Agricultural Engineering Department, Faculty of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Aswan University, Aswan, Egypt.

Introduction: Precise semantic segmentation of microbial alterations is paramount for their evaluation and treatment. This study focuses on harnessing the SegFormer segmentation model for precise semantic segmentation of strawberry diseases, aiming to improve disease detection accuracy under natural acquisition conditions.

Methods: Three distinct Mix Transformer encoders - MiT-B0, MiT-B3, and MiT-B5 - were thoroughly analyzed to enhance disease detection, targeting diseases such as Angular leaf spot, Anthracnose rot, Blossom blight, Gray mold, Leaf spot, Powdery mildew on fruit, and Powdery mildew on leaves.

Osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) is a group of inherited disorders of connective tissue that cause significant deformities and fragility in bones. Most cases of OI are associated with pathogenic variants in collagen type I genes and are characterized by pronounced polymorphisms in clinical manifestations and the absence of clear phenotype-genotype correlation. The objective of this study was to conduct a comprehensive molecular-genetic and clinical analysis to verify the diagnosis of OI in six Russian patients with genetic variants in the and genes.

Silver nanoparticles were synthesized inside the small plates of transparent polymer medium by reduction of silver cations. The difference in morphology and sizes of nanoparticles synthesized by chemical, photochemical and thermal reduction was revealed, which depends both on the component ratio of the mixture and on the reduction time for the specific component ratio The polymethacrylate matrix itself acts as the stabilizing agent. A colorimetric sensor based on polymethacrylate matrix and silver nanoparticles was developed for the detection of hydrogen peroxide.

Article Synopsis
  • - Male infertility, particularly linked to poor semen quality, is found in roughly 50% of infertile couples, with specific CFTR gene variants being common causes of azoospermia.
  • - This study analyzed the allele frequency of 12 CFTR variants in fertile and infertile men across different regions of Russia, using data from a CF patient registry and local biocollections.
  • - Findings revealed significant regional differences in CFTR variant frequencies, confirming that certain variants like F508del and CFTRdele2,3(21kb) are more prevalent in infertile patients compared to healthy individuals, highlighting the need for genetic monitoring in Russian populations.

The study aims at revealing the mechanisms of the viscous medium effects on the kinetic features of NAD(P)H:FMN-oxidoreductase from luminous bacteria (Red), which are exhibited in a single enzyme assay and in coupling with bacterial luciferase (BLuc). Different concentrations of glycerol and sucrose were used to vary the medium viscosity. The activity of Red, alone and in the presence of BLuc, was analyzed, as well as BLuc activity in the presence of Red, whereas in the absence of BLuc, the Red activity was suppressed in viscous medium, and in the presence of BLuc, the increase in Red activity was observed at low glycerol concentrations (5-20 wt%).

Among the numerous described cases of hybridization in mammals, the most intriguing are (a) cases of introgressive hybridization deeply affecting the evolutionary history of species, and (b) models involving not a pair of species but a multi-species complex. Therefore, the hybridization history of the russet ground squirrel , whose range has repeatedly changed due to climatic fluctuations and now borders the ranges of four related species, is of great interest. The main aims of this study were to determine the direction and intensity of gene introgression, the spatial depth of the infiltration of extraneous genes into the range, and to refine the hypothesis of the hybridogenic replacement of mitochondrial genomes in the studied group.

Oxylipins are signal lipid molecules formed from polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) in several multienzymatic metabolic pathways, such as cyclooxygenase (COX), lipoxygenase (LOX), epoxygenase (CYP), and anandamide pathways, as well as non-enzymatically. The pathways of PUFA transformation are activated in parallel, yielding a mixture of physiologically active substances. Although the association of oxylipins with carcinogenesis had been established a long time ago, only recently analytical methods have advanced to a degree allowing detection and quantification of oxylipins from different classes (oxylipin profiles).

The association of insufficient sleep with reduced self-perceived health was previously well established. Moreover, it was sometimes shown that the indicators of poorer health were significantly related to chronotype and weekday-weekend gaps in sleep timing and duration. It remains to be elucidated, however, whether chronotype and these gaps can contribute to the reduced health self-ratings independently from shortened sleep duration or, alternatively, their relationship with health can be simply explained by their association with insufficient sleep on weekdays.

TiNi alloys are very widely used materials in implant fabrication. When applied in rib replacement, they are required to be manufactured as combined porous-monolithic structures, ideally with a thin, porous part well-adhered to its monolithic substrate. Additionally, good biocompatibility, high corrosion resistance and mechanical durability are also highly demanded.

Saliva is one of the most significant biological liquids for the development of a simple, rapid, and non-invasive biosensor for training load diagnostics. There is an opinion that enzymatic bioassays are more relevant in terms of biology. The present paper is aimed at investigating the effects of saliva samples, upon altering the lactate content, on the activity of a multi-enzyme, namely lactate dehydrogenase + NAD(P)H:FMN-oxidoreductase + luciferase (LDH + Red + Luc).

Autoantibodies against type 1 interferons (IFN-I) are a highly specific marker for type 1 autoimmune polyglandular syndrome (APS-1). Moreover, determination of antibodies to omega-interferon (IFN-ω) and alpha2-interferon (IFN-α2) allows a short-term diagnosis in patients with isolated and atypical forms of APS-1. In this study, a comparison of three different methods, namely multiplex microarray-based, cell-based and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays for detection of antibodies against omega-interferon and alpha2-interferon, was carried out.

The electrochemical features of the interactions of sulfur- and iron-containing compounds (ferrous sulfate, elemental sulfur, pyrite tailings, cysteine, sodium thiosulfate) with a model acidophilic consortium, including the genera , , , , and , were studied. The method of cyclic voltammetry recorded redox processes at the electrode/solution interface in the presence of the studied sulfur- and iron-containing compounds. In general, the modeling consortium led to the intensification of these processes.

SSC/IUCN-Mollusc Specialist Group, Species Survival Commission, International Union for Conservation of Nature, Cambridge, CB2 3QZ, UK.

The family Glossiphoniidae is a diverse and widespread clade of freshwater leeches, playing a significant role in functioning of aquatic ecosystems. The taxonomy and biogeography of leeches from temperate, subtropical, and tropical regions attracted much attention of zoologists, while their taxonomic richness and distribution in the Arctic are poorly understood. Here, we present an overview of the Eurasian Arctic Glossiphoniidae based on the most comprehensive occurrence and DNA sequence datasets sampled to date.

Surgutneftegas, Public Joint Stock Company, Surgut, Russia.

This article presents an estimation of the self-purification capacity of rivers flowing through an area of the Ob River basin at Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug-Yugra, which has been significantly transformed by the oil and gas industry. The research was done on the rivers of the Ob River basin in oil fields in 2003-2006 and 2018-2019. The coefficient of mineralization of organic matter has been used as a criterion of the rivers' water self-purification levels.

Hirudinea, a small and ecologically important group of aquatic organisms, is poorly studied in northern Eurasia. In this study, we demyth the idea of the faunistic poverty of this region and present the first findings of rheophilic leeches from the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area, Russia. Investigation of 25 rivers (Severnaya Sosva, Ob, Konda-Irtysh, and Bolshoi Yugan river basins) resulted in finding 10 leech species with parasitic and non-parasitic life strategies.
