Objectives: The osteogenic potential of periodontal ligament stem cells (PDLSCs) is crucial for periodontal tissue regeneration. Prolonged and excessive oxidative stress (OS) impairs the osteogenic function of PDLSCs. Recently, Semaphorin 3A (Sema3A) has been reported to have multiple roles in bone protection.

Background: Excessive daytime sleepiness (EDS) is considered to be one of the main clinical manifestations of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and is a treatment target for patients with OSA. The prevalence of EDS in patients with OSA remains unclear and there is a lack of studies on the associations of EDS with quality of life among patients with OSA in China. This study aimed to evaluate the prevalence of EDS and its association with quality of life in patients with OSA in Shenzhen, China.

Background: numerous epidemiological studies demonstrate the correlation between obesity and urolithiasis. Bariatric surgery is effective in significant weight loss, reducing mortality rates, and lowering the incidence of obesity-related comorbidities. However, it may be associated with long-term complications such as urolithiasis, with an estimated increase of 7.

Sonocatalytic therapy (SCT) has emerged as a promising noninvasive modality for tumor treatment but is hindered by the insufficient generation of ultrasound-induced reactive oxygen species (ROS) and the hypoxic tumor microenvironments. Herein, we fabricated a carbon nanoframe-confined N-coordinated manganese single-atom sonocatalyst with a five-coordinated structure (MnN SA/CNF) using a phthalocyanine-mediated pyrolysis strategy. The precise coordination structure was identified by synchrotron X-ray absorption fine structure analyses.

The accuracy of multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging (mpMRI) heavily relies on image quality, as evidenced by the evolution of the prostate imaging quality (PI-QUAL) scoring system for the evaluation of clinically significant prostate cancer (csPC). This study aims to evaluate the impact of PI-QUAL scores in detecting csPC within PI-RADS 4 and 5 lesions. We retrospectively selected from our database all mpMRI performed from January 2019 to March 2022.

Objectives: Planar cell polarity (PCP) signaling, essential for uniform alignment and directional beating of motile cilia, has been investigated in multiciliated epithelia. As a complex structure connecting the middle ear to the nasopharynx, the eustachian tube (ET) is important in the onset of ear-nose-throat diseases. However, PCP signaling, including the orientation that is important for ciliary motility and clearance function in the ET, has not been studied.

As one of the most common otologic diseases in the elderly, age-related hearing loss (ARHL) usually characterized by hearing loss and cognitive disorders, which have a significant impact on the elderly's physical and mental health and quality of life. However, as a typical disease of aging, it is unclear why aging causes widespread hearing impairment in the elderly. As molecular biological experiments have been conducted for research recently, ARHL is gradually established at various levels with the application and development of integrated multi-omics analysis in the studies of ARHL.

Introduction: To investigate the inhibitory effect of quercetin (QUE) on dendritic cells (DCs) through the toll-like receptor 4/interleukin-1 receptor-associated kinase 4/nuclear factor kappa-B (TLR4/IRAK4/NF-κB) signalling pathway.
Material And Methods: CCK-8 and apoptosis assays were performed to determine the optimal concentration and action time of QUE to inhibit DCs. Protein extracts from treated DCs were used for Western blotting experiments to determine the relative expression levels of TLR4, IRAK4, and NF-κB p65 proteins.

Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have shown great potential as important therapeutic tools for dental pulp tissue engineering, with the maintenance and enhancement of their stemness being crucial for successful therapeutic application and three-dimensional (3D) spheroid formation considered a reliable technique for enhancing their pluripotency. Human exfoliated deciduous tooth stem cells (SHED) were cultured in a low attachment plate to form aggregates for five days. Then, the resulting spheroids were analyzed for pluripotent marker expression, paracrine secretory function, proliferation, signaling pathways involved, and distribution of key proteins within the spheroids.

Periodontitis is a prevalent oral disease caused by chronic inflammation of the periodontal tissues surrounding the teeth, which can lead to bone loss, tooth loosening, and even tooth loss. This inflammation has a negative impact on the osteogenic differentiation capacity of periodontal tissue-derived cells. Non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) are a class of RNA molecules that do not encode proteins but can regulate various physiological processes.

Dendritic cells (DCs), central participants in the allergic immune response, can capture and present allergens leading to allergic inflammation in the immunopathogenesis of allergic rhinitis (AR). In addition to initiating antigen-specific immune responses, DCs induce tolerance and modulate immune homeostasis. As a special type of DCs, tolerogenic DCs (tolDCs) achieve immune tolerance mainly by suppressing effector T cell responses and inducing regulatory T cells (Tregs).

Age-related hearing loss (ARHL) is a prevalent condition affecting millions of individuals globally. This study investigated the role of the cell survival regulator Bcl2 in ARHL through in vitro and in vivo experiments and metabolomics analysis. The results showed that the lack of Bcl2 in the auditory cortex affects lipid metabolism, resulting in reduced synaptic function and neurodegeneration.

Objectives: Circular RNAs (circRNAs), with their multilevel and versatile regulation, have emerged as promising targets for treating complex and heterogeneous malignancies such as oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). It is crucial to explore the function of key circRNAs and elucidate the underlying mechanisms to establish an effective in vivo delivery system to better utilize circRNAs as cancer treatment strategies.
Materials And Methods: circRNA (circ-OCAC) was identified as significantly downregulated in tumor samples compared to paracancerous tissues by RNA-seq analysis of eight pairs of OSCC tissues.

Hypophosphatasia (HPP) is a rare genetic disorder mainly characterized by skeletal dysplasia that results from a deficiency in tissue-nonspecific alkaline phosphatase (TNSALP), which is encoded by the alkaline phosphatase () gene. Odontohypophosphatasia (odonto-HPP) is a mild form of HPP characterized by oral symptoms, such as premature loss of primary teeth. This study was to describe a 4-year-old boy with premature loss of primary teeth who was diagnosed with odonto-HPP.
