Objectives: This study aimed to assess the impact of the reimbursement regulation of medical devices (Regulation), introduced by the National Health Insurance Administration (NHIA) in 2013, on patients' access to innovative medical devices in Taiwan.

Methods: Analysis of the amount of time needed from application for NHIA reimbursement for new medical devices to receiving the decision from NHIA was done using the nonreimbursement product list featured on the NHIA website. Additionally, Welch analysis of variance was used to compare the amount of time it took from application to NHIA with reimbursement decisions made by the NHIA for different nonreimbursement code categories.

In this article, the operational characteristics of coverage with evidence development (CED) programs in Asia-Pacific regions, focusing on two countries-Japan and South Korea-are reviewed. This paper proposes dual-functional sheets (DFSs) that simultaneously have high thermal conductivity (TC) and electromagnetic interference (EMI) absorbing properties, making them suitable for use in mobile electronics. The aim of this study was to test the clinical efficacy of TissueGene-C (TG-C), a cell and gene therapeutic for osteoarthritis consisting of non-transformed and transduced chondrocytes (3:1) retrovirally transduced to overexpress transforming growth factor-β1. A total of 163 Kellgren-Lawrence grade 3 patients with knee osteoarthritis were randomly assigned to receive intra-articular TG-C or placebo. Primary efficacy measures included criteria for subjective assessment by International Knee Documentation Committee (IKDC) and pain severity by Visual Analog Scale (VAS) for 52 weeks.

Clinical guidelines for interstitial cystitis and hypersensitive bladder have been updated as of 2015. The guidelines define interstitial cystitis by the presence of hypersensitive bladder symptoms (discomfort, pressure or pain in the bladder usually associated with urinary frequency and nocturia) and bladder pathology, after excluding other diseases explaining symptoms. Interstitial cystitis is further classified by bladder pathology; either Hunner type interstitial cystitis with Hunner lesions or non-Hunner type interstitial cystitis with mucosal bleeding after distension in the absence of Hunner lesions.

Myristoylated alanine-rich C kinase substrate-like 1 (MARCKSL1) plays a pivotal role in the regulation of apoptosis and has been shown to maintain antitumor and metastasis-suppressive properties. In the present study, we examined the effects of MARCKSL1 as a novel anti-angiogenic agent on the inhibition of angiogenesis-mediated cell migration. MARCKSL1 also reduced vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)-induced human umbilical vein endothelial cell (HUVEC) proliferation, as well as capillary-like tubular structure formation in vitro.
