Objective: To investigate the mechanism of the protective effect of modified Pulsatilla decoction (, MPD) on the mechanical barrier of the ulcerative colitis (UC) intestinal epithelium and .
Methods: We established an intestinal epithelial crypt cell line-6 cell barrier injury model by using lipopolysaccharide (LPS). The model was then treated with p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase-myosin light chain kinase (p38MAPK-MLCK) pathway inhibitors, p38MAPK-MLCK pathway silencing genes (si-p38MAPK, si-NF-κB, and si-MLCK), and MPD respectively.

Objective: There is limited data on the pathogenic microorganisms associated with anorectal abscesses. The purpose of this study was to retrospectively analyze the types and quantities of pathogenic microorganisms in the pus cultures of patients with anorectal abscesses and to explore the correlation between pathogenic microorganisms and types of anorectal abscesses.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on the microbiological data of 517 inpatient surgical patients with anorectal abscesses treated at a single center from January 2017 to December 2021.

Objective: This study explores the mechanism of action of Danhongqing formula (DHQ), a compound-based Chinese medicine formula, in the treatment of cholestatic liver fibrosis.
Methods: In vivo experiments were conducted using 8-week-old multidrug resistance protein 2 knockout (Mdr2) mice as an animal model of cholestatic liver fibrosis. DHQ was administered orally for 8 weeks, and its impact on cholestatic liver fibrosis was evaluated by assessing liver function, liver histopathology, and the expression of liver fibrosis-related proteins.

Background: Efferocytosis suppresses antitumour immune responses by inducing the release and secretion of cytokines. Long non-coding ribonucleic acids (lncRNAs) have various functions in different forms of programmed cell death and in immune regulation. This study aims to explore the potential role of efferocytosis-related lncRNAs as biomarkers in pancreatic adenocarcinoma (PAAD).

Background: Although a common disease, astriction is difficult to treat and severely affects quality of life. Wenyang Yiqi Decoction (WYD) is a kind of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) that is used to treat astriction; however, the mechanism remains unclear. Therefore, this work assessed the laxative effect of WYD on loperamide-induced astriction (LIA) model mice.

Tumor angiogenesis, which may be affected by microenvironmental inflammation and promotes tumor development and metastasis, is one of the key reasons contributing to increased mortality. The goal of this study is to investigate how lignin analogs, specifically honokiol (HNK), block angiogenesis induced by the inflammatory milieu of lung cancer. The human lung cancer cell lines A549 and H460 were treated with HNK.

Prostate cancer (PCa) is one of the most fatal diseases in male patients with high bone metastatic potential. Bone metastasis severely shortens overall survival and brings skeletal-related events (SREs) which reduces the life quality of patients, and this situation is currently regarded as irreversible and incurable. The progression and metastasis of PCa are found to be closely associated with inflammatory cytokines and chemokines.

Osteosarcoma (OS) is a highly metastatic bone cancer that usually affects children. Rhizoma Paridis saponins (RPS) have been identified to show a broad-spectrum anti-tumor activity. Our previous study has identified vasculogenic mimicry (VM) as an indicator of poor prognosis for OS.

Vasculogenic mimicry (VM) refers to a novel mode of tumor microcirculation, which provides an escape route for tumor metastasis, and thereby correlates with a poor prognosis. We previously reported MIG-7 plays a pivotal role in osteosarcoma (OS) VM. However, the precise mechanism of MIG-7 in regulating OS VM remains to be elucidated.

Background: Stimulator of IFN genes (STING) is highly expressed in the livers of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) patients and high fat diet (HFD) induced NAFLD mice model. The STING signaling-mediated inflammation has been shown to play a critical role in metabolic disorders. Lingguizhugan decoction (LGZG), a Traditional Chinese herbal decoction, has been applied to treat metabolic disorders for many years.
