With stress echo (SE) 2020 study, a new standard of practice in stress imaging was developed and disseminated: the ABCDE protocol for functional testing within and beyond CAD. ABCDE protocol was the fruit of SE 2020, and is the seed of SE 2030, which is articulated in 12 projects: 1-SE in coronary artery disease (SECAD); 2-SE in diastolic heart failure (SEDIA); 3-SE in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (SEHCA); 4-SE post-chest radiotherapy and chemotherapy (SERA); 5-Artificial intelligence SE evaluation (AI-SEE); 6-Environmental stress echocardiography and air pollution (ESTER); 7-SE in repaired Tetralogy of Fallot (SETOF); 8-SE in post-COVID-19 (SECOV); 9: Recovery by stress echo of conventionally unfit donor good hearts (RESURGE); 10-SE for mitral ischemic regurgitation (SEMIR); 11-SE in valvular heart disease (SEVA); 12-SE for coronary vasospasm (SESPASM). The study aims to recruit in the next 5 years (2021-2025) ≥10,000 patients followed for ≥5 years (up to 2030) from ≥20 quality-controlled laboratories from ≥10 countries.

We present a boy with a congenital, ulcerated nodule on the scalp. At birth, the lesion was considered to be the result of a traumatic injury, but a biopsy at the age of 6 months pointed to a diagnosis of syringocystadenoma papilliferum. We draw attention to the difficulty of identifying head lesions in young children from clinical signs alone.

In a paper entitled Bundle-branch block with short P-R interval in healthy young people prone to paroxysmal tachycardia (Am Heart J 1930; 5: 685-704), Dr. Louis Wolff (1898-1972), Sir John Parkinson (1885-1976) and Paul Dudley White (1886-1973) described an intricate syndrome. Prior case reports had already pointed out the essentials of this entity, which has borne the eponym (WPW syndrome) since the publication by Levine and Beeson (Am Heart J 1941; 22: 401-409).

The author reviews the history of atrial fibrillation, the most common sustained cardiac arrhythmia. The chaotic irregularity of arterial pulse was clearly acknowledged by most of physicians of the ancient China, Egypt and Greece. William Harvey (1578-1657), who first described the circulatory system appropriately, was probably the first to describe fibrillation of the auricles in animals in 1628.

The authors review the history of atrial fibrillation, the most frequent clinically observed cardiac arrhythmia. A French "clinicopathologist", Jean Baptist de Sénac (1693-1770), was the first who assumed a correlation between "rebellious palpitation" and a stenosis of the mitral valve. From an analysis of simultaneously recorded arterial and venous pressure curves, the Scottish Sir James Mackenzie (1853-1925) demonstrated that a presystolic a wave cannot be seen on the jugular phlebogram during "pulsus irregularis perpetuus".

Local variations of prostaglandin (PG) I2 and F2 alpha were studied in the pancreatic tissue during the first hour of an acute experimental necrohemorrhagic pancreatitis. The local pancreatitis was induced by trypsin injection into the interstitium of the splenic part of rat pancreas, and a saline injection was given into the interstitium in the duodenal part of the same pancreas as control. PGF2 alpha level was measured by specific radioimmunoassay (RIA), and the stable degradation product of PGI2, the 6-keto-PGF1 alpha, was determined also by RIA as an index of PGI2 level.

A total of 87 refertilization operations in the distal tubal segment are reported. Tubal obstructions developed following inflammations of the pelvis. Hysterosalpingography and laparoscopy were used to learn about the patients' anatomy and these served as bases for assessing the changes of pregnancy following recanalization.

The descending part of the fetal aorta was examined in a total of 101 healthy pregnant women on 146 occasions between the 28th and 41st weeks of pregnancy. A Kranzbühler 8130 Duplex Doppler apparatus was used throughout. It was found that the blood flow compared to the estimated fetal weight was near to the same value (180-200 ml/min/kg) during the third trimester.

The authors have examined the effect of locally (intra-artcrially) given insulin and glucagon on the absorption and portal transport of glucose from the isolated jejunal loop of the dog. The insulin rcduccd significantly the rate of portal glucose transport, while the quantity of glucosc absorbed remained unchanged. Under the influence of glucagon the blood flow through the isolated intestinal loop and the rate of the portal glucose transport both increased.
