LncRNA Regulates Ovarian Carcinoma Development via the miR-150-5p/ Axis.

Front Biosci (Landmark Ed)

October 2023

Obstetric and Gynecological Department, The Second Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University, 210000 Nanjing, Jiangsu, China.

Background: Over the past few years, there have been many reports on the abnormal expression and functional relevance of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) in tumors. The role played by lncRNAs in epithelial ovarian carcinoma (EOC) remains poorly understood, however the goal of the present work was to study molecular mechanisms that underlie involvement of prostate androgen-regulated transcript 1 () lncRNA in EOC development.

Methods: A total of 25 tumor and 17 normal specimens were obtained from women undergoing surgery between 2015 and 2019 in the Second Affiliated Hospital, Nanjing Medical University.

Background: The neurotrophic factor Artemin (ARTN) is involved in tumor proliferation and metastasis. Nonetheless, ARTN's significance in cervical cancer (CC) has not been studied. In our study, we propose to investigate the biological function of ARTN in CC as well as its particular regulatory mechanism.

Background: High-flow nasal cannula oxygen therapy (HFNC) is recommended by some scholars as an optimized respiratory support method for blunt chest trauma (BCT) patients. The basis of this recommendation is limited, however, and the efficacy of HFNC or noninvasive ventilation (NIV) in BCT patients has not yet been rigorously explored. This study aims to determine if HFNC is non-inferior to NIV in reducing treatment failure in moderate to severe BCT patients with acute respiratory failure.

Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNA) are involved in cancer development, but the roles of most lncRNAs are undocumented. In this study, we identified lncRNAs that were abnormally expressed in bladder cancer. We found that lncRNACASC9 plays an important role in the progression of bladder cancer.

Background: Thulium laser (Tm:YAG) prostate surgery is a safe and effective procedure with low morbidity and comparable clinical outcomes to those of transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP). However, the sexual function outcomes (erectile and ejaculatory function) have been scarcely studied.

Aim: We aimed to assess the impact of Tm:YAG prostate surgery on sexual outcomes (erectile and ejaculatory function) and compare them with those patients undergoing TURP.

World J Clin Cases

October 2021

Department of Pediatric Pulmonology, The Children's Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine, National Clinical Research Center for Child Health, Hangzhou 310000, Zhejiang Province, China.

Background: Tracheal tumors are relatively rare in adults and uncommon in children. Tracheal neurilemmoma is a rare condition in adults that usually affects middle-aged people, but it can also occur in children. Because the clinical presentation is nonspecific and insidious, diagnosis is often delayed.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study focused on the cleaning practices of skin outside wounds in adult trauma patients, conducting a multicenter survey in 13 hospitals from September 1 to 30, 2020, involving 952 participants.
  • - Researchers used a self-designed questionnaire to gather information on patient demographics, injury details, and skin cleaning habits, analyzing the data for trends and factors influencing cleaning practices.
  • - Out of 949 valid responses, it was found that 48.6% were male and 51.4% were female, with most patients being under 60 years old, highlighting the need for better understanding of skin cleaning behaviors in trauma care.

Pulmonary alveolar proteinosis (PAP) is a rare disorder characterized by the accumulation of excessive surfactant lipids and proteins in alveolar macrophages and alveoli. Oral statin therapy is a novel treatment for PAP with hypercholesterolemia. However, this treatment has never been described in a patient without hypercholesterolemia.

Objective: To compare cesarean delivery (CD) rates in referral and non-referral hospitals in Maternal Safety Collaboration in Jiangsu province, China.

Methods: Sixteen participants (4 referral hospitals, 12 non-referral hospitals) from Drum Tower Hospital Collaboration for Maternal Safety reported CD rates in 2019 using ten-group classification system and maternal/neonatal morbidity and mortality.

Results: A total of 22,676 CDs were performed among 52,499 deliveries and the average CD rate was 43.

Background: High-quality evidence confirms that the clinical efficacy of peramivir in severe influenza patients with primary viral pneumonia is lacking. To optimize clinical medication, we evaluate the different efficacy between peramivir and oseltamivir in the treatment of severe influenza A with primary viral pneumonia.

Methods: A single-center, randomized, controlled trial was conducted during the Chinese influenza season from December 2018 to April 2019 in patients with severe influenza A with primary viral pneumonia.

Objective: To carry out the meta-analysis on the clinical safety of glycyrrhizic acid and the influencing factors between 18-glycyrrhizinate (18-GL) and 18-glycyrrhizinate (18-GL).

Methods: Magnesium isoglycyrrhizinate injection was used as the representative preparation of 18-GL, and compound glycyrrhizin injection was used as the representative preparation of 18-GL. The clinical control trial of magnesium isoglycyrrhizinate injection and compound glycyrrhizin injection was searched in a computer, which was published from January 2006 to December 2019 on the databases such as PubMed, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), China Science and Technology Journal Database (CSTJ), and Wanfang Medical Network (Wanfang Data).

Hypertrophic scars (HSs) are a type of pathological scar which are induced by surgery, burn injuries or trauma during the healing process. Due to the high recurrence rates and strong invasive properties, HSs have become a major clinical issue. Resveratrol has been identified as a potential agent to suppress scar formation; however, the underlying mechanism of action remains unclear.

Wilms' tumor 1 () is reported to play an important role in tumor invasion and metastasis, two hallmarks of ovarian cancer (OC) that influence treatment efficacy and prognosis. However, the specific roles and underlying mechanisms of in OC have not been fully understood. Here, we investigated the potential function and signaling pathways of in OC cells.
