In orthodontic treatment of patients during the mixed dentition period, arch expansion and opening deep overbite are one of the objectives to achieve proper alignment of the teeth and correction of sagittal and vertical discrepancies. However, the expected outcomes of most therapeutic regimens are not clear, making it impossible to standardize early treatment effects. Therefore, this study was designed to evaluate the impact of the Invisalign® First System on the dental arch circumference and incisor inclination in patients during the mixed dentition period.

Background: Hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD) is a major public health issue in China while temperature and humidity are well-documented predictors. However, evidence on the combined effect of temperature and humidity is still limited. It also remains unclear whether such an effect could be modified by the enterovirus 71 (EV71) vaccination.

Background: Bone marrow is the leading site for metastasis from neuroblastoma and affects the prognosis of patients with neuroblastoma. However, the accurate diagnosis of bone marrow metastasis is limited by the high spatial and temporal heterogeneity of neuroblastoma. Radiomics analysis has been applied in various cancers to build accurate diagnostic models but has not yet been applied to bone marrow metastasis of neuroblastoma.

Highly efficient degradation of antibiotics is a huge challenge due to the extremely stable molecules and the potential for biological resistance. However, conventional degradation methods are limited to lower degradation rate, higher energy consumption and secondary pollution. Herein, we report a new Cu-based metal-organic framework (MOF), featuring classical planar trinuclear [Cu(µ-O)] clusters within the pores.

Sorption-based atmospheric water-harvesting (AWH) could help to solve global freshwater scarcity. The search for adsorbents with high water-uptake capacity at low relative humidity, rapid adsorption-desorption kinetics and high thermal conductivity is a critical challenge in AWH. Herein, we report a MAF-4 (aka ZIF-8)-derived nanoporous carbon (NPC-800) with multiple N-doped sites, considerable micropore characteristics and inherent photothermal properties, for efficient water production in a relatively arid climate.

G-quadruplexes (G4s) are atypical nucleic acid structures involved in basic human biological processes and are regulated by small molecules. To date, pyridostatin and its derivatives [, PyPDS (4-(2-aminoethoxy)- , -bis(4-(2-(pyrrolidin-1-yl) ethoxy) quinolin-2-yl) pyridine-2,6-dicarboxamide)] are the most widely used G4-binding small molecules and considered to have the best G4 specificity, which provides a new option for the development of cisplatin-binding DNA. By combining PyPDS with cisplatin and its analogs, we synthesize three platinum complexes, named PyPDSplatins.

Hydrogen peroxide (HO) is one of the most valuable clean energy sources with a rapidly growing requirement in industry and daily life. The direct synthesis of HO from hydrogen and oxygen is considered to be an economical and environmentally friendly manufacturing route to replace the traditional anthraquinone method, although it remains a formidable challenge owing to low HO selectivity and production. Here, we report a catalyst consisting of Pd(111) nanocrystals on TiO modified with single Pt atoms (PtPd(111)/TiO), which displays outstanding reactivity, producing 1921.

The survival and sustainable development of plants directly depend on the availability of suitable habitats. In this study, we employed an optimized MaxEnt model to evaluate the relative contribution of each environmental variable and predict the suitable habitat for under past, current, and future periods, which is an endangered relict tree fern known as a living fossil.

The three components of PDT primarily include photosensitizers, oxygen, and light. PDT employs specific wavelengths of light to active photosensitizers at the tumor site, generating reactive oxygen species that are fatal to tumor cells.

Stepped spin crossover (SCO) complexes with three or more spin states have promising applications in high-order data storage, multi-switches and multi-sensors. Further synergy with other functionalities, such as luminescence and dielectric properties, will provide a good chance to develop novel multifunctional SCO materials. Here, a bent pillar ligand and luminescent pyrene guest are integrated into a three-dimensional (3D) Hofmann-type metal-organic framework (MOF) [Fe(dpoda){Au(CN)}]·pyrene (dpoda = 2,5-di-(pyridyl)-1,3,4-oxadiazole).

Emerging evidence indicates that transfer RNA (tRNA)-derived small RNAs (tsRNAs), originated from tRNA with high abundance RNA modifications, play an important role in many complex physiological and pathological processes. However, the biological functions and regulatory mechanisms of modified tsRNAs in cancer remain poorly understood. Here, it is screened for and confirmed the presence of a novel mG-modified tsRNA, mG-3'-tiRNA Lys (mtiRL), in a variety of chemical carcinogenesis models by combining small RNA sequencing with an mG small RNA-modified chip.

By integrating a tailor-made donor-acceptor (D-A) ligand in a metal-organic framework (MOF), a material with unprecedented features emerges. The ligand combines a pair of cyano groups as acceptors with four sulfanylphenyls as donors, which expose each a carboxylic acid as coordination sites. Upon treatment with zinc nitrate in a solvothermal synthesis, the MOF is obtained.

The great majority of microorganisms are as-yet-uncultivated, mostly found in extreme environments. High-throughput sequencing provides data-rich genomes from single-cell and metagenomic techniques, which has enabled researchers to obtain a glimpse of the unexpected genetic diversity of "microbial dark matter." However, cultivating microorganisms from extreme environments remains essential for dissecting and utilizing the functions of extremophiles.

Objectives: This analysis assessed disease characteristics and response to dupilumab treatment in male and female patients with severe chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) (SINUS-52 study; NCT02898454).
Methods: Patients received dupilumab 300 mg or placebo every 2 weeks for 52 weeks on background intranasal corticosteroids. Efficacy was assessed through Week 52 using nasal polyp score (NPS), nasal congestion/obstruction score, loss of smell score and University of Pennsylvania Smell Identification Test score.

With ceritinib as the lead, a series of novel compounds containing the sulfoxide structure were synthesized and evaluated as anaplastic lymphoma kinase inhibitors. Among them, compounds 18a-d exhibited excellent anti-proliferation activities on H2228 EML4-ALK cancer cell lines with 14-28 nM of the IC values. In xenograft mouse models, 18a-d inhibited tumor growth with an excellent inhibitory rate of 75.
