Core Outcome Set for Clinical Trials on Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COS-COVID).

Since its outbreak in December 2019, a series of clinical trials on coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) have been registered or carried out. However, the significant heterogeneity and less critical outcomes of such trials may be leading to a waste of research resources. This study aimed to develop a core outcome set (COS) for clinical trials on COVID-19 in order to tackle the outcome issues.

Guiding role of seminal tract anatomical study in transurethral seminal vesiculoscopy.

Introduction: There have been problems with low qualification operator-related complications and failures of transurethral seminal vesiculoscopy (TSV) in China.

Aim: To study the guiding role of seminal tract anatomical study (STAS) in TSV.

Material And Methods: We performed STAS to study the structure, morphology, duct trajectory, and anatomical relationships between the seminal vesicles and the adjacent tissue in pelvic specimens from 12 adult cadavers.

Background: Dendritic cell-associated C-type lectin-1 (Dectin-1) receptor has been reported to be involved in neuroinflammation in Alzheimer's disease and traumatic brain injury. The present study was designed to investigate the role of Dectin-1 and its downstream target spleen tyrosine kinase (Syk) in early brain injury after ischemic stroke using a focal cortex ischemic stroke model.

Cholangiocarcinoma is a lethal neoplasm without approved targeted therapies. BET bromodomain inhibitors have shown promising effects in certain cancers including cholangiocarcinoma.

Relationship Between Early Oral Intake Post Pancreaticoduodenectomy and Chyle Leakage: A Retrospective Cohort Study.

Background: Early oral intake is strongly recommended according to the enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) guidelines because it can reduce complications and improve recovery. However, early oral intake has been indicated to be associated with chyle leakage (CL) after pancreatic surgery, which may lead to worsening of existing malnutrition and impeded recovery. This study investigated the relationship between early oral intake and CL and identified risk factors for CL to reduce its occurrence and promote recovery after pancreaticoduodenectomy.

miRNA-mRNA Associated With Survival in Endometrial Cancer.

Although various factors may contribute to its initiation and progression, the etiology and prognostic factors of endometrial carcinoma (EC) remains not fully understood. We sought to understand the role of changes in transcriptome during the progress of EC by exploring public datasets. The aberrant expression characteristics of EC based on RNA-Seq and miRNA-seq data from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) were analyzed.

Safety and Efficacy of Radiofrequency Ablation for Solitary Hepatocellular Carcinoma (3-5 cm): a Propensity Score Matching Cohort Study.

Background: We aim to investigate the safety and efficacy of radiofrequency ablation in the treatment of solitary hepatocellular carcinoma (3-5 cm) in comparison with surgical resection.

Methods: Included in this study were 388 patients with primary and solitary hepatocellular carcinoma, of whom 196 patients underwent surgical resection and the other 192 patients received radiofrequency ablation. Clinicopathological characteristics, prognosis, post-treatment complications, hospital stay, and financial expenditures between the two groups were compared retrospectively.

Aurora-A Induces Chemoresistance Through Activation of the AKT/mTOR Pathway in Endometrial Cancer.

Endometrial cancer (EC) is the most common gynecological tumor all over the world, and advanced/metastatic EC remains a malignancy with poor survival outcome due to highly resistant to conventional chemotherapeutic treatment. Here, we report that Aurora-A, a serine-threonine kinase, plays a vital role in chemoresistance of EC. Aurora-A is overexpressed in EC tissues, compared with normal endometrium and Aurora-A expression is associated with decreased overall survival.

Long non‑coding RNA NORAD promotes cell proliferation and glycolysis in non‑small cell lung cancer by acting as a sponge for miR‑136‑5p.

NORAD (non‑coding RNA activated by DNA damage) is a long non‑coding RNA (lncRNA) that is upregulated and promotes cell progression in various human types of cancer; however, its function in non‑small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) remains unclear. The present study investigated the regulatory function and underlying mechanisms of NORAD in NSCLC. NORAD and miR‑136‑5p expression were assessed by reverse transcription‑quantitative polymerase chain reaction, and proliferation and glycolysis‑associated markers were also assessed.

