Mutational analysis in drug resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis in Western Uttar Pradesh.

Background: Multi-drug resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) results in treatment failure and poor clinical outcomes. This study was carried out with the aim to determine the pattern of drug resistance against Mycobacterium tuberculosis towards first line ATT (anti-tubercular treatment) in sputum smear-positive patients using Line Probe Assay (LPA).

Methods: A cross sectional prospective study was carried out in a tertiary care Hospital of Meerut.

Background: Evaluation of axillary lymph nodes status in cN0 axilla is performed by sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) utilizing a combination of radioactive isotope and blue dye or alternative to isotope like Indocyanine green (ICG). Both are very resource-intensive; which has prompted development of low-cost technique of Fluorescein Sodium (FS)-guided SLNB. This systematic review and meta-analysis evaluate the diagnostic performance of FS-guided SLNB in early breast cancer.

Applications of supramolecular assemblies in drug delivery and photodynamic therapy.

One of the world's serious health challenges is cancer. Anti-cancer agents delivered to normal cells and tissues pose several problems and challenges. In this connection, photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a minimally invasive therapeutic technique used for selectively destroying malignant cells while sparing the normal tissues.

Cytomorphological pattern analysis of tubercular lymphandenopathies.

Background: The spectrum of morphological pattern in tubercular lymphandenopathies was observed to study the various cytomorphological patterns and their correlation with acid fast bacilli.

Methods: FNAC smears of 210 cases of granulomatous lymphadenitis stained with Giemsa, Pap and haematoxylin and eosin were used to analyze cytomorphological pattern and Zeihl Neelsen stained smears for acid fast bacilli (AFB) detection.

Results: 193 cases with necrotising granulomatous inflammation or positive acid fast bacilli were included.
