Background: Mitchell-Banks technique (MBT), in which inguinal canal is not opened, usually used in inguinal hernia repair in children under 2 years of age. The majority of pediatric surgeons tend to open the inguinal canal while performing inguinal hernia surgery in children over 2 years of age, called as modified Ferguson herniotomy (FH).
Aims: This study aimed to compare early and late complications of the MBT and FH in over 2 years of age patients who underwent inguinal hernia surgery.

Objective: Acute aortic thrombosis and floating aortailiac thrombus are infrequent clinical conditions with high morbidity and mortality rates. It was observed that; SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus disease (Covid-19) caused a hyperinflammation and hyperimmune state and these conditions can result in a hypercoagulation and eventually thrombotic events might occur.
Methods: Here we presented two covid-19 positive patients with rare aortic thrombotic events.

Few studies have examined the association between maternal vitamin B12 status and their breast-fed infants' findings. The objective of this study was to analyze the association of maternal B12 status with infant findings including neurodevelopmental outcome in breast-fed babies with B12 deficiency. Correlation analyses between the laboratory findings of infants with B12 deficiency (n=120) and their mothers were performed and the association of maternal B12 status with infant findings including the Denver-II developmental screening test (DDST II) results was examined.

Background: Recent studies have indicated that the systemic inflammation response index (SIRI) can efficiently predict survival outcomes in various tumor types. Thusly, in absence of comparable investigations in limited-stage small-cell lung cancers (LS-SCLCs), we aimed to retrospectively evaluate the prognostic utility of SIRI in LS-SCLC patients treated with concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CRT). .

Objectives Carbonic anhydrase VA (CAVA) deficiency is a rare autosomal recessive inborn error of metabolism that leads to acute metabolic crises, especially in the neonatal or infantile period. It is caused by a deficiency of the enzyme CAVA, which is encoded by the CA5A gene. Case presentation Fifteen patients with homozygous pathogenic CA5A mutations involving 10 different lesions have been reported in the literature up to date.

Background: Patients' demographic and epidemiological characteristics, local variations in clinicians' knowledge and experience and types of surgery can influence peri-operative transfusion practices. Sharing data on transfusion practices and recipients may improve patients' care and implementation of Patient Blood Management (PBM).
Materials And Methods: This was a multicentre, prospective, observational, cross-sectional study that included 61 centres.

In adults with vitamin B12 deficiency, an inverse correlation between the severity of megaloblastic anemia and the degree of neurological dysfunction has been reported. We aimed to evaluate the association between hematological findings and the results of neurodevelopmental assessment in infants. Denver-II developmental screening test (DDST II) was performed in vitamin B12-deficient infants (n = 122), and its relationship with hematological findings was evaluated.

Hypoparathyroidism is an endocrinopathy that can develop idiopathically, as well as due to reasons associated with genetics, autoimmunity, surgery and radiotherapy. It usually presents with neuromuscular signs and symptoms, including enthesopathy caused by calcification of the ligament and enthesis sites, soft tissue calcification, hypertension, cataract and extrapyramidal findings due to basal ganglia calcification. Hypoparathyroidism-associated spondyloarthropathy (SpA) is a rarely seen clinical entity.

The diagnosis of β-thalassemia (β-thal) trait is usually based on an elevated HbA2 fraction (3.5% to 8%). Co-inheritance of a δ-globin variant along with β-globin gene defects can interfere with the diagnosis of β-thal trait by causing normal HbA2 levels.

Background: Molecular mechanisms of increased cardiovascular mortality in chronic kidney disease (CKD) associated with biological age are not well understood. Recent studies support the hypothesis that common factors responsible for this phenomenon are cellular aging and telomere dysfunction.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the relation between telomerase activity and CKD stages.

Objective: Despite extensive soft tissue reduction, the most common complications associated with bone-anchored hearing aid systems, also known as bone-anchored hearing implants, are related to adverse skin reactions around the abutment. The necessary soft tissue reduction also adds complexity to the surgical procedure. This study aimed to evaluate the surgical and audiological outcomes of a new connective interface of the Cochlear™ Baha® BA400 device implanted using the one-stage surgical technique.

This study investigated the prevalence of genes encoding resistance to macrolides, lincosamides and streptogramins (MLS(B)) among staphylococci in a series of 301 erythromycin-resistant clinical isolates of Staphylococcus aureus and coagulase-negative staphylococci (CoNS). Erythromycin-resistance phenotypes were determined according to Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute guidelines and specific resistance genes erm(A), erm(B), erm(C), msr(A) and msr(B) were identified using polymerase chain reaction. Background: Correct assessment of the severity and activity of ulcerative colitis (UC) is necessary for determining effective treatment and predicting prognosis. The correlation between histologic activity and endoscopic activity, however, has not yet been determined by using a quantitative scoring system.
Study Aims: To compare the endoscopic activity index (EAI), detected during colonoscopy, with the histologic activity index (HAI) detected in biopsy samples taken from the same colon segments of UC patients in order to determine the degree of agreement between both assessments.