Metastasis-associated protein 1, modulated by miR-30c, promotes endometrial cancer progression through AKT/mTOR/4E-BP1 pathway.

Objective: Though metastasis-associated protein 1 (MTA1) is widely overexpressed in human cancers and is associated with advanced clinicopathological characteristics and survival in related diseases, the association between MTA1 and endometrial cancer (EC) is little known and needs to be studied.

Methods: Western blot and immunohistochemistry were used to analyze protein expression level of cells and tissues, while real-time PCR was used for RNA detection. Bioinformatics tool analysis revealed the relationship between MTA1 and clinicopathological characteristics and survival.

Objective: To explore the safety of the essential medicines recorded in China's list through the comparison of the list of essential medicines of China and the World Health Organization (WHO), as well as the analysis of the basic situation and characteristics of adverse drug reactions (ADRs) on the two essential medicines recorded in China's and WHO lists in order to provide a reference for the improvement of China's list.

Methods: A retrospective descriptive study was conducted, based on the database in Jiangsu Province ADR Monitoring Center from 2013 to 2015. A total of 266869 cases reports were collected within this period, comparing the differences between the two essential medicines recorded in China's and WHO lists, considering number of ADRs, type of report, and modes of administration.

Pyrroloquinoline quinone induces chondrosarcoma cell apoptosis by increasing intracellular reactive oxygen species.

Pyrroloquinoline quinone (PQQ) has been reported to contribute to cancer cell apoptosis and death; however, little is known of its underlying mechanisms. The present study was designed to investigate the role of PQQ in chondrosarcoma cell apoptosis and the underlying mechanism. A cell cytotoxicity assay was used to detect cell death; flow cytometry analysis was also performed to determine cell apoptosis and intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS).

Background: The novel water-soluble inclusion complex of Brucea javanica oil (BJO) by β-cyclodextrin polymers (CDP) was prepared by saturated aqueous method and characterized by SEM, FT-IR and 1H NMR. Compared with BJO, the aqueous solubility of BJO-CDP (77.76%) greatly enhanced due to the water-soluble CDP host.

Diabetes-induced cognitive deficit (DICD) is a prevalent disease with substantial morbidity and mortality and as a global health problem with serious economic burdens. Astaxanthin (AST) has a good prospect in production of nutritional, medical, and particularly functional health drug. The present study was aimed to study the effect of AST on DICD in diabetes mellitus (DM) rat through suppression of oxidative stress, nitric oxide synthase (NOS) pathway, inflammatory reaction and upregulation of PI3K/Akt.

Expression and clinical significance of vascular endothelial growth factor and fms-related tyrosine kinase 1 in colorectal cancer.

The aim of the present study was to investigate the prognostic value of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and its receptor, fms-related tyrosine kinase-1 (FLT-1), in patients with colorectal cancer. An immunohistochemical approach was used to detect the protein expression of VEGF and FLT-1 in 90 patients with colorectal cancer. The impact of VEGF and FLT-1 tumor cell expression, in addition to other factors, on overall survival (OS) was retrospectively assessed in 90 patients.

Occupational inhalational exposure and serum GM-CSF autoantibody in pulmonary alveolar proteinosis.

Objectives: Although the serum granulocyte-macrophage colony stimulating factor autoantibody (GMAb) levels have been recognised as a diagnostic marker in primary pulmonary alveolar proteinosis (PAP), their role in PAP with occupational inhalational exposure (PAPo) remains unclear.

Methods: Forty-five consecutive patients with PAP were enrolled. Each patient with PAP was assessed for baseline clinical characteristics, chest high-resolution CT (HRCT), serum GMAb and occupational exposure.

[Clinical characteristics of 32 cases of tsutsugamushi disease in Suqian Municipality].

Objective: To understand the clinical characteristics of tsutsugamushi disease in Suqian Municipality, Jiangsu Province so as to guide the diagnosis and treatment of this disease.

Methods: The clinical data of 32 patients diagnosed as tsutsugamushi disease in our hospital during the past 2 years were analyzed retrospectively.

Results: Tsutsugamushi disease occurred frequently between August and December.
