Most herbivores must balance demands to meet nutritional requirements, maintain stable thermoregulation and avoid predation. Using GPS collar data from African wild dogs, lions, impala, tsessebes, wildebeest and zebra in the Okavango Delta, Botswana, we studied proactive predation risk avoidance by herbivores.
