Intracranial aneurysm is common in stroke and, once rupturing, will cause disaster to patients. Nowadays, endovascular treatment has become a routine to reduce the risk of intracranial aneurysms rupture. Successive endovascular methods, like balloon-assisted coiling, stent-assisted coiling, and flow diversion, have become new choices for doctors.

Background: Tacrolimus (TAC) is the preferred calcineurin inhibitor (CNI) for pediatric liver transplant recipients. However, some recipients may not achieve the desired therapeutic window concentration of TAC, leading to poor prognosis. This study aimed to develop a clinical model that can predict the effectiveness of TAC in pediatric liver transplant recipients and help clinicians quickly identify cyclosporin as an alternative.

Background: Liver transplantation is the main treatment for cholestatic liver disease and some metabolic liver diseases in children. However, no accurate prediction model to determine the survival probability of grafts prior to surgery exists. This study aimed to develop an effective prognostic model for allograft survival after pediatric liver transplantation.

This study test was designed to investigate the possible modulatory effect of rapamycin combined with HO-3867 in monocrotaline(MCT)-induced pulmonary arterial hypertension in rats. We hypothesized that combined treatment with rapamycin and HO-3867 is superior to either alone in attenuating MCT-induced rat pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). Pulmonary arterial hypertension was induced by a single intraperitoneal injection of monocrotaline (60 mg/kg).

Neuropathic pain (NP) is a common symptom in many diseases of the somatosensory nervous system, which severely affects the patient's quality of life. Epigenetics are heritable alterations in gene expression that do not cause permanent changes in the DNA sequence. Epigenetic modifications can affect gene expression and function and can also mediate crosstalk between genes and the environment.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) has a poor prognosis due to the rapid disease progression and early metastasis. The metabolism program determines the proliferation and metastasis of HCC; however, the metabolic approach to treat HCC remains uncovered. Here, by analyzing the liver cell single-cell sequencing data from HCC patients and healthy individuals, we found that 6-phosphogluconolactonase (PGLS), a cytosolic enzyme in the oxidative phase of the pentose phosphate pathway (PPP), expressing cells are associated with undifferentiated HCC subtypes.

Abnormal tracheal bronchus originates from the sidewall of the trachea, and most frequently occurs on the right side, involves subsegmental bronchi and the segmental. The anatomical structure of the airway is of great significance for general anesthesia and lung isolation. Abnormal tracheal bronchus makes lung isolation more complicated.

Methods: This prospective Phase 3 study was conducted at 17 centres in China and Korea (May 2014 to April 2015); 424 patients (20 to 80 years) with at least 1 untreated focal liver lesion (FLL) (< 10 cm in diameter) underwent a contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) examination (218 received Sonazoid of 0.12 μL microbubbles/kg; 206 received SonoVue of 2.

Objective: To investigate the safety and efficacy of intensive statin in the acute phase of ischemic stroke after intravenous thrombolysis therapy.
Methods: A total of 310 stroke patients treated with rt-PA were randomly scheduled into the intensive statin group (rosuvastatin 20 mg daily × 14 days) and the control group (rosuvastatin 5 mg daily × 14 days). The primary clinical endpoint was excellent functional outcome (mRS ≤ 1) at 3 months, and the primary safety endpoint was symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage (sICH) in 90 days.

To date, the recovery of large bone defects is a major clinical challenge despite the availability of numerous therapeutic procedures including tissue engineering. Although there is a pressing need for large tissue-engineered constructs, inadequate vascularization remains an insurmountable barrier for successful clinical translation. Considering that vascularization is a prerequisite for osteogenesis, we proposed an advanced design of large customized porous β-tricalcium phosphate (TCP) scaffolds with biomimetic vascular hierarchy which upon embedding of femoral axial vascular bundles significantly improved overall vascularity of the scaffolds.

Aims: β-blockers are widely used in therapy for heart failure and hypertension. β-blockers are also known to evoke additional diversified pharmacological and physiological effects in patients. We aim to characterize the underlying molecular signalling and effects on cardiac inotropy induced by β-blockers in animal hearts.

Paeoniflorin (PA) is an anti-Parkinson Chinese medicine with inferior bioavailability and difficulty in delivery to the brain. This research is to develop an efficacious PA nanocrystal formulation (PA-NCs) that is suitable for intranasal administration to treat Parkinson's disease (PD). PA-NCs were fabricated through an antisolvent precipitation method using TPGS as the stabilizer.

Background: Although surgery for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) complicated with inferior vena cava tumor thrombus (IVCTT) may improve survival for some patients, prognostic markers remain elusive because of its rarity. We constructed a prognostic nomogram which predicts individualized survival benefit of curative-intent surgery for HCC patients with IVCTT.
Methods: According to abdominothoracic anatomy of inferior vena cava (IVC), IVCTT can be divided into 3 types: inferior diaphragmic (ID), superior diaphragmic (SD), and intracardiac type (IC).

Obstructive renal injury and drug-induced nephrotoxicity are the two most common causes of renal fibrosis diseases. However, whether these two different pathogeny induced same pathological outcomes contain common genetic targets or signaling pathway, the current research has not paid great attention. GSE121190 and GSE35257 were downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database.

This study aimed to disclose differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in dorsal root ganglia (DRGs) of neuropathic pain (NP) from spared nerve injury (SNI) model, thereby identifying specific and meaningful genetic targets for the diagnosis and treatment of NP. The GSE89224 was downloaded from the GEO database. DEGs were screened using the GEO2R online tool.

However, the mechanism by which sildenafil improves cardiac function is unclear. We have observed a relationship between PDE5 and β2 adrenergic receptor (β2AR), which is characterized here as a novel mechanistic axis by which sildenafil improves symptoms of diabetic cardiomyopathy.

Although it is generally accepted that diabetes is one of the most important risk factors for liver cancer, the underlying mechanism is still not well understood. The purpose of the current study is to further investigate how high concentrations of glucose (HG), a major symptom of diabetes, stimulate the development of liver malignancy. Using data mining, gap junction protein gamma 1 (GJC1) was identified as a critical proto-oncoprotein that is essential for the HG stimulation of proliferative capacity in liver cancer cells.

ELF3 is one of the member of transcription factors from E-twenty-six family, its role varies in different types of cancer. However, the role and specific mechanisms of ELF3 in the development of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) still remains largely unknown. In our study, ELF3 was observed to be upregulated in NSCLC tissues compared to the corresponding normal lung tissue at mRNA and protein levels, and its expression level was correlated with the overall survival of patients with NSCLC.
