Aims And Objectives: The aim of this study was to investigate how a lifestyle intervention programme influences psychiatric and psychosocial factors among persons with psychiatric disabilities.
Background: Persons with psychiatric disabilities often suffer from a simultaneous physical health problem, where circulatory disorder, hyperlipideamia, digestive disease, diabetes mellitus and obesity are prevalent. Studies have also shown a relationship between physical activity and mental health.

The present study is part of a larger project investigating occupational engagement and health in a group of people with schizophrenia. This study was aimed at extending this knowledge base with regard to occupational engagement and sociodemographic factors. Seventy-four outpatients participated in the study.

This article describes the life circumstances of persons with a psychiatric disability living in one urban and six rural areas in a single region in Sweden. Furthermore, the life circumstances of persons with a psychiatric disability are discussed in relation to the aims of social policies in Sweden. Data were collected by means of a survey study exploring the formal support provided by local authorities to its citizens and the informal support given by family members and volunteers.

The aim of this study was to review randomised controlled trials on integrated and coordinated interventions targeting frail elderly people living in the community, their outcome measurements and their effects on the client, the caregiver and healthcare utilisation. A literature search of PubMed, AgeLine, Cinahl and AMED was carried out with the following inclusion criteria: original article; integrated intervention including case management or equivalent coordinated organisation; frail elderly people living in the community; randomised controlled trials; in the English language, and published in refereed journals between 1997 and July 2007. The final review included nine articles, each describing one original integrated intervention study.

Background: Knowledge about the daily life of older adults with psychiatric disabilities is extremely limited, especially from the standpoint of the individual. The overall aim of this study was to describe and analyze the ways in which older adults with a psychiatric disability experience places, social relations and activities in different arenas of their everyday lives.
Method: Twelve older adults (>55 years) with a psychiatric disability were interviewed either once or twice, using different interview techniques.

Background And Aims: Developing care for older people in the last phase of life requires knowledge about the type and extent of care and factors associated with the place of death. The aim of this study was to examine age, living conditions, dependency, care and service among old people during their last year of life, but also their place of death and factors predicting it.
Methods: The sample (n=1198) was drawn from the care and services part of the Swedish National Study on Ageing and Care (SNAC).

Whether elderly people in the final period of life have a high quality of life (QOL) and what factors relate QOL in this context, is not well known. The aim of this study was to examine the final period in life in elderly people (75 years or older) in need of help with instrumental activities of daily living (ADL), with the focus on quality of life, sense of coherence (SOC), health complaints and self-reported diseases. Providing high-quality end-of-life care to older people is a requirement especially for countries with a high proportion of old and very old people. This calls for an understanding of older people's view of death and dying, and one way forward is to investigate the current knowledge base.
