Background: Gastric cancer (GC) is a common malignancy of the digestive system, with significant geographical variation in its disease burden.
Methods: This study used data from the Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries, and Risk Factors Study 2021 to analyze three key indicators: incidence, mortality, and disability-adjusted life years (DALYs). Initially, a detailed analysis of the GC burden was conducted from global, regional, national, gender, and age perspectives.

Immunotherapy with checkpoint inhibitors produced significant clinical responses in a subset of cancer patients who were resistant to prior therapies. However, Castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC) is seriously lack of T cell infiltration, which greatly limits the clinical application of immunotherapy, but the mechanism is unclear. In the present study, in silico analyses and experimental data show that HnRNP L was significantly negatively correlated with CD4+ and CD8+ T cells infiltration in patients; besides, we found deficiency of HnRNP L recruites CD4+ and CD8+ T cells infiltration and impairs tumorigenesis.

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the association between maternal factors and first-trimester biophysical and biochemical markers with small for gestational age (SGA) neonates in twin pregnancies (TwPs).
Methods: Single-center retrospective cohort study of TwPs followed from January 2010 to December 2022 at a tertiary perinatal center, Portugal. Maternal and pregnancy characteristics, mean arterial pressure, pregnancy-associated plasma protein-A (PAPP-A), β-human chorionic gonadotropin (β-HCG), and uterine artery pulsatility index (UtA-PI) were analyzed.

Background: The cancer cell marker poliovirus receptor-like protein 4 (PVRL4) has been shown to be highly expressed in many cancers, including lung cancer. Myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) are a population of immature myeloid cells with immunosuppressive roles that can attenuate the anticancer response. Here, the precise functions and the relationship between PVRL4 and MDSCs in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) progression were investigated.

Up to half of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cases are diagnosed at an advanced stage, for which effective treatment options are lacking, resulting in a poor prognosis. Over the past few years, the combination of immune checkpoint inhibitors and anti-angiogenic targeted therapy has proven highly efficacious in treating advanced HCC, significantly extending patients' survival and providing a potential for sequential curative surgery. After sequential curative hepatectomy or liver transplantation following conversion therapy, patients can receive long-term survival benefits.

Background: Previous research on the lower gastrointestinal tract has proved that microbial dysbiosis can lead to intestinal barrier dysfunction and enhanced visceral sensitivity, thus triggering bowel symptoms. Whether esophageal microbial dysbiosis also contributes to the development of gastroesophageal reflux (GER) symptoms, which are known to be associated with impaired esophageal barrier integrity, remains to be explored.
Methods: Patients with GER symptoms (gastroesophageal reflux disease [GERD] and functional esophageal disorders [FED]), duodenal ulcer patients and healthy controls were prospectively included for esophageal microbial analysis.

Objective: To propose a European consensus for managing and treating laryngopharyngeal reflux disease (LPRD) to guide primary care and specialist physicians.
Methods: Twenty-three European experts (otolaryngologists, gastroenterologists, surgeons) participated in a modified Delphi process to revise 38 statements about the definition, clinical management, and treatment of LPRD. Three voting rounds were conducted on a 5-point scale and a consensus was defined a priori as agreement by 80% of the experts.

Monochorionic twin pregnancies are a subset of twin pregnancies that face potential complications related to a shared circulation between the fetuses. These complications are related to anastomotic placental vessels connecting the cardiovascular systems of the two fetuses, which can result in significant sequela if one twin experiences intrauterine death. The sudden cardiovascular collapse in this scenario leads to a massive blood shift away from the healthy co-twin, significantly jeopardizing its life and long-term neurodevelopmental outcome.

Polymicrogyria (PMG) is the most common malformation of cortical development (MCD) and presents as an irregularly patterned cortical surface with numerous small gyri and shallow sulci leading to various neurological deficits including developmental delays, intellectual disability, epilepsy, and language and motor issues. The presentation of PMG varies and is often found in conjunction with other congenital anomalies. Histologically, PMG features an abnormal cortical structure and dyslamination, resulting in its classification as a defect of neuronal migration and organization.

Introduction: Detection of mutations in primary tumors and liquid biopsy samples is of increasing importance for treatment decisions and therapy resistance in many types of cancer. The aim of the present study was to directly compare the efficacy of a relatively inexpensive ultrasensitive real-time PCR with the well-established and highly sensitive technology of ddPCR for the detection of the three most common hotspot mutations of , in exons 9 and 20, that are all of clinical importance in various types of cancer.
Patients And Methods: We analyzed 42 gDNAs from primary tumors (FFPEs), 29 plasma-cfDNA samples, and 29 paired CTC-derived gDNAs, all from patients with ER+ metastatic breast cancer, and plasma from 10 healthy donors.

Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is an aggressive molecular subtype of breast cancer characterized by a high recurrence rate, poor prognosis, and elevated mortality. Identifying novel molecular targets is crucial for developing more effective therapeutic strategies against TNBC. Recent studies have highlighted the role of circular RNAs (circRNAs) in the progression of TNBC.

Background: Acute liver injury is a common pathological feature of various clinical diseases, and prolonged liver damage can lead to fibrosis and even liver failure. Studies have reported that the vagus nerve can repair liver injury through the regulation of the cholinergic anti-inflammatory pathway. However, there is limited research on the regulation of interleukin-22 and its role in liver injury.

Background: Despite complete resection, recurrence rate of biliary duct cancer (BTC) remains high, leading to poor prognosis. Postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy (ACT) following radical resection may substantially reduce the recurrence risk by eradicating micrometastatic lesions. However, the benefits of postoperative ACT and the optimal ACT strategy are still unclear for BTC.
