Solitary colorectal metastasis of prostate cancer is very rare, but the pathological features can closely resemble a primary colorectal cancer with poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma. Thus, metastasis of prostate cancer should be considered as a differential diagnosis in male patients with colorectal lesion with poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma.

Background: Golimumab (GLM) has been reported to have lower immunogenicity than do other TNF inhibitors used for treating rheumatoid arthritis (RA). We previously found a prolonged effect of and improvement similar to that associated with infliximab (IFX) after switching to subcutaneous GLM (GLM-SC) for control of RA activity or adverse events. Thus, this study aimed to evaluate the continued maintenance of treatment efficacy and safety for > 2 years by switching to GLM-SC in RA patients with low disease activity or in remission after previous treatment with another tumor necrosis factor (TNF) inhibitor.

Primary rectal squamous cell carcinoma is an extremely rare tumor and, in most cases, detected at an advanced stage. In our case, the tumor was at an early stage and had a submucosal appearance. Thus, the tumor was difficult to differentiate from other rectal submucosal tumors and, it was removed by endoscopic submucosal dissection for excisional biopsy.

Suzuki).

Purpose: To construct a classification model of rupture status and to clarify the importance of morphologic variables and hemodynamic parameters on rupture status by applying a machine learning (ML) algorithm to morphologic and hemodynamic data of cerebral aneurysms.

Materials And Methods: Between 2011 and 2019, 226 (112 ruptured and 114 unruptured) cerebral aneurysms in 188 consecutive patients were retrospectively analyzed with computational fluid dynamics (CFD). A random forest ML algorithm was applied to the results to create three classification models consisting of only morphologic variables (model 1), only hemodynamic parameters (model 2), and both morphologic variables and hemodynamic parameters (model 3).

Article Synopsis
  • This study explored the benefits of removing colorectal polyps immediately during the insertion phase of a colonoscopy, instead of waiting until the withdrawal phase.
  • A randomized trial involved 220 patients with small left-sided polyps, comparing instant polypectomy to the traditional method, and found that the instant removal reduced overall procedure time significantly.
  • Results showed that instant removal not only shortened the procedure but also prevented any missed polyps, suggesting it as a more efficient approach without negative impacts on the examination.

Improved Neural Processing Efficiency in a Chronic Aphasia Patient Following Melodic Intonation Therapy: A Neuropsychological and Functional MRI Study.

Front Neurol

September 2016

Department of Dementia Prevention and Therapeutics, Graduate School of Medicine, Mie University, Mie, Japan; Department of Neurology, Graduate School of Medicine, Mie University, Mie, Japan.

Melodic intonation therapy (MIT) is a treatment program for the rehabilitation of aphasic patients with speech production disorders. We report a case of severe chronic non-fluent aphasia unresponsive to several years of conventional therapy that showed a marked improvement following intensive 9-day training on the Japanese version of MIT (MIT-J). The purpose of this study was to verify the efficacy of MIT-J by functional assessment and examine associated changes in neural processing by functional magnetic resonance imaging.

Introduction: Alectinib and crizotinib have been approved for the therapy of NSCLC caused by anaplastic lymphoma kinase gene (ALK) rearrangement. The effect of alectinib or crizotinib on overall survival (OS) in patients with ALK-rearranged NSCLC remains unknown.

Methods: A multicenter retrospective study was conducted to compare OS between patients receiving alectinib and crizotinib and between patients treated with alectinib and those treated sequentially with crizotinib and then alectinib after crizotinib failure.

Radiofrequency ablation for ground-glass opacity-dominant lung adenocarcinoma.

J Vasc Interv Radiol

March 2014

Department of Radiology, Mie University School of Medicine, 2-174 Edobashi, Tsu, Mie 514-8507, Japan. Electronic address:

Purpose: To evaluate retrospectively the clinical utility of lung radiofrequency (RF) ablation for the treatment of ground-glass opacity (GGO)-dominant lung adenocarcinoma.

Materials And Methods: From August 2004 through May 2012, 33 consecutive patients (14 men and 19 women; mean age, 71.1 y; age range, 46-84 y) with 42 lung tumors having ≥ 50% GGO component received lung RF ablation.

Objective: We investigated the safety and efficacy of administering influenza vaccines to patients with systemic-onset juvenile idiopathic arthritis (sJIA) treated with tocilizumab.

Patients And Methods: The subjects were 27 sJIA patients treated with tocilizumab and 17 healthy age- and sex-matched volunteers. Serum samples were collected prior to and 4-7 weeks after vaccination.

A 61-year-old man and a 59-year-old woman were referred to our hospital because of lower abdominal pain and discomfort, pollakisuria and a lower abdominal mass. In both patients, radiological studies and cystoscopy caused us to suspect a urachal abscess. We performed operations transperitoneally.

A 71-year-old man was referred to our hospital complaining of urinary retention. He noticed a small mass on his buttocks about one year ago. Computed tomographic (CT) scan and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed a large mass of 10 cm in diameter located in the retrovesical space.
