While prior research has predominantly explored the link between thyrotoxicosis and NOAF, the presence of subclinical hypothyroidism among patients presenting with acute NOAF in the emergency department (ED) remains an underexplored area of inquiry. This study aimed to assess the prevalence of undiagnosed thyrotoxicosis and subclinical hypothyroidism in patients with acute NOAF diagnosed in the ED.

This study examined the characteristics, experiences, motivations, and preferences of healthy volunteers participating in Phase I clinical trials in Sweden. A descriptive, cross-sectional survey was conducted among 135 healthy volunteers who had participated in at least one Phase I clinical trial from 2021 to 2024. Volunteers considered trial personnel, financial compensation, and regulatory review and approval as highly important factors in their decision to participate.

Oxidation of thia-pentapyrrane S-P4 with terminal β-linked pyrrole and thiophene units in the presence of various metal ions has been found to afford distinct porphyrinoids. Specifically, N-confused thiasapphyrin (1), Cu(III) norrole (2), neo-confused phlorin (3), and p-benzinorrole (4) were obtained, when S-P4 was oxidized with p-chloranil in acetonitrile in the presence of Ni2+, Cu2+, Cd2+, and Co2+, respectively.
