The consequences of droughts are far-reaching, impacting the natural environment, water quality, public health, and accelerating economic losses. Applications of remote sensing techniques using satellite imageries can play an influential role in identifying drought severity (DS) and impacts for a broader range of areas. The Barind Tract (BT) is a region of Bangladesh located northwest of the country and considered one of the hottest, semi-arid, and drought-prone regions.

The data was collected using a mixed method study of convergent parallel design, conducted using classroom observations, interviews and questionnaires to triangulate the data obtained from the three Premier Polytechnics in Malaysia, which involved nine lecturers and 183 students. The data is useful in focussing on the structure that normally occurs whenever code-switching happens and to test on how effective it is in the learning of English. Further research could also be based on these data as to identify the potential functions of code-switching and its contribution towards the language policy in Malaysia as reference to other countries too.

Municipal solid waste (MSW) management has been a growing problem in fast-developing cities. A considerable amount of solid waste is generated daily and disposed anywhere, which creates an unhealthy environment. This study aims to develop a model to determine household solid waste (HSW) generation using multiple linear regression and identify suitable landfill sites to ensure proper MSW disposal in Rangpur City, Bangladesh.

Synthesis of FeAPO-34 Molecular Sieve under Ionothermal Condition.

Inorg Chem

October 2022

School of Chemistry, EaStCHEM and Centre for Magnetic Resonance, University of St Andrews, North Haugh, St Andrews, KY16 9ST Scotland, UK.

FeAPO-34 with a chabazite (CHA) topology structure was successfully synthesized under ionothermal conditions using 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazoliumchloride (EMIMCl) ionic liquid in the presence of ethylenediamine (EDA). The material was characterized using powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), elemental analyses, and solid-state NMR spectroscopy. Incorporation of iron within the covalent framework of the material was confirmed by the presence of broad signals between 1000 and 14,000 ppm in the P NMR spectrum, corresponding to the P(O)(OAl) species.

Modern medical examinations have produced a large number of medical images. It is a great challenge to transmit and store them quickly and securely. Existing solutions mainly use medical image encryption algorithms, but these encryption algorithms, which were developed for ordinary images, are time-consuming and must cope with insufficient security considerations when encrypting medical images.

Response of algal biomass and macrophyte communities to internal or external nutrient loading.

Environ Monit Assess

June 2022

Geography Department, Faculty of Human Sciences, Sultan Idris Education University, 35900 Tanjong Malim, Perak, Malaysia.

Article Synopsis
  • Nutrient input from both internal (from sediments) and external (from stormwater) sources affects the growth of algae and macrophytes in Slim River Lake, Malaysia, over a year-long study.
  • The study found that internal nutrient loading contributed significantly less phosphorus and nitrogen compared to external stormwater runoff.
  • Results indicate that algal biomass is positively correlated with internal phosphorus levels, while macrophyte abundance is more influenced by external nutrient inputs, emphasizing the need for a comprehensive nutrient management strategy for lake restoration.

To study the influence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on dancing robots in choreography, this paper introduces the biped-humanoid robot-imagined choreography model alongside the Psychological Space Construction (Psychological Construct) and Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). The proposed model is based on deep learning and imitating human thinking and is capable of imagining new dance elements. Finally, simulation experiments are designed to verify the model's effectiveness.

This study aims to identify the major phytochemical constituents in (Thymelaeaceae) ethanolic leaf extract (ALEX-M) and elucidate their ability to suppress nitric oxide (NO) production from a murine macrophage-like cell line (RAW 264.7) stimulated by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and interferon-γ (IFN-γ). Dichloromethane (DCM) and ethyl acetate (EtOAc) fractions of ALEX-M were subjected to column chromatography.

Sensory processing disorder (SPD) could influence the neuromuscular response and adjustment to external sensory discrimination and lead to disruptions in daily locomotion. The objective of the current study was to compare plantar loadings and foot balance during walking, running and turning activities in SPD children in order to reveal the behavioral strategy of movement and balance control. Six SPD children and six age-match healthy controls participated in the test using a FootScan plantar pressure plate.

has been traditionally used to treat several medical disorders including inflammation. However, the traditional claims of this plant as an anti-inflammatory agent has not been substantially evaluated using modern scientific techniques. The main objective of this study was to evaluate the anti-inflammatory effect of leaf extract (ALEX-M) and potentiate its activity through nano-encapsulation.

Stem Cell Therapy in Dengue Virus-Infected BALB/C Mice Improves Hepatic Injury.

Front Cell Dev Biol

July 2021

Department of Medical Microbiology, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Universiti Putra Malaysia, Seri Kembangan, Malaysia.

Extensive clinical efforts have been made to control the severity of dengue diseases; however, the dengue morbidity and mortality have not declined. Dengue virus (DENV) can infect and cause systemic damage in many organs, resulting in organ failure. Here, we present a novel report showing a tailored stem-cell-based therapy that can aid in viral clearance and rescue liver cells from further damage during dengue infection.

The Impact of Different Types of Abuse on Depression.

Depress Res Treat

April 2021

School of Psychology & Marcs Institute for Brain, Behaviour and Development, Western Sydney University, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.

Article Synopsis
  • There remains a debate on how childhood trauma and different forms of abuse are measured, as well as their long-term effects on adult health, particularly depression.
  • This article reviews how physical, psychological, and sexual abuse impact victims, emphasizing that abuse increases vulnerability to mental and physical health issues, with psychological abuse being closely linked to depression.
  • The authors call for more research to explore the role of abuse in developing depression and how various types of abuse might affect treatment responses for survivors, aiming for better trauma-informed care.

Ground reaction force (GRF) is a key metric in biomechanical research, including parameters of loading rate (LR), first impact peak, second impact peak, and transient between first and second impact peaks in heel strike runners. The GRFs vary over time during stance. This study was aimed to investigate the variances of GRFs in rearfoot striking runners across incremental speeds.
