Metasurface with natural static structure limits the development of dynamic metasurface holographic display with rapid response and broadband. Currently, liquid crystal (LC) was integrated onto the metasurface to convert the passive metasuface into an active one. But, majority of LC-assisted active metasurfaces often exhibit trade-offs among degree of freedom (DoF, typically less than 2), information capacity, response speed, and crosstalk.

Chlorine dioxide (ClO) is a promising alternative disinfectant/oxidant to free chlorine in drinking water treatment, while it reacts with natural organic matter (NOM) to form free chlorine, chlorite ions (ClO), and chlorate ions (ClO) as byproducts. Predicting the ClO consumption and the formation of these byproducts using a kinetic model helps to balance the trade-off between disinfection/oxidation efficiency and byproduct formation. This study establishes a summative equation to describe the reaction between ClO and ClO-reactive moieties in the NOM (CRNOM).

Halloysite was successfully grafted with silane APTES using both wet and dry modification methods. Among them, wet modification using aqueous solution possessed the highest modification efficiency and grafting ratio. Morphological observations demonstrated that APTES grafting on halloysite improved both the filler dispersion and interfacial compatibility in polymer composites.

In this work, we demonstrate the visualization of the complex magnetic fields by utilizing the magneto-photonic effect of FeO@SiO nanorod suspension with one-to-one correspondence between the visible colors and magnetic field directions. The selected anisotropic nanorods possess appropriate saturated magnetization and high electrostatic repulsion, which is magnetically direction-responsive but strength-insensitive, accurately detecting the field direction while eliminating the influence from intensity. The combined experiment-simulation study validates the accuracy of the simulation, allowing us to further determine the intensity distribution of the magnetic field.

The "carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals" has put forward new requirements for China's agricultural carbon emission reduction. It is easy to ignore the carbon emission transfer caused by agricultural trade if the reduction responsibility of carbon emission is merely defined from the supply side. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct in-depth research on agricultural carbon transfer for reasonably dividing the responsibility of agricultural carbon reduction in different provinces.

The advancement of soft bioelectronics hinges critically on the electromechanical properties of hydrogels. Despite ongoing research into diverse material and structural strategies to enhance these properties, producing hydrogels that are simultaneously tough, resilient, and highly conductive for long-term, dynamic physiological monitoring remains a formidable challenge. Here, a strategy utilizing scalable layered heterogeneous hydrogel fibers (LHHFs) is introduced that enables synergistic electromechanical modulation of hydrogels.

The low grade of biogas and the difficulty of treating biogas slurry are the two major bottlenecks limiting the sustainable development of the fermentation engineering. This study investigates the potential role of microalgae-microbial symbiosis and phytohormones in solving this challenge. Chlorella microalgae were combined with endophytic bacteria (S395-2) and Clonostachys fungus to construct symbiotic systems.

Resistant bacteria have always been of research interest worldwide. In the urban water system, the increased disinfectant usage gives more chances for undesirable disinfection-resistant bacteria. As the strongest oxidative disinfectant in large-scale water treatment, ozone might select ozone-resistant bacteria (ORB), which, however, have rarely been reported and are inexplicit for their resistant mechanisms and physiological characteristics.

Electron beam (EB) and extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography are advanced techniques capable of achieving sub-10 nm resolutions, critical for fabricating next-generation nanostructures and semiconductor devices. However, developing EUV photoresists that meet all demands for resolution, line edge roughness (LER), and sensitivity (RLS) remains a significant challenge. Herein, we introduce high-performance photoresists based on single-component self-immolative polymers (SIPs) with inherent signal amplification via cascade degradation.

China's high-quality development cannot be achieved without high-quality research. As the university is an indispensable source of advanced research, analyzing the impact of university-industry collaboration (UIC) on firm performance helps us understand the significance of universities for China's economic development and innovation activities. As existing research does not pay attention to the impact of UIC on the productivity of Chinese firms, we examine the impact of such collaboration on firm productivity using natural language processing and by matching China's intellectual property and listed firms' operations databases.

A three-dimensional (3D) numerical model was developed to explore the intricate aerodynamic mechanisms associated with aerosol jet printing (AJP). The proposed approach integrates computational fluid dynamics and discrete phase modeling, offering a comprehensive understanding of the deposition mechanisms of the AJP process. Initially, numerical solutions of the governing equations were obtained under the assumptions of compressible and laminar flows, facilitating an analysis of certain key flow variables, in this case, the sheath gas flow rate and carrier gas flow rate across the fluid domain.

The approach of shortcuts to adiabaticity enables the effective execution of adiabatic dynamics in quantum information processing with enhanced speed. Owing to the inherent trade-off between dynamical speed and the cost associated with the transitionless driving field, executing arbitrarily fast operations becomes impractical. To understand the accurate interplay between speed and energetic cost in this process, we propose theoretically and verify experimentally a new trade-off, which is characterized by a tightly optimized bound within s-parametrized phase spaces.

The accumulation of amyloid-β (Aβ) peptides is a major hallmark of Alzheimer's disease (AD) and plays a crucial role in its pathogenesis. Particularly, the structured oligomeric species rich in β-sheet formations were implicated in neuronal organelle damage. Addressing this formidable challenge requires identifying candidates capable of inhibiting peptide aggregation or disaggregating preformed oligomers for effective antiaggregation-based AD therapy.
