Introduction: This case report documented the outcome of consuming a 14-day homemade elemental diet to normalize intestinal methanogen overgrowth. A prevention protocol after methanogen eradication was employed to prevent recurrence.
Presenting Concerns: The patient was a 47-year-old White female with intestinal methanogen overgrowth confirmed by lactulose breath testing.

Worldwide, more than 3 million people have died from COVID-19. Each decedent represents a person who was loved, will be missed, and whose death elicited grief. COVID-19 has changed the way we die and grieve.

With the accelerating pace of global change, it is imperative that we obtain rapid inventories of the status and distribution of wildlife for ecological inferences and conservation planning. To address this challenge, we launched the SNAPSHOT USA project, a collaborative survey of terrestrial wildlife populations using camera traps across the United States. For our first annual survey, we compiled data across all 50 states during a 14-week period (17 August-24 November of 2019).

In a time when a global pandemic has forced people to use technology for almost every aspect of their day-to-day lives, it is important to determine if specific disadvantaged groups are appropriately connected to the digital world. This paper attempts to assess whether people with disabilities (PWD) own computers, connect to the Internet, and participate in online activities at the same rates as the general population. Using comprehensive data from the 2017 Current Population Survey we find that PWD still lag behind in computer ownership and Internet access.

In this data article, we present the spectroscopic structural data of the pottery samples collected from Petén Itzá, Guatemala. Detailed Fourier transmission infrared, powder X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy coupled to electron dispersive X-ray diffraction, and thermal gravimetric analysis/differential thermal gravimetric analysis (FTIR, PXRD, SEM/EDX, and TGA/DTGA) were discussed in the research article titled "Comprehensive Structural and Compositional Investigation of Maya Pottery Sherds from Lake Petén Itzá, Guatemala, Central America" (Onchoke et al. 2020 [1]) The FTIR, XRD profiles and composition of pottery from Petén Itzá, Guatemala are presented.

Angiosarcoma is a rare cancer of blood vessel-forming cells with a high patient mortality and few treatment options. Although chemotherapy often produces initial clinical responses, outcomes remain poor, largely due to the development of drug resistance. We previously identified a subset of doxorubicin-resistant cells in human angiosarcoma and canine hemangiosarcoma cell lines that exhibit high lysosomal accumulation of doxorubicin.

Recent tragic events and data from official NCAA reports suggest student-athletes' well-being is compromised by symptoms of mental health (MH) disorders. Self-compassion (SC) and mental toughness (MT) are two psychological constructs that have been shown effective against stressors associated with sports. The purpose of this study was to investigate SC, MT, and MH in a NCAA environment for the first time and provide practical suggestions for MH best practice No.

Nitrous oxide (NO) is a potentially important oxidant for green chemistry applications but thus far has shown limited examples as a ligand for transition metal complexes. Given the lack of reported NO complexes, density functional theory was utilized to study the potential binding effects in multiple group 8 metal complexes. NO is found to be a very weakly π-accepting ligand (approximately 1/3 as effective as CO).

Background: The gene (Se gene) encoding the enzyme α-1,2-L-fucosyltransferase 2 seems to have a significant effect on the number and type of bacteria colonizing the intestines.
Methods: In a group of 19 patients after bariatric surgery, the polymorphism (rs601338) of gene was analyzed in combination with body mass reduction, intestinal microbiome (16S RNA sequencing), and short chain fatty acids (SCFA) measurements in stools.
Results: Among the secretors (Se/Se polymorphism of the gene rs601338, carriers of GG variant), correlations between waist-hip ratio (WHR) and propionate content and an increase in , , , and were observed.

An indoor formaldehyde enriched environment was created by an automatic fumigation system with timing and concentration control. Selected hydroponic plant species were exposed in formaldehyde concentrations of 10 mg m, 50 mg m and 100 mg m respectively for 6 days with 10-h-treatment each day. Changes in morphological characteristics including leaf damage rate, leaf damage time and survival rate were monitored to evaluate morphological resistance to formaldehyde.

We report the effectiveness of silver nanocluster (Ag-NC) against the biofilm of (PA). Two DNA aptamers specific for PA and part of their sequences were chosen as templates for growing the Ag-NC. While circular dichroism (CD) studies determined the presence of secondary structures, UV/Vis absorption, and fluorescence spectroscopic studies confirmed the formation of the fluorescent Ag-NC on the DNA templates.

Photoperiod has been shown to significantly affect broiler performance. However, the effects of the traditional 1-min dimming period on broiler growth and welfare are unclear. In this study, 4 consecutive trials were conducted to compare the effects of an intermittent, short-dawn/dusk photoperiod (ISD) to an increasing, long-dawn/dusk photoperiod (ILD) on broiler growth, stress, and welfare.

Reliable scientific knowledge is crucial for informing legislative, regulatory, and policy decisions in a variety of areas. To that end, scientific reviews of topical issues can be invaluable tools for informing productive discourse and decision-making, assuming these reviews represent the target body of scientific knowledge as completely, accurately, and objectively as possible. Unfortunately, not all reviews live up to this standard.

Pulse radiolysis (PR) enables the full redox window of a solvent to be accessed, as it does not require electrodes or electrolyte which limit the potentials accessible in voltammetry measurements. PR in chloroform has the additional possibility to enable reaching highly positive potentials because of its large ionization potential (IP). PR experiments demonstrated the formation of the (deuterated) chloroform radical cation CDCl3+˙, identifying it as the source of the broad absorption in the visible part of the spectrum.

Mutual interference and prey refuge are important drivers of predator-prey dynamics. The "exponent" or degree of mutual interference has been under much debate in theoretical ecology. In the present work, we investigate the interplay of the mutual interference exponent, and prey refuge, on the behavior of a predator-prey model with a generalized Holling type functional response - considering in particular the "non-smooth" case.

Energetically low-lying structural isomers of the much-studied thiolate-protected gold cluster Au25(SR)18- are discovered from extensive (80 ns) molecular dynamics (MD) simulations using the reactive molecular force field ReaxFF and confirmed by density functional theory (DFT). A particularly interesting isomer is found, which is topologically connected to the known crystal structure by a low-barrier collective rotation of the icosahedral Au13 core. The isomerization takes place without breaking of any Au-S bonds.
