Background: Over the past few years, there have been many reports on the abnormal expression and functional relevance of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) in tumors. The role played by lncRNAs in epithelial ovarian carcinoma (EOC) remains poorly understood, however the goal of the present work was to study molecular mechanisms that underlie involvement of prostate androgen-regulated transcript 1 () lncRNA in EOC development.

Methods: A total of 25 tumor and 17 normal specimens were obtained from women undergoing surgery between 2015 and 2019 in the Second Affiliated Hospital, Nanjing Medical University.

High-flow nasal cannula oxygen therapy versus noninvasive ventilation for patients with blunt chest trauma: protocol for a randomized controlled trial.

Background: High-flow nasal cannula oxygen therapy (HFNC) is recommended by some scholars as an optimized respiratory support method for blunt chest trauma (BCT) patients. The basis of this recommendation is limited, however, and the efficacy of HFNC or noninvasive ventilation (NIV) in BCT patients has not yet been rigorously explored. This study aims to determine if HFNC is non-inferior to NIV in reducing treatment failure in moderate to severe BCT patients with acute respiratory failure.

Background: Thulium laser (Tm:YAG) prostate surgery is a safe and effective procedure with low morbidity and comparable clinical outcomes to those of transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP). However, the sexual function outcomes (erectile and ejaculatory function) have been scarcely studied.

Aim: We aimed to assess the impact of Tm:YAG prostate surgery on sexual outcomes (erectile and ejaculatory function) and compare them with those patients undergoing TURP.

Methods: A total of 141 patients with HER2-positive breast cancer were enrolled from February 2019 to April 2020.

Long-term follow-up and successful treatment of pulmonary alveolar proteinosis without hypercholesterolemia with statin therapy: a case report.

Pulmonary alveolar proteinosis (PAP) is a rare disorder characterized by the accumulation of excessive surfactant lipids and proteins in alveolar macrophages and alveoli. Oral statin therapy is a novel treatment for PAP with hypercholesterolemia. However, this treatment has never been described in a patient without hypercholesterolemia.

Objective: To compare cesarean delivery (CD) rates in referral and non-referral hospitals in Maternal Safety Collaboration in Jiangsu province, China.

Methods: Sixteen participants (4 referral hospitals, 12 non-referral hospitals) from Drum Tower Hospital Collaboration for Maternal Safety reported CD rates in 2019 using ten-group classification system and maternal/neonatal morbidity and mortality.

Results: A total of 22,676 CDs were performed among 52,499 deliveries and the average CD rate was 43.

Ketorolac tromethamine pretreatment suppresses sufentanil-induced cough during general anesthesia induction: a prospective randomized controlled trial.

Methods: A total of 102 patients were screened, and 90 patients were scheduled for elective surgery under general anesthesia. The 90 patients were randomly divided into two groups: the control group (C group) and the observation group (KT group).

Methods: We consecutively and retrospectively reviewed 108 patients who underwent robot-assisted laparoscopic upper urinary tract reconstruction surgeries by a single surgeon from November 2018 to January 2020. The patient demographics, perioperative variables, postoperative complications and follow-up data were recorded.

Objective: To minimize twin birth rate by establishing an elective single cleavage embryo transfer strategy based on a twin live birth prediction model from fresh double cleavage embryos transfer (cleavage DET) patients.

Methods: A total of 2478 patients underwent fresh cleavage DET in Nanjing Tower Hospital were enrolled to establish the twin live birth prediction model by logistic regression analysis and the cutoff value was calculated by ROC curve. Another 300 fresh cleavage DET patients and 550 cleavage single-embryo transfer (SET) patients were selected to testify the sensitivity, specificity and usefulness of this model.

Paeonol inhibits proliferation and induces cell apoptosis of human T24 and 5637 bladder cancer cells in vitro and in vivo.

Purpose: Paeonol is a natural chemical medicine derived from the bark of peony root, which has been found to inhibit tumor activity in various tumor cell lines, and can play a synergistic anti-tumor effect with chemotherapy or radiotherapy.

Methods: We used paeonol to act on human bladder cancer T24 and 5637 cells, and established xenograft tumor in nude mice by subcutaneous injection of T24 cells.

Results: CCK-8 assay and plate cloning experiments showed that paeonol could inhibit the proliferation of T24 and 5637 cells in vitro.

Outcomes of Treatment for Elderly Patients With Trigeminal Neuralgia: Percutaneous Balloon Compression Versus Microvascular Decompression.

Objective: The study aimed to evaluate the surgical outcomes of percutaneous balloon compression (PBC) and microvascular decompression (MVD) in the treatment of elderly patients with trigeminal neuralgia (TN).

Methods: A total of 30 patients who underwent PBC surgery (PBC group) and 30 patients who received MVD surgery (MVD group) were included. The treatment efficacy, Barrow Neurological Institute (BNI) pain intensity score, inflammatory response, the rates of complication and recurrence were analyzed respectively.

Epidemiological and clinical features of asymptomatic patients with SARS-CoV-2 infection.

Few studies reported the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infected patients with completely asymptomatic throughout the disease course. We investigated the epidemiological and clinical features of patients infected by SARS-CoV-2 without any symptoms. Patients with confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection were retrospectively recruited.
