Purpose: There is limited research on individuals undergoing self-initiated health examinations, and the Werlabs cohort will be a base for such research.

Participants: All individuals aged 18 or older who had undertaken a self-initiated health examination at Werlabs AB with at least one recorded value of creatinine or cholesterol in Sweden (from 1 January 2015 through 31 December 2023) was included. Medical history and anthropometric measurements were self-reported through an online questionnaire.

How many stroke survivors develop problematic spasticity requiring pharmacological therapy? An international (Europe and USA) observational study protocol.

Introduction: Current care plans for stroke survivors typically focus on acute management, resulting in many stroke survivors being discharged to their communities without adequate follow-up, despite their often experiencing significant post-stroke complications, such as post-stroke spasticity (PSS). While studies have explored the incidence and prevalence of PSS, little is known about how early PSS develops and how many stroke survivors develop 'problematic' PSS that would benefit from pharmacological treatment.

Methods And Analysis: EPITOME is a prospective, international, observational, epidemiological study of participants (aged 18-90 years) who develop paresis within days 3-14 of a first-ever stroke that occurred within the past 4 weeks.

Cohort profile: Swedish families of the 1990s (SWIFT90).

Purpose: The Swedish Families of the 1990s (SWIFT90) is a population-based national register cohort that follows everyone born between 1990 and 1999, their parents and siblings. The cohort was set up primarily to investigate factors associated with biological parents' involvement with child welfare services and their outcomes following child(ren) placement in out-of-home care (OHC) under the research project 'Drivers of inequalities of families involved in child welfare services (DRIVERS)'.

Participants: This cohort is defined as families consisting of parents and their children, of which at least one was born between 1990 and 1999 in Sweden, which totals 1 075 037 children.

Objectives: To search the literature systematically in order to map and identify gaps in research investigating patient and family member psychoeducation needs regarding post-stroke cognition.

Design: Scoping review conducted in line with Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) recommendations and PRISMA-ScR checklist.

Methods: MEDLINE, PsycINFO, Embase, CINAHL and Scopus were searched on 25 August 2023 for peer-reviewed studies conducted in a high-income country, describing cognition-related psychoeducation needs in stroke survivors and/or family members aged ≥18 years (≥50% of the study population).

BackgroundToscana virus (TOSV) is transmitted to humans through bites of infected sand flies. Neuroinvasive TOSV infections are leading causes of meningitis/encephalitis in southern Europe and notifiable in Italy since 2016. In 2022-23, Italy experienced extreme climate anomalies and a concomitant increase in mosquito and tick-borne disease transmission.

Aim/objectives: The aim of this study was to increase the understanding of experiences, attitudes, and conditions of usage of research and implementation of EBP among RHCPs in a Swedish municipality setting. Further, the study aimed to explore whether those attitudes and conditions were associated with RHCP basing their work on research.

Proteomic Profiling Reveals Alterations in Metabolic and Cellular Pathways in Severe Obesity and Following Metabolic Bariatric Surgery.

In this study, we investigated the impact of bariatric surgery on the adipose proteome to better understand the metabolic and cellular mechanisms underlying weight loss following the procedure. A total of 46 patients with severe obesity were included, with samples collected both before and after bariatric surgery. Additionally, 15 healthy, non-obese individuals who did not undergo surgery served as controls and were studied once.

Tactile edges and motion via patterned microstimulation of the human somatosensory cortex.

Intracortical microstimulation (ICMS) of somatosensory cortex evokes tactile sensations whose properties can be systematically manipulated by varying stimulation parameters. However, ICMS currently provides an imperfect sense of touch, limiting manual dexterity and tactile experience. Leveraging our understanding of how tactile features are encoded in the primary somatosensory cortex (S1), we sought to inform individuals with paralysis about local geometry and apparent motion of objects on their skin.

Isolation and characterization of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) present a noninvasive alternative to monitor disease progression in individual patients. However, the heterogeneous lineage specificity of CTCs makes it difficult to isolate and identify possible CTCs by a liquid biopsy. Better label-free methods for the isolation of viable CTCs are needed.

Herein, we report the synthesis of two-dimensional TaSeC (2D-TaSeC) nanosheets using electrochemical lithiation in multilayer TaSeC followed by sonication in deionized water. Multilayer TaSeC was obtained via solid-state synthesis of FeTaSeC followed by chemical etching of Fe. 2D-TaSeC exhibited promising electrocatalytic activity for the hydrogen evolution reaction from water compared to multilayer TaSeC and 2D-TaSe.

PEDOT/Polypyrrole Core-Sheath Fibers for Use as Conducting Polymer Artificial Muscles.

Electropolymerized polypyrrole (PPy) is considered as one of the promising polymers for use in ionic-electroactive or conducting polymer (CP) actuators. Its electromechanical properties surpass those of other prominent CPs such as poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) polystyrene sulfonate (PEDOT/PSS) or polyaniline. However, freestanding and linear contracting actuator fibers made solely of electropolymerized PPy are not available yet.

ECG Patterns of Occlusion Myocardial Infarction: A Narrative Review.

The traditional management of acute coronary syndrome has relied on the identification of ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) as a proxy of acute coronary occlusion. This conflation of STEMI with acute coronary occlusion has historically overshadowed non-ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI), despite evidence suggesting 25% to 34% of NSTEMI cases may also include acute coronary occlusion. Current limitations in the STEMI/NSTEMI binary framework underscore the need for a revised approach to chest pain and acute coronary syndrome management.

To look for common factors that affect vascular formation upon stress, we searched for Arabidopsis thaliana genes differentially expressed upon Agrobacterium infection, nematode infection and plant grafting. One such gene was cell wall related and highly induced by all three stresses and was named ENHANCED XYLEM AND GRAFTING1 (EXG1) since mutations in it promoted ectopic xylem formation in Vascular cell Induction culture System Using Arabidopsis Leaves (VISUAL) and enhanced graft formation.
