Silibinin, a polyphenolic flavonolignan, is well-known as a safe therapeutic drug without any side effects in the treatment of many malignancies especially cancerous cells. In this study, to overcome problems such as low solubility of silibinin and to enhance its delivery to cancerous cells, we encapsulated silibinin in polymersome nanoparticles. Physicochemical measurements such as dynamic light scattering, transmission electron microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and atomic force microscopy confirmed the proper encapsulation of silibinin in nanoparticles.

The Chronic granulomatous disease (CGD) is a primary immunodeficiency that characterized by mutations in phagocyte nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADPH) oxidase, resulting in deficient antimicrobial activity of phagocytic cells and recurrent childhood infections. Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) is a curative option for patients with human leukocyte antigen (HLA) matched donor, when conventional cares and therapies fail. However, in many cases when the patients have not an HLA-matched donor, they need to a method to recapitulate the function of the affected gene within the patient's own cells.

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disorder characterized by insulin deficiency and impaired glucose metabolism. Overexpression of cAMP response element binding protein (CREB)-regulated transcriptional coactivator 2 (CRTC2) plays an important role in high gluconeogenesis in patients with diabetes type II. Using RNA interference technology for silencing CRTC2 gene expression could be helpful in controlling the level of blood glucose and gluconeogenesis.

Significant advances have been achieved in recent years to ameliorate rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in animal models using gene therapy approaches rather than biological treatments. Although biological agents serve as antirheumatic drugs with suppressing proinflammatory cytokine activities, they are usually accompanied by systemic immune suppression resulting from continuous or high systemic dose injections of biological agents. Therefore, gene transfer approaches have opened an interesting perspective to deliver one or multiple genes in a target-specific or inducible manner for the sustained intra-articular expression of therapeutic products.

The function of fibroblast cells in wounded areas results in reconstruction of the extra cellular matrix and consequently resolution of granulation tissue. It is suggested that the use of platelet-rich plasma can accelerate the healing process in nonhealing or slow-healing wounds. In this study, a simple and novel method has been used to fabricate an electrospun three-layered scaffold containing plasma rich in growth factor with the aim of increasing the proliferation and migration of fibroblast cells in vitro.

Stem cells can be obtained from a variety of sources. To compare the effect of cell source on the osteogenic differentiation potential, buccal fat pad-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BFP-MSCs), bone marrow-derived MSCs (BM-MSCs) and unrestricted somatic stem cells (USSCs) with different accessibility in time and region, were cultured on bioceramic (Bio-Oss) coated electrospun polycaprolactone (PCL) scaffold (PCL-Bio). Background: The purpose of this study was to compare the effects of Glycyrrhiza glabra (Licorice), a cyclooxygenase- 2 inhibitor (Celecoxib) and a gonadotropin-releasing hormone analog (Diphereline®), with a control group on endometrial implants in rats.
Materials And Methods: In this experimental study, endometriosis was induced in rats by auto transplantation and after confirmation, the rats were divided into 4 groups that were treated for 6 weeks with normal saline (0.5 ml/day, orally), licorice extract (3000 mg/kg/day, orally), celecoxib (50 mg/kg, twice a day, orally) or diphereline (3 mg/kg, intramuscularly).
