However, the potential mechanism is not well understood, and the observational evidence is scarce, particularly in children.

Objective: To assess the potential association between the use of montelukast and the risk of neuropsychiatric adverse events in children and adolescents.

Objective: To compare kidney outcomes between initiation of empagliflozin vs dapagliflozin in adults with type 2 diabetes who were receiving antihyperglycemic treatment.

Design, Setting, And Participants: This target trial emulation used nationwide, population-based routinely collected Danish health care data to compare initiation of empagliflozin vs dapagliflozin in adults with type 2 diabetes who received antihyperglycemic treatment between June 1, 2014, and October 31, 2020.

Effect of Pediatric Obesity Treatment on Long-Term Health.

Importance: Data regarding the long-term impact of treating childhood obesity on the risk of obesity-related events, including premature mortality, are limited.

Objective: To evaluate the long-term effect of different responses to pediatric obesity treatment on critical health outcomes in young adulthood.

Design, Setting, And Participants: The study included a dynamic prospective cohort of children and adolescents with obesity within The Swedish Childhood Obesity Treatment Register (BORIS) and general population comparators, linked with national registers.

Aortic regurgitation in ankylosing spondylitis-an echocardiography follow-up study.

Objectives: To investigate the long-term course of aortic regurgitation (AR) and the width of the proximal ascending aorta (PAA) in patients with ankylosing spondylitis (AS).

Method: This is a follow-up cohort study of patients with AS examined with echocardiography at inclusion (2009 to 2011). Out of the initial 187, a subgroup of 52 patients (54% men, mean age 62 years) was selected for follow-up based on presence/absence of AR at baseline; 26 with AR (18 mild, 7 moderate, 1 severe) and 26 age/sex-matched without AR.

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is associated with the acceleration of lung aging, and the accumulation of senescent cells in lung tissue. MicroRNA (miR)-34a induces senescence by suppressing the anti-aging molecule, sirtuin-1 (SIRT1). Senescent cells spread senescence to neighbouring and distant cells, favouring COPD progression and its comorbidities.

Germ cell quantification in human fetal and prepubertal testis tissues - a comparison of current methodologies.

Methods to quantify germ cell number in human immature testicular tissues are essential to evaluate the impact of chemotherapy exposures and for optimising cryopreservation protocols used in fertility preservation for prepubertal boys. Established quantification methods rely on the presence of round tubules within the tissue. However, round tubular cross sections are limited in human prepubertal testicular tissues, especially when using in vitro culture.

Heterogeneous copper-catalyzed Grignard reactions with allylic substrates.

Herein, we present a highly efficient allylic substitution of carbonates with Grignard reagents using a reusable cellulose-supported nanocopper catalyst. This approach highlights the first instance of heterogeneous catalysis for the cross-coupling of allylic alcohol substrates with Grignard reagents. The method features high yields, excellent regioselectivity, and complete chirality transfer.

To compare the efficacy and safety of lanadelumab versus other approved long-term prophylaxis (LTP) treatments in patients with pediatric hereditary angioedema (HAE) aged <12 years. A systematic literature review was conducted to identify studies of LTP in patients with HAE aged <12 years. Two studies met the inclusion criteria in an indirect treatment comparison of efficacy and safety data in pediatric HAE patients.

Self-Efficacy in Hypertension Management Using e-Health Technology: A Randomized Controlled Trial in Primary Care.

Self-efficacy is tightly intertwined with person-centered care and correlates with engaging in self-care behaviors, an important part of hypertension treatment. Evidence indicates that e-Health-based self-management interventions could increase self-efficacy. The objectives of this study were to investigate whether an intervention with a person-centered approach supported by e-Health technology can impact self-efficacy.

Introducing the Adsorption Energy Distribution Calculation for Two-Component Competitive Adsorption Isotherm Data.

This work introduces the Adsorption Energy Distribution (AED) calculation using competitive adsorption isotherm data, enabling investigation of the simultaneous AED of two components for the first time. The AED provides crucial insights by visualizing competitive adsorption processes, offering an alternative adsorption isotherm model without prior assuming adsorption heterogeneity, and assisting in model selection for more accurate retention mechanistic modeling. The competitive AED enhances our understanding of multicomponent interactions on stationary phases, which is crucial for understanding how analytes compete on the stationary phase surface and for selecting adsorption models for numerical optimization of preparative chromatography.

Background: Brain-gut behaviour therapies (BGBT) have gained widespread acceptance as therapeutic modalities for the management of disorders of gut-brain interaction (DGBI). However, existing treatment evaluation methods in the medical field fail to capture the specific elements of scientific rigour unique to behavioural trial evaluation.

Aims: To offer the first consensus on the development and testing of BGBT in DGBI.

However, there is little knowledge of sensory processing and its relation to these factors. Hence, this current study aims to investigate sensory processing patterns in relation to coping and occupational engagement for the target group.

Objectives: To investigate the association of sleep-disordered breathing (SDB) severity with cardiometabolic and inflammatory markers independently of the adiposity levels; and to explore the role of cardiorespiratory fitness in these associations in children with overweight/obesity.

Methods: A total of 109 children aged 8-11 years with overweight/obesity were included in this cross-sectional study. SDB was assessed using a scale of the reduce version of the Paediatric Sleep Questionnaire.

A systematic review of current national hospital-based stroke registries monitoring access to evidence-based care and patient outcomes.

Background: National stroke clinical quality registries/audits support improvements in stroke care. In a 2016 systematic review, 28 registries were identified. Since 2016 there have been important advances in stroke care, including the development of thrombectomy services.

Registered Nurses' Experience of Person-Centred Care Through Digital Aids in Primary Care Setting During the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Aim: The aim of this study was to describe registered nurses' experience of person-centred care through digital media during the COVID-19 pandemic. The first wave of COVID-19 took healthcare services worldwide by surprise and affected all levels of care. Registered nurses within primary care settings had to adjust to new meeting forums with patients and in collaborations with other organisations to transfer patients from hospital to home care in a safe and secure manner using digital aids.

Pharmacokinetic characterization and exposure-response relationship of crovalimab in the COMMODORE 1, 2 and 3 and COMPOSER trials of patients with paroxysmal nocturnal haemoglobinuria.

Aims: Crovalimab is a novel C5 inhibitor administered first intravenously and then subcutaneously in patients with paroxysmal nocturnal haemoglobinuria (PNH) naive to complement inhibition or switching from eculizumab or ravulizumab. Crovalimab showed efficacy and safety comparable to eculizumab in the pivotal COMMODORE 2 and supporting studies.

Methods: We characterized crovalimab pharmacokinetics and the relationship between exposure pharmacokinetic parameters and pharmacodynamic biomarkers, efficacy and safety endpoints using pooled data (healthy volunteers [n = 9], naive [n = 210] and switched [n = 211] patients).

Determining the harvest location of timber is crucial to enforcing international regulations designed to protect natural resources and to tackle illegal logging and associated trade in forest products. Stable isotope ratio analysis (SIRA) can be used to verify claims of timber harvest location by matching levels of naturally occurring stable isotopes within wood tissue to location-specific ratios predicted from reference data ("isoscapes"). However, overly simple models for predicting isoscapes have so far limited the confidence in derived predictions of timber provenance.
