Background: Periodontitis has become an increasingly important public health issue, coupled with a high economic burden for prevention and treatment. Exposure to essential trace heavy metals has been associated with various diseases; however, the relationships between essential trace heavy metals and periodontitis remain inconclusive.

Objectives: To investigate the association between essential trace heavy metals in tap water and periodontitis in a nationally representative sample in China.

BMC Oral Health

June 2023

Department of Preventive Dentistry, National Engineering Laboratory for Digital and Material Technology of Stomatology, Beijing Key Laboratory of Digital Stomatology, Peking University School and Hospital of Stomatology, Beijing, P.R. of China.

Objective: This cross-sectional study aimed to investigate socioeconomic inequalities in dental caries among adults (35 years and older) in China and explore the contributions of various factors to these inequalities.

Methods: This study included 10,983 adults (3,674 aged 35-44 years, 3,769 aged 55-64 years and 3,540 aged 65-74 years) who participated in the 4th National Oral Health Survey (2015-2016) in China. Dental caries status was evaluated by the decayed, missing and filled teeth (DMFT) index.

Community Dent Oral Epidemiol

December 2021

Department of Preventive Dentistry, National Engineering Laboratory for Digital and Material Technology of Stomatology, Beijing Key Laboratory of Digital Stomatology, National Clinical Research Center for Oral Diseases, Peking University School and Hospital of Stomatology, Beijing, China.

Objectives: This study aimed to investigate socioeconomic-related inequality in dental care service utilization in the past 12 months among Chinese preschool children and to explore the contribution of various factors to this inequality.

Method: A total of 40 305 children aged 3-5 years from 372 kindergartens who participated in the Fourth National Oral Health Survey in China were included in the final analysis. The method of data weighting in complex sampling was adopted to make the samples more representative.

Measuring and decomposing socioeconomic-related inequality in the use of oral health services among Chinese adults.

Community Dent Oral Epidemiol

February 2021

Department of Preventive Dentistry, National Engineering Laboratory for Digital and Material Technology of Stomatology, Beijing Key Laboratory of Digital Stomatology, Peking University School and Hospital of Stomatology, Beijing, China.

Objectives: This study aimed to measure socioeconomic-related inequality and horizontal inequity in the use of oral health services and decompose this inequality among adults of different age groups in China.

Methods: In total, 10 973 adults (3669 aged 35-44 years, 3767 aged 55-64 years and 3537 aged 65-74 years) who participated in the 4th National Oral Health Survey (2015-2016) in China were included. Concentration curves and the Erreygers-corrected concentration index (EI) were employed to measure socioeconomic-related inequality in the use of oral health services.

Short multi-armed polylysine-graft-polyamidoamine copolymer as efficient gene vectors.

Int J Pharm

November 2011

The First Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yetsen University, 58 2nd Zhongshan Road, Guangzhou 510080, PR China.

Polyamidoamine-polylysine graft copolymers (PAMAM-g-PLL) were prepared by ring-opening polymerization of benzyloxycarbonyl lysine N-carboxyanhydride (Lys(Z)-NCA) initiated with primary amine of generation 4 polyamidoamine (PAMAM G4) and subsequent deprotection of polyamidoamine-poly-(benzyloxycarbonyl lysine) copolymer (PAMAM-PLL(Z)). The chemical structure and composition of the PAMAM-g-PLL with varying length of PLL arms were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy ((1)H NMR). Agarose gel electrophoresis test revealed that the PAMAM-g-PLL could completely combine DNA to form complexes.

[Clinical application of ultrasonographic indexes for assessment of amniotic fluid volume].

Zhonghua Fu Chan Ke Za Zhi

September 2001

Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, First Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yetsen University of Medical Sciences, Guangzhou 510080, China.

Objective: To find the favorable interval of assessment of amniotic fluid volume and the optimal standard for oligohydramnios.

Methods: To determine actual amniotic fluid volume (AAFV) by collecting amniotic fluid during cesarean section and compare it with maximum vertical pocket (MVP) and amniotic fluid index (AFI) in different interval between cesarean section and measurement and test the sensitivity and specificity of MVP and AFI of different standard.

Results: The ultrasonographic results were divided into three groups according to the interval between measurement and delivery: within 24 hours group, 24-96 hours group and longer than 96 over hours group.

The present study was designed to investigate a coral skeleton, Favites, which was originated from the reef builders in Hainan island, as a bone substitute. The coral Favites, like porites, is composed of anagonite (CaCO3), but contains less volume of porosity, higher strength and denser construction than Porites. After implanted into cortical bone defects in mandibles and femurs of dogs, skeleton fragment of coral Favites demonstrated good biocompatibility and biodegradability.
