Purpose: The goal of the study described in this protocol is to build a multimodal artificial intelligence (AI) model to predict abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) shrinkage 1 year after endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR).

Methods: In this retrospective observational multicenter study, approximately 1000 patients will be enrolled from hospital records of 5 experienced vascular centers. Solid-state nanopores offer unique possibilities for biomolecule sensing; however, scalable production of sub-5 nm pores with precise diameter control remains a manufacturing challenge. In this work, we developed a scalable method to fabricate sub-5 nm nanopores in silicon (Si) nanomembranes through metal-assisted chemical etching (MACE) using gold nanoparticles. Notably, we present a previously unreported self-limiting effect that enables sub-5 nm nanopore formation from both 10 and 40 nm nanoparticles in the 12 nm thick monocrystalline device layer of a silicon-on-insulator substrate.

Background: Binding of ANGPTL (angiopoietin-like protein)-3 to ANGPTL8 generates a protein complex (ANGPTL3/8) that strongly inhibits LPL (lipoprotein lipase) activity, as compared with ANGPTL3 alone, suggesting that ANGPTL3/8 concentrations are critical for the regulation of circulation lipoprotein concentrations and subsequent increased coronary heart disease (CHD) risk. To test this hypothesis in humans, we evaluated the associations of circulating free ANGPTL3 and ANGPTL3/8 complex concentrations with lipoprotein concentrations and CHD risk in 2 prospective cohort studies.

Methods: Fasting blood samples were obtained in conjunction with the baseline evaluation of 9479 subjects from 2 population-based Swedish cohorts of middle-aged men and women.

DOPA Decarboxylase (DDC) has been proposed as a cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) biomarker with increased concentrations in Lewy body disorders (LBDs) and highest levels in patients receiving dopaminergic treatment. Here we evaluate plasma DDC, measured by proximity extension assay, and the effect of dopaminergic treatment in three independent LBD (with a focus on dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB) and Parkinson's disease (PD)) cohorts: an autopsy-confirmed cohort (n = 71), a large multicenter, cross-dementia cohort (n = 1498) and a longitudinal cohort with detailed treatment information (n = 66, median follow-up time[IQR] = 4[4, 4] years). Plasma DDC was not altered between different LBDs and other disease groups or controls in absence of treatment.

Under sustained global warming, Arctic climate is projected to become more responsive to changes in North Pacific meridional heat transport as a result of teleconnections between low and high latitudes, but the underlying mechanisms remain poorly understood. Here, we reconstruct subarctic humidity changes over the past 400 kyr to investigate the role of low-to-high latitude interactions in regulating Arctic hydroclimate. Our reconstruction is based on precipitation-driven sediment input variations in the Subarctic North Pacific (SANP), which reveal a strong precessional cycle in subarctic humidity under the relatively low eccentricity variations that dominated the past four glacial-interglacial cycles.
