CA) for change, among HIV positive males who consume alcohol, treated at five ART Centers in urban Maharashtra, India.

A multinational observational study of clinical nutrition practice in patients undergoing major gastrointestinal surgery: The Nutrition Insights Day.

Background And Aims: Patients undergoing major gastrointestinal (GI) surgery, particularly those with malignancies, have a high risk for malnutrition, requiring perioperative nutritional support to reduce complications. During the Nutrition Insights Day (NID), nutritional data of this patient population were documented in seven Asian countries.

Methods: Observational, cross-sectional study with retrospective data collection of nutritional status, calorie/protein targets/intake, and type of clinical nutrition for up to 5 days before NID.
