Introduction And Hypothesis: There is a complex relationship between obesity and pelvic organ prolapse. The objective of our study was to evaluate whether body mass index (BMI) changes the relationship between signs and symptoms of prolapse.
Methods: This was a retrospective observational study based on datasets of women seen in a tertiary urogynecological center with symptoms of pelvic floor and lower urinary tract dysfunction between April 2012 and October 2015.

Objectives: Pouch of Douglas (POD) obliteration is a severe consequence of inflammation in the pelvis, often seen in patients with endometriosis. The sliding sign is a dynamic transvaginal ultrasound (TVS) test that can diagnose POD obliteration. We aimed to develop a deep learning (DL) model to automatically classify the state of the POD using recorded videos depicting the sliding sign test.

Background: Obsessive-compulsive disorder is a highly debilitating psychiatric disorder with a high rate of treatment resistance. Biomarkers for obsessive-compulsive disorder may assist clinicians by predicting response to treatments and prognosis.
Objective: The aim of the study was to review the literature with regards to two of the more easily ascertainable and relatively inexpensive physiological biomarkers, i.

Objective: To compare the preoperative detection of endometriosis using transvaginal sonography (TVS) supplemented by transabdominal sonography (TAS) with surgical assessment of disease, using the #Enzian classification for endometriosis.
Methods: This was a prospective multicenter diagnostic accuracy study of women undergoing TVS/TAS and radical surgery for deep endometriosis (DE) at different tertiary referral centers. The localization and grade of severity of the endometriotic lesions and adhesions were described according to the criteria of the #Enzian classification, both at preoperative ultrasound examination and during surgery.

Introduction: Episiotomy has been purported to protect the anal sphincter from injury; efficacy is, however, disputed. Correct execution of episiotomy may have substantial implications. We aimed to describe the characteristics of episiotomy scars on translabial ultrasound (TLUS).

Study Question: Is there an ideal imaging modality for the detection of uterosacral ligaments/torus uterinus (USL), rectovaginal septum (RVS) and vaginal deep endometriosis (DE) in women with a clinical history of endometriosis?
Summary Answer: The sensitivity for the detection of USL, RVS and vaginal DE using MRI seems to be better than transvaginal ultrasonography (TVS), whilst the specificity of both were excellent.
What Is Known Already: The surgical management of women with DE can be complex and requires advanced laparoscopic skills with maximal cytoreduction being vital at the first procedure to provide the greatest symptomatic benefit. Owing to a correlation of TVS findings with surgical findings, preoperative imaging has been used to adequately consent women and plan the appropriate surgery.

Background: Circulating osteoprogenitor (COP) cells are a surrogate of the bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells with high levels observed in osteoporosis and the initial stages of fracture healing. Conversely, a low percentage of COP cells (%COP) is strongly associated with frailty and disability. However, it is unknown whether %COP is associated with sarcopenia, a musculoskeletal disease closely related to frailty.

Such overlap suggests the value of transdiagnostic assessment pathways that contribute to knowledge about research and clinical needs of these children and their families. Despite this, large transdiagnostic data collection networks for neurodevelopmental disorders are not well developed.

Background: Randomised controlled trials (RCTs) evaluating ectopic pregnancy have reported many different outcomes, which are themselves often defined and measured in distinct ways. This level of variation results in an inability to compare results of individual RCTs. The development of a core outcome set to ensure outcomes important to key stakeholders are collected consistently will guide future research in ectopic pregnancy.

Global longitudinal strain (GLS) is a robust and sensitive marker of left-ventricular systolic function, reflecting longitudinal shortening of the ventricle. A growing body of evidence indicates its superiority in identifying subclinical, early alterations in cardiac function compared to traditional markers, such as ejection fraction. Therefore, there is a growing demand to assess GLS in clinical settings, but limited availability on how to obtain GLS accurately and appropriately in the current literature.

Background: There are no current standardized and accepted methods to characterize the surgical complexity of a laparoscopic hysterectomy. This leads to challenges when trying to understand the relationship between the patient and the surgical features and outcomes. The development of core feature sets for laparoscopic hysterectomy studies would enable future trials to measure the similar meaningful variables that can contribute to surgical complexity and outcomes.

The "Earthrise" photograph, taken on the 1968 Apollo 8 mission, became one of the most significant images of the 20th Century. It triggered a profound shift in environmental awareness and the potential for human unity-inspiring the first Earth Day in 1970. Taking inspiration from these events 50 years later, we initiated at our 2020 annual conference of VIVO Planetary Health.

Afterload is an important determinant of left ventricular (LV) and atrial (LA) function, including myocardial strain. Central blood pressure (CBP) is the major component of cardiac afterload and independently associated with cardiovascular risk. However, the optimal means of calibrating CBP is unclear-standard CBP assessment uses systolic (SBP) and diastolic blood pressure (DBP) from brachial waveforms, but calibration with mean pressure (MAP) and DBP purports to be more accurate.

Introduction: People with a family history of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (F-CLL) have an increased risk of monoclonal B lymphocytosis (F-MBL), which is found in up to 18% of first-degree relatives of patients compared to 5% of the total population. This may indicate that the presence of an F-MBL in the relative of a F-CLL patient is due to genetic susceptibility. In this study, we hypothesized that progressive changes in gene expression result in malignant transformation of B lymphocytes to F-MBL, and subsequent alterations in gene expression occur before overt F-CLL develops.

Long-term exposure to air pollutants, especially particulates, in adulthood is related to cardiovascular diseases and vascular markers of atherosclerosis. However, whether vascular changes in children is related to exposure to air pollutants remains unknown. This study examined whether childhood exposure to air pollutants was related to a marker of cardiovascular risk, carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT) in children aged 11-12 years old.

Objective: Age at menarche and the interval between menarche and age at first vaginal birth have been shown to be associated with reproductive performance; however, their association with maternal birth trauma has not been studied. We aimed to determine whether age at menarche, age at first vaginal birth and their interval are associated independently with levator ani muscle (LAM) avulsion and external anal sphincter (EAS) defect.
Methods: This was a retrospective analysis of the ultrasound volume datasets of 466 vaginally parous patients attending one of two tertiary urogynecological units in Australia.

Picolinic acid (PIC) is a byproduct of tryptophan catabolism through the kynurenine pathway, with anabolic effects on bone in vivo and in vitro. Hence, PIC has been nominated as a possible candidate to treat and/or prevent osteoporosis. However, the effective dose and toxicity of PIC are not known yet.

Background: Informed consent in obstetrics should involve full disclosure of risks, benefits and alternative interventions. However, we have found no evidence of a formal informed consent process before an attempt at vaginal delivery in published policy or practice. The idea of informed consent in vaginal birth has attracted controversy and has been the subject of some debate.

Allogeneic haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) is a curative therapy for blood cancers and other haematological disorders. However, allo-HSCT leads to graft-versus-host disease (GVHD), a severe and often lethal immunological response, in the majority of transplant recipients. Current therapies for GVHD are limited and often reduce the effectiveness of allo-HSCT.
