Objective: To examine risks of severe adverse patient outcomes shortly after a left-without-being-seen emergency department (LWBS ED) visit since 2020.

Methods: In this retrospective study using linked administrative data, we examined temporal trends in monthly rates of ED and LWBS visits for adults in Ontario, Canada, 2014‒2023. In patient-level analyses restricted to the first eligible LWBS ED visit, we used modified Poisson regression to compare the composite outcome of 7-day all-cause mortality or hospitalization following a LWBS ED visit for April 1, 2022‒March 31, 2023 (recent period) to April 1, 2014‒March 31, 2020 (baseline period), adjusted for age, sex, and Charlson comorbidity index.

A 56-year-old man presented following an aborted cardiac arrest. His initial ECGs showed episodes of transient repolarization abnormalities. Coronary vasospasm can be a precipitant for ventricular arrhythmia in these patients, underpinning the importance of continuous ECG for accurate diagnosis and management.

Notable treatment advances have been made in recent years for patients with myelodysplastic syndromes/neoplasms (MDS), and several new drugs are under development. For example, the emerging availability of oral MDS therapies holds the promise of improving patients' health-related quality of life (HRQoL). Within this rapidly evolving landscape, the inclusion of HRQoL and other patient-reported outcomes (PROs) is critical to inform the benefit/risk assessment of new therapies or to assess whether patients live longer and better, for what will likely remain a largely incurable disease.

Accompanied by an unparalleled nursing shortage, the COVID-19 pandemic has prompted a nationwide health human resource recruitment drive focused on internationally educated nurses (IENs). The Supervised Practice Experience Partnership (SPEP) is a provincial strategy that provides IENs the opportunity to attain their supervised practice experience in Ontario. In order to sustain the nursing workforce, there is a need to go beyond recruitment strategies and implement evidence-informed approaches that retain IENs after meeting their registration requirements.

Background Cerebral small vessel disease is associated with higher ratios of soluble-epoxide hydrolase derived linoleic acid diols (12,13-dihydroxyoctadecenoic acid [DiHOME] and 9,10-DiHOME) to their parent epoxides (12(13)-epoxyoctadecenoic acid [EpOME] and 9(10)-EpOME); however, the relationship has not yet been examined in stroke. A noticeable proportion of larger brain metastases (BMs) are not locally controlled after stereotactic radiotherapy, and it may take months before local progression is apparent on standard follow-up imaging. This work proposes and investigates new explainable deep-learning models to predict the radiotherapy outcome for BM. A novel self-attention-guided 3D residual network is introduced for predicting the outcome of local failure (LF) after radiotherapy using the baseline treatment-planning MRI.

Introduction: While the Dominantly Inherited Alzheimer Network Trials Unit (DIAN-TU) was ongoing, external data suggested higher doses were needed to achieve targeted effects; therefore, doses of gantenerumab were increased 5-fold, and solanezumab was increased 4-fold.
